Candy Candy was the only anime that my parents watched when they were kids in Mexico. Going to visit family and all the adults sit down to watch Candy Candy in the living room like when they were kids was so nice. I loved that show even though it is old.
Didn't they watch Tetsujin 28-go, Wonder 3, Haha o Tazunete Sanzenri and Ogon Batto? known in Spanish as "El Hombre de Acero", "Los Tres Espaciales" , "Marco" and "Fantasmagórico"? My mom watched those animes when she was a kid here in Peru back in the late 60s and 70s.
all of them deserve the praise but i was surprised what kinda animes get consistently on here. they start trending towards shounen jump stuff later. not that thats a bad thing alot of legendary ops just couldnt share a spot with some of these weekly shows with dedicated fanbases.
This is one of the finest snippets yet. I like how it gives two sections of the song -- the beginning and the chorus. Most I've seen so far only has one thing or another.
yeah the editing may seem simple at first but a lot of effort was put into this, gives you a big part of the songs in just a couple seconds, true low effort would just be playing a straight 5 second part of the sing and have no substance at all
Definitely. The only one I have abit of an issue with is My Hero's section as it's almost repeats itself but it's the right choice, so you can understand why some songs are popular. I love it!
18 years ago I got a burned CD from a friend with various songs on it. One of my favorites was a song that I thought was in Japanese, but I couldn't be sure. I listened to that CD all the time for a year or so before I lost it. This was just before Shazam was a thing, so I never knew what that song was. For 17 years I would try to find it, but since I didn't know what the lyrics actually were or even what language it was in, I was stuck. Every once in a while, I would listen to hours of anime song compilations, since that seemed like my best bet to find it. I even used music software to recreate the pieces of the song that I remembered, which I posted online in various places to try to crowdsource the search. I never had any luck with any approach. Then today I see this video from a couple weeks ago and think "Hey, maybe there's a chance. Maybe I'll finally find the song." I listen to the video, not really paying attention, until I hear it. I recognize it in two seconds. I've finally found it. An 18 year old song when I first heard it, an 18 year journey, for everything to come together in this moment. Thank you. 2:58 if you're curious.
Bro i listened to rites of passage yanni’s song on radio 12 or 13 yrs ago and i didnt know the music so i just hum the music until i recently heard it at a restaurant while i was getting out so i just stood there in the middle shazamed it and found my song. U dont how much i loved it.
it always strikes me how you can totally see the groundwork for 90s hits like cowboy bebop, sailor moon and evangelion in the 70s hits like lupin iii & captain harlock for bebop, candy candy for sailor moon, and mobile suit gundam for evangelion. these were the shows the late 90s anime creators grew up watching! you can really tell!
Watching the intros go from really thrown together openings in the 70's, to decent music in the 80's, decent animations in the 90's, lots of effort into the intro in the 00's, and just going all out for every aspect to fit well in the 2010's is really cool to see.
I feel like the modern style limmited the variety of interesting character designs people made for shows before sao. Now every main protagonist with black hair is just a kirito dupe.
There's def a distinction between 92 and 93 onward, 2002 and 2003 onward and 2012 onward. It's hard to say what will define the 2020s in terms of style and music in openings.
@@BOB2ElECTRICBOOGALOO678 I feel like there's a big change between 2019 and 2020s style and music. Compare MHA's to JJK's. Newer anime are falling more in line with JJK's style and music lately.
As same as with everything, a Lot of these shows survive out of nostalgia and people putting them in a pedestal, while also attacking anyone that dissagrees with that statement.
The animation style WAS improving (even past my favorite era, 80s & early 90s), but in the last 5 years it's taken a nosedive into shit. Recent anime looks like hot fucking garbage most of the time
Neon Genesis is like a total throwback, bringing back all the feels from my childhood. Watching it again is like a blast from the past, reminding me of all the late-night anime marathons and heated discussions with friends about the plot twists. It's like revisiting a piece of my youth and rediscovering why I fell in love with anime in the first place. Nostalgia overload!
Same form me , but about Naruto Blue bird . Because i got to cach up before the anime finished . Still now i see it as avrage . The nostalgia is still there .
I watched Angel Beats a few years ago and honestly that OP is my favourite out of anything. It really feels like you're falling through the sky just listening to it. Also it's scary how 2003 feels like a lifetime ago and yet 2013 feels like yesterday.
you may want to check out the Japanese dream pop scene, they have some great stuff. Uchuu Nekoko, or Space Nekoko is a good place to start, but there are others like Kinokoteikoku, although this one goes more into shoegaze and alt rock
the second half of the 90s is genuinely one of the greatest strings of OPs back to back. like, in any other decade they'd be some of, if not *the* best. and there's FIVE OF THEM BACK TO BACK
