It feels the same for me
"Without astrophotography there would be a big hole in my life"
it's just all I got to enjoy after work.

Does the QHY produce non-concentric halos like the 2600 from ZWO does? For ZWO its either an internal reflection in the sensor or the AR coating on the sensor glass is bad. Either way ZWO does not want to address this issue.

It’s okay, Tim. As they say “absence makes the heart grow fonder.” Time away from the hobby will be beneficial. I know this from experience.

Thanks for sharing your personal experience and pictures with the 268c :) Maybe a small thing to add, since I didn't notice it at first, too: The "rollovers" for readout mode #0 and mode #1 are 26 and 56, not 30 and 60 as the graphs suggest. There is now also Appendix 4 on the QHY website with some measurements in mode #1, suggesting to use gain 58 or 59 instead of 60 since 58/59 performs nearly exactly the same as 60, but with ~8% more dynamic range. Probably not directly visible, but measurable and I found that "free performance" pretty neat :)

Hi Tim. I'm pretty new to this hobby and I've enjoyed your videos so much over the last few months. Life is a journey, not a destination, so even though you have to make a detour for your internship I'd like to thank you for the many hours I've spent watching the videos you've already posted. We will all still be here in a years time :) Go have fun and stay safe :)

Good review Tim, cheer up, the Astroaddict project is a great project and this will give you a break to come back with more strength.
    Clear skies from Spain.

It's worse than "devastating to viewers" - Lol.
As Nigel Tufnell would say, "It's a complete catastrophe"!

I have the QHY 294C. The attachment rings thing is a problem there too. I bought mine used and it came with an OAG but I've never used it because it's such a pain to set up.

Toller Bericht Tim, Kopf hoch. Alles Gute weiterhin

Get a Microscope and do micro-photography for now. And learn coding so you can make your own astro-website and modify it anytime and anyhow you want to. Maybe even design your own astrophotography software. and get laid ;)

Very interesting..... this camera is likely above my abilities so I'll pass on it for now. It does create some wonderful images however. As far as your near future circumstances and the likely inability to continue your hobby I'll keep my subscription intact and look forward to your future videos. I think we all understand what you'll be going through. My current residence has small windows of opportunity for astrophotography so I take advantage of what I've got when I can get it. It is what it is. Perhaps we can see some entry level Pixinsight tutorials... hint hint!

Life is full of change. We all understand that. Enjoy some time with landscapes (and your girlfriend). We will be waiting for your return! I bought the 2600 MC Pro this summer. It is fantastic on my refractor. Seems a little more plug and play than the QHY. Dr B from Manitoba, 🇨🇦

Hello Tim. Greetings from Toronto. You have built a great audience. I recently subscribed and will be waiting for you to resume your RUclips videos. Nothing can be perfect. I decided to get my wife involved in my hobby and now we are both navigating in the same boat. Clear skies.

As to the lack of USB ports on the back of the camera, for the mono version, there IS a dedicated port on the back of the camera (the color has the same port) for the QHY filter wheel, which supplies both power and control. Of course, there is a power input and USB input if you wish to use those.
I wish you well in your internship, and I'm sure you'll be done soon enough and back home and posting again.

I have this camera and love it. I agree though, I'm hesitant to move it from my 120mm esprit because it was such a PITA to achieve prime focus. I have so many shims and adapters in the train I would have to make a movie to remember how to put it back together. It would be nice to try it on my redcat. I'll do it eventually but there has to be a better way QHY.

Great images Tim. This newest generation of cooled astronomy cameras really make a world of difference. I also own a newer generation comparable to this camera as well as the older ZWO ASI294 MC-pro.
We’re fortunate to have options to capture these amazing images of the night sky. Cheers!
