- So after giving it some serious thought, I finally bit the bullet and picked up some KMC XD229 Machete Crawl Beadlocks for my 2015 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. There are a lot of benfits to running a beadlock out on the trail and in this video I share with you thought behind picking these wheels and some of the pros and cons.

Love watching your videos on how your jeep build is transitioning. The new wheels look great. I'm a big fan of the chromed/polished wheel also. Can't wait to see the new bumpers and fenders, that will make it all come together for you. Should give it a very aggressive stance. Thanks for all the work you put into your videos, I really appreciate it. Because of your videos, I am going to get a couple of Auxbeam light bars for my truck, thank you for all of your product reviews. I'm a big fan of your live car/off road shows and videos and rig walk around S that you do.👍
hey! thanks for making the video... you really don't know how videos like these help a guy make an educated decision. and a real visual ! great vid.
I love that they give the Jeep such a nice classic look! Those wheels are awesome!
After watching this video I'm convinced I need these wheels. I'm partial to the black wheel with the silver ring since my Jeep is white. Thanks for the video Brad.
They look great. Love the channel. Always great info.
With the new wheels and new KC bar nice and chrome. That thing is looking good. Can't wait to hear your review on them after hitting the trail. Keep up the awesome work!
After a couple month a wheel follow up I think will be in order. Thanks!
I personally like the polished aluminum. Seems everyone has black these days and the polished wheels really make you stand out. Nice choice!
There are more black rims on Jeeps than polished aluminum for sure... Thank you!
Agreed 👍🏽. I want to get new wheels for my 79 CJ and im having a hard time finding 15x10 polished wheels.
Enjoyed the video, good luck with the new wheels!
Polished aluminum bead locks look awesome, it’s nice to see that look come back, I grew up with Crager wheels on our hot rods and those classic American wheels, I’m considering getting bead locks at the time of writing this, the hard part is going to find a shop that can balance them out for me, and you are correct Northridge 4 X 4 is awesome I’ve been dealing with them for many years.
Love the polished wheels. Nice pick!!!
Love the polished aluminum look. Never have been a fan of black wheels. The new wheels look awesome!
Looks amazing love the polished look. I have a 2019 Armada Sl and can't wait to do it to her
I was full intent on going black But when they Method 106 beadlocks came out i fell in love with the bronze and couldnt resist ordered as soon as they were available they are sitting waiting for my tires to get here and get installed.
Love the look of those wheels, I'm also going against the black with my new XD 132's.
Super huge congrats man! Nice look..see ya around
Wheels look fantastic, great choice.
Those are nice MCPO!!!! I like the polish and the tire choice!
Your pitch is why ….3 yrs ago I put these on my 2013 JKU. Thanks for the video Brad.
Gotta have a bit of bling for those times when your not working the Trail, Mega Cool, Major Thumbs UP.
Great pick up. Love the wheels.
Yeah, those wheels are very nice Brad. I was just thinking about going to a beadlock wheel myself. The only thing is, I don't get to air down past 20 lbs psi at all and the tires hold the bead great at that pressure.
I like the look on your Jeep, silver with the polished aluminum. My Jeep is Black so I think I would go black or dark. Love the lights also.
Love it I’m having it on 35s tires for my 1995 range rove LWB. yes people it has 5 inch lift on it.
Wow!!! I thought I would say I hate the chrome but I looks awesome!! Great job!!
Thank you!
I love these videos. Also I dont own a jeep sadly but I have a f150 with the fx4 offroad package and it plays hard. Soe of these mods and accessories would look good on my truck but your tips for offroad are universal for any offroader
that's looks grate man. love those wheels.
Love your videos. Keep it up.
I currently have stock rims painted black but I'm gonna go for the shiny chrome look to stand out more. Seems like most people have black rims on their Jeeps
Love the Machined color on your JEEP - Great choice. Im getting the Machetes's next month for my White 16 JKUR in 8x6.5. BUT still havent decided if I want Black or Machined for the white Jeep - I lean towards black then I see your Jeep and I lean the other way. Decisions , decisions ...... Love your Chanel - Keep us posted on the wheel updates - like ease of cleaning and how the finish holds up !
I think you are going to love the quality of the KMC's and go with polished! They would look great on a white Jeep!! Follow up to come in a month or so, thanks!
Congrats Brad!! They look AWESOME!!! I prefer black but I think you made a great decision! Your rig will really stand out amongst outher Jeeps!! Can't wait to see them with some trail rash...😉
Hitting the trail this weekend..... not looking forward to the rash, but it's inevitable. Thanks!
Great looking wheel. Appreciate your site.
You made my mind up. Bead locks it is for me too. Thank you. A couple of questions.... Going through water.... what are the limitations and trouble areas to protect against? Also, on a 2015 JK 4door rubicon, the blank button spaces next to the sway and axle locks... How and what can you put there?