@@rosilinathedragon4382yeah never watched much DB as a kid so maybe I just can't appreciate it, but I agree We Are is amazing. I just didn't want to consider it 90s since it came out literally at the turn of the century (10/20/99). I really like the Sailor Moon OP as the other comment in this thread said but I think the 2000s is just too stacked with Bleach, Naruto, HxH, Tokyo Ghoul, Inyuyasha, Hellsing, Air, Geass, SAO, AOT, etc.. Just a string of bangers imo.
Granted i started watching anime frequently in mid 90s,alot of these older show was reaired again and again and i loved them all, especially those World Masterpieces Theater like Akage No Anne, and other non WMP like Future Boy Conan,Macross,Kimagure etc
It's a honor to have Saint Seiya in the list, It is normally skipped since it did not win in English-speaking countries and its time has passed, as a fan of the franchise it is good to see it given some credit
Lupin has been like a drug to me for a while that rabbit hole is so deep. Part 2 is an earwig I'll never get it out of my head. Even my kid brother cosplays as lupin because of me its taken over my life at this point and im not even mad
I think it's a great editing decision to show each song at two spots. helps people like me, who don't know most songs, to get a better feeling for them.
It still melts my brain knowing the buu saga originally aired in 93. I'm 28 and dbz was my childhood growing up in the early-mid 2000s so it's surreal to know the japanese generation who experienced it in real time were at least college graduate age by the time we got it here in america.
Man the One Piece OP is so fucking nostalgic, I remember watching OP as a kid, it was so good, I couldn't get enough... There was ALWAYS more adventure and it was never boring, I learned so much from it and it helped me through depression, those were the good old days.
I never knew Evangelion but when I was playing a Jojo game on Roblox they have an Evangelion stand and when the dude posed, it played Cruel's Angel Thesis and my first instinct was to find the original song and eventually found it.
I'm impressed that Butterfly (Digimon) is not on the list. However, I absolutely loved the video, it feels like time travel, I could even see myself as a Japanese kid watching these 70s and 80s shows
Still, I think Bling Bang Bang Born has solidified its place as a certified banger and the best opening of this year (although I personally also like Hana Ni Natte about the same)
with how the song blew up, I feel like it's prolly gonna be the standout opening of the year. It was kinda the same way with oshi no ko, that opening dominated for the whole year lmao
@DragonoidOmega Mistake on my part, I discovered the Apothecary Diaries earlier this year and binged the whole thing, so in my mind it's from 2024 I guess? Anyways sorry lol 😅🫶
It's amazing how Air's OP made it on here, wasn't expecting that. With how unknown it is nowadays I always forget that it used to be pretty dang popular, especially Tori no Uta itself. Still hoping for a remake someday that adapts the story more thoroughly!
@@Kurogane72 Yeah the anime basically just cut out so much of the foreshadowing and important lore information. It's unfortunate because in the VN it didn't have that feel to it at all, since they took the time to make sure it all made sense.
Very nice video, as someone who grew up with anime, I recognized a lot even from the old ones, and most of the newest. Fairy Tail and Detective Conan should totally have been in the list imo, given how popular these anime are.
huge dropoff in the 2000's pretty much until Oshi No Ko. At least in terms of most popular opening as I know there were actual good songs there. Perhaps the ED's are more memorable for a lot of them.
@@rs.matr1x Oshi No Ko's opening definitely wasn't the best opening of neither its decade nor its year. King's Ranking, Demon Slayer and even Hell's Paradise all have it beat. People just love K-pop and similar sounds too much at this point I guess.
Although early 2010's openings were serious bangers, and one of the best periods to be alive to watch anime, the late 80's and all 90's openings can't be compared to anything.
@@stephpee4545 That's why this list is for the most popular openings, but you're right, for me Oshi no ko's op is good, but it didn't blew my mind or anything except for its visuals.
When I first watched Cowboy Bebop, I swear I thought that that was just what anime was going to be from then on out. It felt like it was going to be the genesis point of modern anime but it wound up being something special and unique (at least, in my experience).
if you like magical girl or shoujo anime, I’d really recommend cardcaptor sakura! it’s anime was made in 1998 and is about a fifth grade girl who breaks an ancient seal on a magic book made by a master magician, and has to collect scattered cards with different spells
@@chocoro29 I also recommend it! it was basically my first anime (i had watched Dragon Ball and Pokemon but i didnt knew they were animes) and even to this day i still love it and rewatch it, also all the openings are really good :D
@@-_abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz_- My first anime was Moomin of all things. I don't think anyone who grew up in Sweden in the 90s had any idea that it was produced in Japan. We never read the credits, and all the voices were dubbed. I only found out about it like a couple of years ago.
Realising I've been into animes for 15 years... Japanese pop culture has basically been part of my growth as a kid and a teenager, as certainly a lot of people my age. All the early 2000's animes make me feel very nostalgic because I started my journey with these! The couple of past years I've been less invested into this media - your list makes me want to catch up on the newest great series that have been released (already catching up on Jujutsu Kaisen S2, it'd been a long time since I hadn't watched such a thrilling anime!)
