The fish was previously frozen. Hence, it's mash-like texture instead of naturally scalloped flakes of flesh.

Most people prefer crisp chips to soggy ones. The ones you had here look as though they spent an hour or two in the bath, before reaching your plate.

Just been to Morrison's for Fish & Chips, The deal is 2 Fish & Chips with mushy fees, and a hot drink for £10.00
The meal is a good portion, the Fish is quite large well cooked, like a Fish Shop. Plenty of chips and a good bowl of tasty mushy peas, You get a pot of tea and a sit down in nice surroundings. You paid £16.27 for one meal, Morrisons charged £10 for two that is £5 for one., That means the cost was 320% more than Morrisons. Actually the Morrison's meal actually looked better.

Yeah, rained the last time I was in the Lake District too. That was on a day trip from Blackpool in 2019. We went by train to Windermere, then bus to Keswick, ate at the Keswick Grill chippy, right in the centre of town, really nice!
I actually remeber first going to Bowness on a school trip in 1982, with my geography teacher Miss Evans encouraging us to study the geographical features of the lake. All us lads were interested in were the features of Miss Evans!

Last time my wife and I were there was 2019 and enjoyed some of the best fish and chips I’ve ever eaten. The shop was packed with long lines of tourists and locals. I don’t remember it as being exceptionally expensive especially for a tourist destination. Sorry to hear the quality and value for money has slipped. I miss 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 England.

It really winds me up when the fish is placed on top of the chips and the batter looked terrible so a lot of food would have gone soggy. You should never eat from a box unless you take it away either. This increase of price should be the other way around or at least the same price. If anybody walked past and saw a shop of full tables it has to be the best way to advertise. Chips looked ok so I’ll go with 6 and that’s for the Irn Bru.

£9.75 for fish and chips seems reasonable, well compared to Bristol prices, the total bill did include peas, a curry sauce, and a drink and eat-in, so all in all to me not that expensive, but you will have to forgive me living in the South of England everything oop! north seems to be cheaper, where we do agree is on that batter it looked like he forgot to put it in the fryer, they say you should never go back and in this instance, they look like they were right a shame.

Hi Mate. Yeah have to agree that wasn't good at all. Could tell straight away when i saw the fish what you're reaction would be. I was worried you'd get food poisoning for it being undercooked it looked that anaemic. The chips looked decent enough as i don't mind the scrag ends at the bottom myself. The price though is undefendable. I wouldnt even pay that for a good quality fish and chips. No excuse for them charging that no matter how much things have gone up.
I completely understand you being upset as there's been numerous places i used to go to with my late mom and dad that were excellent, only to revisit them years later and find out they're now awful. Nostalgia can hit in but you have to be honest on the spot and say how it is, like you have on this vlog. I'll go 3/10 buddy at a push. Lovely scenery of the lakes though. Really need to go one day.
Thanks for sharing as always mate. Look forward to catching up with more 🙂👍

I would have been disappointed to pay that price for below par fish and chips. That batter looked anaemic as you said. Fish served by fish and chip shops is nearly always pre-frozen fish.