They look good! It is a change from the usual blacked out look that are now coming standard on cars coming off the lot...love the channel btw
Thanks for the video. I want to get beadlocks for my 2017 JKUR and I'll probably get the KMCs because you spoke highly of them
After having them on for a week now, I will say I love them, but still need to hit the trail and put them though their paces! Thanks!
TrailRecon Awesome! Thanks for replying! Can't wait to see a vid with you airing down and putting them to the test
I love the wheels, looks great with the chrome
Yes I like the look. I just can’t get used to black, but the gold ones on curtain color vehicles really looks great
What is the reason you not supposed to run them on a daily driver .
Those look great! Good call on showing the beadlock disclaimer, I could only imagine some of the comments you would've got on that! Awesome video as always.
Ya, gotta throw out a disclaimer once and a while.! Thanks man!
Great video! And they look awesome !!
Thank you sir!
Love the polished look
I wish all disclaimers came with your level of enthusiasm. I got a good laugh out of that.
I don't off-road but I want these anyway. Although I might after watching your channel...Awesome!
Im old school and i dig that chrome look!
Great looking wheel on a great looking Jeep. I ran beadlocks on my TJ rock crawler and they performed exactly as they were designed. My only problem with beadlocks is that they are a PAIN IN THE ASS to clean. Getting the mud out from behind the bead ring is an exercise in futility, to say the least.
Cleaning and polishing are not going to be fun, great point!

Love the look and love polish...I'm looking at a set of the TR (Trail Ready) Bead locks.
These already have plenty of trail rash and are holding up well!
I like the black wheel more for myself. But I will say that your jeep does look alot better with the polished wheel then the stock rubi wheels. Looks great Brad. Love the channel.
The black Machete wheels would still have been a huge improvement over the stock rubi wheels, but man, I'm love the look of the polished!
So shiny! They look great. I want to do a bronze/ copper wheel. I would love to afford beadlocks too but I'm poor lol
I like black alum wheels but I gotta admit those look good on your jeep, nice job
god job, please what size of tyre should i put on my 1008 Fj cruiser to be able to look like your wrangler?
Nice, simple and clean look!
Agree!!!
hey Brad, belated congrats on the new rims. I'm not much of a silver tone wheeler, tend to go w/ half tone polished. Your jeep looks good on those rims.
These rims have been serving me very well since installing them and I still love the polished look. Thanks!
Would love these in black with either yellow or orange inserts. Would match my rig perfectly.
For your rig, they look killer!
They do make these wheels in black with a polished ring that could be painted.. might be an option for some folks. Thanks!
Hey man I would like to know what gears are you running for your 37" tires and how is your MPG
Those looks GREAT. I have black pro-comps, and today they look terrible with all those gouges, so one day I will do this. And the bonus is you can replace the rim if they get real bad. One thing I noticed was the tire guy in the video. Since these wheels are aluminum I’d be concerned that someone would be too quick with the mounting, and strip-out the threading with the air gun. Aluminum is much more sensitive to cross threading, especially with an air gun. In other words, I would surely want them to get each bolt started by hand first.
You are so correct, starting each both my hand is essential. These beadlock threads have steel liners and with 3/8th inch bolt they are pretty solid. Something we were discussing while he was installing the last wheel. He said he has has some of the smaller 5/16th bolts break on him in the past. Thanks!
How did you get red center caps? Nice touch!
Nice upgrade. I like the look!!
you should do a review of these now that you have had them for nearly 2 years. ive had mine for about a year now and i must say these are amazing wheels.
Getting ready for a set myself. Which lug nuts and/or locks did you go with?
Sharp looking wheels there Brad! The first scratches only sting for a minute but it goes away real quick. 😎
All seriousness... They look bada$$!!
LOL! I'm already preparing myself for the first scratches! Thanks!
Hello Brother! Congrats on your retirement. I'm a Master Chief as well and got my JKU based on a promise that if I made it, I would buy a Jeep. Well I got the Jeep, now I'm jealous at all the mods that are out there.
I just bought a set of paracord grab handles based on your instagram pictures, thanks for the inadvertent referral to supporting a fellow veteran!
Sincerely,
Ryan
Hey Brother, thanks for checking out the channel! You are going to need all that extra E-9 pay to cover your Jeep mod expenses now! LOL! Thanks for supporting Veteran Off-Roads grab handles. He is a great guy making a great product.
I'm usually a fan of going blacked out, but these wheels look very nice on your rig. You should definitely do a video a couple of months from now to review how they hold up on the trail. Stay safe and have a nice day!