Monster, Death Note, Dr. Stone, 3 gatsu no Lion, Gyakkyou Burai Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor, Boku no Hero Academy, One Piece, Dragon Quest Dai (2020), etc etc etc
Shangri-La Frontier, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End and for shits and/or giggles: Reborn as a Vending Machine. Just because it's a tad goofy at times. But hey, you watch what you want. Take it at your own pace. You don't have to watch exclusively anime for many years.
I thought you were like a millenial when I read your comment and then I thought about it and I have also been watching it for 16 years lol. I can't really say I am less invested now, the animation has completely stepped up because they stopped doing weekly episodes. It also makes me appreciate it so much more when good episodes are out.
I feel so proud to know that Code Geass made it on this list (2006). Edit: I got to 7:52 (2010), and the breath was taken from me... Man, that theme... Brings back bitterly wonderful memories.
that's not true. Maybe in some countries. In Spain at least the series that made anime popular were Saint Seiya, Mazinger Z and Dragon Ball. Considering also that France and Italy also have a strong relation with anime (that still keeps strong until today) I'm pretty sure that it became a phenomenon way before Sailor Moon.
For some reason it feels like Angel Beats came out a lot longer ago than 2010. It has such a nostalgic feeling to it. I guess because so much started changing around that time. Mid to late 2000's and early 2010's are when smart phones and social media started taking off. Before then the internet and anime were much more like a secret treasure trove only some people messed with and talked about. 90's kids really are becoming the new boomers.
The 3 novels (written by the writer) that Candy Candy was based on at least have an Italian translation. It’s just that the manga it was derived from hasn’t been reprinted for a long time because the illustrator’s had complicated relations with the industry, and especially with the writer. Maybe it’s for the best that they’re not contacting each other.
It's been released (illegally) on DVD in Korea and in Mexico. The artist even said she did not mind it, and rather had more problems with the industry not paying her well than with well-meaning fans who just wanted to watch the series. It's a very good series, by the way. Great classic shōjo.
@@urie6168 an optimistic case is fine, since a possible reboot manga can still be better than the Og manga adaptation. Rather Disappointingly, the writer (and true creator, if you do read the excellently Italian-translated novels) is a recluse who’s often overprotective of her property, especially since she has retired from the spotlight for safety reasons. I guess it’s because her infamously terrible relationship with her most hardcore and messed up fans has led her to become a very private person, which is likely for the best. All Of You Candy Candy fans can still sympathise somehow with Yumiko Igarashi herself as She is just as complex, but isn’t as much of a recluse as the writer. Although not totally blameless, her role in a particularly ridiculous feuding lawsuit has pretty much birthed an underground industry centring around pirated Candy Candy merchandise, which she doesn’t mind since she’s had enough with chauvinistic higher ups and fans already, although she technically only owns the artwork, while the writer owns the story and characters.
This is also a great list for someone who wants to get into anime! A lot of anime watchers get in their own little bubble when they recommend anime (myself included, I came in during the times of the big 3, so I lived by Naruto). So sometimes its hard for them to find something that connects. With this one, it's much more broad, with so many different genres. You can just go right from the beginning and see what you like. Peoples tastes have changed over time and what I love about this video is that you can see it vividly. Every single anime in here could be a starter anime for someone and that's amazing. Great video!
@@lucasfernandezvidal3280 not really... you can only see in this video the most overrated ones. Like Unravel. Anime was mediocre at best. Music is as much poprock as it could be. Some of them really are good ones (moonlight densetsu, cat's eye, Tank!, Haruka Kanata, Asterisk, the one from Jujutsu Kaisen aswell). But then there are very good ones missing. Liek both Made in Abyss openings. The first one stands above all. Or Shidonia no Kishi - Angela. From the oldies? TANOSHII NO MOOMIN IKKA, or some of the Jojo Bizzare Adventure ones.)
The nostalgia 😍. I would have added Dragon Ball, Captain Taubasa (in Spanish 😁), basically all of Naruto openings and all of Attack on Titan, Digimon 01 and 02, Pokemon 1 in English), Jujutsu kaisen "you are my special" and a couple more of full metal alchemist. Top adding Mashle opening 2 I'm hooked to it 🤣
It's so crazy to see the evolution of anime openings! Seeing them gradually go from a slower and more classical style, going up to higher bpm modern j-pop j-rock and even rap!
Woaaaah I remember as a child watching a local tv channel where they used to air old animes and normally Urusei Yatsura and Cat’s Eye were in the afternoons one after the other and watching the openings almost back to back in this video brought a lot of memories back! 😅
