Check the e46 sport coupes of mercedes benz, yes, ugly, but what you get from them is a dying breed of cars, in europe, the clc is the bridge between the toyota gt86 and old cheap rwd coupes, and they can be had for a really good price, without too much Equipment to keep weight as low as possible, maintenance comes with that too, if you are ready to own a weird looking car with okay performance and thats rare, with a manual Transmission, the clc is for you, if you find a c350 sport coupe, i would dare to say its on par with the 350z or atleast the g35, without the bad build quality and shady previous owners
I have a CL203 from 2006 with the exact same engine + manual gearbox. Such a great engine. You have a subtil but good sounding engine which you can drive very comfortable aswell as sporty. I absolutely love it. I plan to swap the Sportmotor from the SL350 into my car. For most parts its the same engine, but its stronger built and revs higher to achieve 316hp instead of 272hp :)
I reckon a limited slip differential will wake this small mercedes up, along with good tires, suspension and i find the understeer performance rather boring compared to a bmw, it feels safer and easier to drive but i reckon some simple service/upgrade mods will make it a charm in the corners, it feel heavy but planted, though the first gear in my c230 is a bit short for my liking, would rather have it longer to keep the revs higher on the 2nd and 3rd shifts, and its explosive if you push the throttle just a tad bit more in the wet ;)