I'll be talking about how they are holding up in the future for sure. They did already get their first trail rash, you can check it on instagram @trailrecon
niceee, they do look really good
I have always wondered why it's only the outside of the wheel that has the bead lock. What prevents the inner bead from coming off when your aired down?
They look great Brad...it's funny how I'm coming back to shiny wheels and bright paint like Chief Blue... I guess I'm outgrowing the Tactical colors scheme...
Hello Brad, nice wheels! I also got the KMC wheels with bead locks and having a hard time finding a shop to balance them here in norcal. Did your guy use the conventional weight balancers, or did he use the beads method? Thanks in advanced.
never mind on the rubber sizing.. just picked that info up down in the threads 35s
Those look nice.... officially on the wish list.
hallo, can use this whells on my jeep with 3" liftkit with 37" tires 12.5/70 with no space whels ? tx
Great wheels, not for me personally but they look phenomenal.... nice video, keep up the good work.
They look great Brad. Anyone know if the JK has the same bolt pattern and fit as the new JL?
I recently got new tires from the dealer (jeep had low tread when I bought it so they gave me them no charge) they were off a newer Rubicon. I really like the new Rubi wheels Vs stock. Ko2s are doing great too. My only complaint is they like to hold stones and my tpms is going off now.
Those are seriously nice wheels.
I watch alot of your videos, I live here in northern Colorado, on the East side of the continental devide. I listen to alot of music while wheeling, and I was curious where you get the soundtracks for your videos? Like this video, when you showcase the wheels, or the Blackbear pass video, when you start dropping down into telluride.
hello trailrecon how exactly they balanced those tires? thanks in advance! i love the colour choice by the way
Very nice! I need to do a little research into the twin schrader to see what it's all about. I thought for sure you'd cover it in a little more detail. I've now seen the twin valve stem on your new wheels and Kevin and Brit's JT build. Great looking wheel though Brad.
Dang man the Jeep is looking awesome! !
Thank you, she is coming along nicely.
Very nice looking. Where did you get the red anodized center caps? Just got the XD polished 132 RG2 and want to break the contrast up a little but can't find the red anodized caps anywhere! Thanks
Looks great !
Scott.
Do you have any problems choosing tres for these rims? I looked at another brand with a list of wheels that would fit.
The beadlocks look great! my only beef is trying to keep them clean. I live in Georgia so we dont have a lot of rock crawling here, mostly mud and clay so Im not sure if the beadlock is the right choice for me.
Love those wheels! What offset did you go with? I see they come in -32 or more
Great video. Thanks. How did you get the red center? You powder coated yourself or does KMC wheels have color options?
Love the polished look, what size tires are you running?
I have a set of these in my garage being mounted by myself, first one took a solid hour but I think I can get it down to ~20 min/tire. Northridge had them here so fast, they even offered to mount and balance for a small fee but I'm a glutton for punishment. Say! I'm really curious how you got your red rings around the hub?
Were the red caps an option when purchasing these wheels? That really makes them stand out. I would Love a set of these on my 1990 4x4 Toyota SR5 PickUp.
First, I'd like to say those wheels look great, loved the review and thank you for sharing. Next, I had a couple questions. I assume they're not DOT approved, so how do you get home from the trail? Are you familiar with B.A.D. (Bead assist device) wheels, DOT approved bead locks? And the final question, I wonder what your scrub radius is now, have you calculated your steering angle inclination?
How were your wheel spacers and what company. What tire size were you running.
Just got these wheels and attempting to mount KM3 BFG Mud Terrain. When securing the beadlock ring, there's a 1/4" gap from the tire bead and the wheel. Was this your experience??
Looking good my man, new shiny shoes for the JK!
Thank you!
Good looking wheels on that rig.
I like the polished look especially if you could get the center polished body color
Looks like I won't be the only one climbing that driverside wall getting through the squeeze. Only one way to find out. Let's go get some!
Let's go!!
I'm a black wheel guy but I have to admit they look awesome on your Jeep. Questions; what good are bead lockers if they only lock the outer rim but not the inner?
Looks awesome!
Do they recommend a retorque of the bolts after each off roadiing trip?
those are fkn awsome dude hell yea and bead locks rule to cant beat them !!! polished rules
You definitely made the right move going with the aluminum vs steel. I also like the fact that you didn't go with black rims that everyone and their mom has. I have machined face Method NV wheels on my Jeep (with the FAKE beadlock look!) ;-)
We put black rims on the XJ and I now wish I would have put polished aluminum on there.
Nice beadlocks! Personally i am more of a flat black or gun metal rim guy but the chrome looks great on your Jeep!
Is inner bead a vulnerable spot ?? Just seems with an aired down tire that inner bead might separate
Very cool wheels, they look great. I lean more towards the black unpolished look. So are bead locks illegal to run on the highway?
Looks amazing brad
Thank you!