first entry already has me hyped. im an early 2000s kid who grew up with ufo robot grendizer because it was my father's favourite anime from his childhood, and hearing the opening again after about a decade was super nostalgic and cool
Fascinating to see how the most popular genres of anime have changed over the years! I was surprised how much of the 70's and 80's were mecha or space operas, but it makes sense with cel animation: things floating in space are a lot easier to animate. Seeing the shift to the Big Three shonen in the 2000's, and it looks like more of the popular ones of the late 10's to 20's have been thriller/intrigue and taken a much grittier tone! Makes me wonder where we're going next... Edit: ppl have said the isekai era, but we've already had tons of isekai titles since sword art online in 2012 and it hasn't reflected in which ones are most POPULAR. I'd actually posit the fantasy era: NON-isekai magical worlds including and inspired by Dungeon Meshi.
Yeah, culturally also the super robot and mecha genre are very significant which explains the great success of those animes and Mangas. They were kind of like the first iteration of manga in its modern form.
You could view the space side also as a reaction to the Moon Landings in the 1969. An entire generation growing up to that would have more interest in space probably. Of course then space kind of fizzled out in reality for a bit. Considering how things are going in the 2020s in space once again though, I wouldn't be surprised if it might start making a comeback in the 2030s as it starts seeming more relevant again.
Technically we be in the golden age right now, but with the way things are heading you can only see a decline. Manga sales have declined and switched to digital. Also the youth of Japan isn't really down to spend ridiculous hours everyday animating stuff so yeee. The quality will likely get better sure, but the sheer amount of options is definatly gonna start dropping if not already
All the zone between 1999 to 2012 really hit hard down my memory lane Obviously I've seen a lot of thing that came before, but I LIVED those years and saw the trends rise and fall
Don't be sad, thanks to his works he revolutionized the shonen genre and impacted and changed the anime world as a whole. So many amazing authors have been inspired by Toriyama that even tho he has left us, his influence and work will continue through the future generations going forward c:
The early-mid 2000s through to the early 2010s gave me that sweet nostalgia hit I needed tonight. Also LiSA only makes bangers and the Paripi Koumei theme song is legendary
@@faramirchevlonski6152 it's not bad, but I couldn't finish it due because of the really rough pacing and inconsistent vibe of it. It goes from comedy to dark stuff way too fast and feels very random. Personally I felt like it didn't meet its full potential as there was a lot of cool things going on with the story, but the potentially great moments just didn't hit well, usually being underwhelming. But take this with a grain of salt, since I didn't see the whole thing. edit: But the fights are cool and it's a pretty unique show. I recommend giving the first ep a shot
Maaaaaan, so many college memories at the start of this! Also so many shows I thought were from the 1970s were actually from the 90s. This was a blast, and seeing how the whole concept of OPs has developed from a practical TV Theme Tune style to its own art form that still remains coexisting and symbyotic with anime. Thanks for compiling and sharing this! 😊
Shoutout to the AIR opening, I didn’t expect it there but it’s such a big part of the Japanese VN otaku crowd that Tori no Uta has a nickname of Japan’s national anthem. And plus, KyoAni did animate it, that alone deserves some respect. Thanks!
@@HMK. Sorry, I’ll translate it into my native language of Canadian English: We were talking aboot Natsukageh, one of the ehnsert songs from EHIR. Hope this helps!
My personal favorite is Cobra's. I know that this isn't the most popular anime, but everything is so perfect... The pace, the humor, the animation, and of course the ost. Cobra's OST truly has something unique, and it really is transmitted through the op. The funky jazzy atmosphere is perfectly captured through this op. Truly a masterpiece in every second of it
1983 Cat's Eye Opening is a jam, you totally wanna dance to. And I really like that the three female protagonists arent depicted in fan service style and unnecessary hyperfeminine silouettes but come with a serious grace.
~Does anyone younger ones here feel like this?~ 1970s-90s: "Oh, I've never heard about these original versions/anime, but the songs were/are fire! Early 2000s-2010s: "Ah, yeah, I remember a few of these, (early) RUclips made most of them popular, so thanks!" Late 2010s-Present era 2020s: "Not surprised these were on the list. Every one of them BLEW UP online. But the older songs are getting some recognition now too, so I guess it's not that bad!
Even older people have probably only heard some or even none of the jap versions of the songs, in my country before the 2000s all OPs were remade in my native language, some are completely different. They're very hit or miss but some of them have become unforgettable and are known word for word by an entire generation, like the italian OP for Hokuto no Ken, the one from UFO ROBOT or even the one from Cat's Eyes.
For me, Tori no Uta (2005) is my favorite and the most iconic in this list. I’m not a shounen person. As a millennial, Cardcaptor Sakura’s “Catch You Catch Me,” ARIA’s “Undine,” NHK ni Youkoso’s “Puzzle,” and Chobits’ “Let Me Be With You” would have been other iconic choices for me that are overshadowed by the popularity of shounen.

What I really liked about this video is that it demonstrated the evolution of musical genres and music technology. This would be a fantastic video to use in a music history class.
I'd given 1999 to Digimon Adventure - Butterfly as how loved that opening is. I'm not sure if One Piece was already that popular in japan from Episode 1 or it got the love later on but it's true that it's one of the most sold anime and manga ever.
I love it!
Agreed, it's really good way to show off the song, and sometimes only the chorus or the beginning is the most recognizable
they do this to avoid copyright xd
A lot of my favorites up there. Great job putting this together
I'm happy for you, my first time hearing it and I love it, I'm hoping I'll be able to find it in English.

Bro i listened to rites of passage yanni’s song on radio 12 or 13 yrs ago and i didnt know the music so i just hum the music until i recently heard it at a restaurant while i was getting out so i just stood there in the middle shazamed it and found my song. U dont how much i loved it.

Wild guess, but Air gear OP?
Its really fascinating seeing the different eras of anime by how the most popular illustration style evolved over time.
it always strikes me how you can totally see the groundwork for 90s hits like cowboy bebop, sailor moon and evangelion in the 70s hits like lupin iii & captain harlock for bebop, candy candy for sailor moon, and mobile suit gundam for evangelion. these were the shows the late 90s anime creators grew up watching! you can really tell!
i love how the songs reflect the changing music eras too. i never watched it but that naruto opening is so early 2000s 😅 perfect
Watching the intros go from really thrown together openings in the 70's, to decent music in the 80's, decent animations in the 90's, lots of effort into the intro in the 00's, and just going all out for every aspect to fit well in the 2010's is really cool to see.
Then you can also see a dramatic difference between most intros and cowboy bebop’s into
no matter how many times I hear it, cruel angel's still give me chills..........

Despite my distaste for SAO, it seems like its the first popular anime to have the modern art style
I feel like the modern style limmited the variety of interesting character designs people made for shows before sao. Now every main protagonist with black hair is just a kirito dupe.
What do you mean by modern art style? I don't see much of a difference.
I say cowboy bebop was the first to have a more modern music style, even though the music feels retro as hell.
The evolution is crazy
The fact that some anime’s are still airing and the animation style is improving a lot

that's not true. Maybe in some countries. In Spain at least the series that made anime popular were Saint Seiya, Mazinger Z and Dragon Ball. Very unfortunately, CandyCandy is now sealed due to troubles between the authors.
I hope they reconcile and maybe open up room for a reboot

They were kind of like the first iteration of manga in its modern form.
heading towards isekai era lmao
You could view the space side also as a reaction to the Moon Landings in the 1969. An entire generation growing up to that would have more interest in space probably. Of course then space kind of fizzled out in reality for a bit.
Considering how things are going in the 2020s in space once again though, I wouldn't be surprised if it might start making a comeback in the 2030s as it starts seeming more relevant again.
isekai era😭😭
Technically we be in the golden age right now, but with the way things are heading you can only see a decline. Manga sales have declined and switched to digital. Also the youth of Japan isn't really down to spend ridiculous hours everyday animating stuff so yeee. Everytime i hear that song it makes me remember when my dad would blast it through the house to wake me up for school
😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️
Asterisk is one of my favorites anime intro ever. The aesthetic is just so good man..
It's such a vibe honestly
So true Rockman
@@meowmeow1010 It's cross fusion 😭
@@NetBattler idc you still rock
All the Bleach openings are amazing. The playlists hold up so well.
This is one of the best song list tbh. All such great songs. Great video!
Hey, do you know the names of the anime in that video? I want to watch it because the anime looks very interesting.
@@Mikailedyyrt Dude all the anime titles are mentioned in this video

The early-mid 2000s through to the early 2010s gave me that sweet nostalgia hit I needed tonight. Also LiSA only makes bangers and the Paripi Koumei theme song is legendary

Shinzou Wo Sasageyo
5:59 I didn't know Hellsing was so popular. it's good to see that it made it on the list.
Yeah i'm glad it did it has one of the best osts in anime imo.
I watched the first ep of that show on the advice of friends and all I could think was, "people actually liked this?"
I was surprised by that one. I would have expected scryed or angelic layer, or Chobits...
@@Racistobama Is it that bad? I was captived by the intro and I thought to give it a try. Do you recommend it?

Thanks!
夏影 is best

My personal favorite is Cobra's. I know that this isn't the most popular anime, but everything is so perfect... The pace, the humor, the animation, and of course the ost. Cobra's OST truly has something unique, and it really is transmitted through the op. The funky jazzy atmosphere is perfectly captured through this op.
Truly a masterpiece in every second of it

1983 Cat's Eye Opening is a jam, you totally wanna dance to. And I really like that the three female protagonists arent depicted in fan service style and unnecessary hyperfeminine silouettes but come with a serious grace.
There's a new version last year by the same singer after Lupin III vs Cat's Eye was released lol
@@jorunisntreal yeah, thank you. Found out about it after looking for the opening. And I didnt know its from the same guy, who did City Hunter.
Did you ever hear the Italian version? It's also a jam.
It got me into the anime! It's such a vibe
I'm so old I've watched all of this stuff basically when it came out. So glad the kids get to know the classics, thanks for this. 🥰
~Does anyone younger ones here feel like this?~
1970s-90s: "Oh, I've never heard about these original versions/anime, but the songs were/are fire!
Early 2000s-2010s: "Ah, yeah, I remember a few of these, (early) RUclips made most of them popular, so thanks!"
Late 2010s-Present era 2020s: "Not surprised these were on the list. Every one of them BLEW UP online. But the older songs are getting some recognition now too, so I guess it's not that bad!
I’m actually familiar with a lot of the older ones,I used to watch old anime opening videos when I was younger
Man I watched Zeta Gundam like almost a decade ago and I still get nostalgic with OP2.
Truly best Gundam show ever.
Me too
I was like... "Most popular? Is WfM gonna be here?"
As soon as zeta's appeared I was unconsciously singing along to it and just thought "of course"
Zeta's so good.
I want people to watch MSG just so they can get to it. (They should anyway. Since it's rad.)
Personally for me evangelion, any fullmetal alchemist, any Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood, code geass, any one piece op, any dbz op,
I didn't think I was that much of a nerd but I recognized all but 2 series and 4 songs.... Man this makes me feel old.
This was a trip down memory lane. Helped me remember lost songs from my childhood
8:29 since 'Attack on Titan' I feel like the quality of animation drawing has improved tremendously
分かります!でも、制作会社変わってからのCGは自分には合わなかった。
For me, Tori no Uta (2005) is my favorite and the most iconic in this list. I’m not a shounen person. As a millennial, Cardcaptor Sakura’s “Catch You Catch Me,” ARIA’s “Undine,” NHK ni Youkoso’s “Puzzle,” and Chobits’ “Let Me Be With You” would have been other iconic choices for me that are overshadowed by the popularity of shounen.
This is exactly my era too. I love all of those songs 💖
Man forgot Shingeki No Kyojin OP 6 💀
It came out before op6 I believe
From 1998 to 2000s dayum man its soo reminiscing.
Loved seeing the different trends, music, attitudes of each time period be reflected in the most popular anime op of each year!
I adore this video! A great compilation of songs and a delicious history pie of anime music.
Oof. The nostalgia hits hard on this one, and I'm not even that old. Dragon Ball, Pokemon, Bleach, Naruto, FMA, Angel Beats...
Thank you very much for this video,
I remember that I started watching anime watching DNA² in 2010. Since then I've experienced a lot and each opening reminded me of several things that I've been through to this day.
Thank you very much
Amazing Video! This really shows how anime culture evolved throughout years.
jeez, most of these had my head bopping, especially that last one..
I went to Japan during Oshi no Ko's airing and it was fucking everywhere. Had people in the streets jamming out to that song.
I was there when the second season of Kny was airing.
The opening of the pleasure district arc was being blased everywhere all the time.

There’s some surprising songs in that game. I wasn’t expecting to see Final Fantasy X-2 in there.
@@adams3560 yeah D4DJ has a huge range! I think they all have original tracks behind the cover vocals to match the "DJ" theme more, which makes comparing D4DJ songs to the originals extra fun.

It's pretty fun and interesting to see the evolution of animation and that we all grew up with different shows that are now bound into one 💖
I logged off of watching modern anime but watching this brought back so many memories
"My Soul, Your Beats!" being on this list surprised me. It made me both happy and brought back the feels at the end.
Loved that anime. Just hearing that opening makes me cry >.

Really interesting seeing the big transition of art style and music with Gundam Seed. Glad to see one of my fav shows getting its rigjtful appreciation!
What I really liked about this video is that it demonstrated the evolution of musical genres and music technology. This would be a fantastic video to use in a music history class.
That first one was my dads favorite childhood show and i love it
I'd given 1999 to Digimon Adventure - Butterfly as how loved that opening is. I'm not sure if One Piece was already that popular in japan from Episode 1 or it got the love later on but it's true that it's one of the most sold anime and manga ever.
Funny how much Anime i know just by looking the footage yet i'm not a regular anime watcher. It shows how influental these are.
I watched City Hunter,Naruto,(I continued Shippuuden only in manga form)some Dragon Ball GT(I read all the manga from original Dragon Ball which means Z included),InuYasha, some censored Pokémon,Fullmetal Alchemist,Cowboy Bebop and some Bleach but yet again i continued only in manga.
I'm also surprised not even one Yu-Gi-Oh opening made the list. It was one of the most popular anime in the early 2000s way before Naruto
I want to just say that I'm proud that there are people who remember about Yu-Gi-Oh! and Digimon. Man, you have my respect 🙌
@@MN-62782ii Hehe. I watched the original Digimon Adventure,Tamers and every movie from the prequel to Tamers. I started watching Adventure 02 but the characters already annoys me.
