      I think film critics in 10 years will come back and hail it as one of the great films of all time. I just watched it for a third time and the first two times it went over my head. It's really an incredible film.

    A legendary masterpiece. Sadly overlooked because just below the surface it lies an abstract and universal search for human essence meaning, as big food for thought as 2001 Space odissey... A hermetic film that needs to be watched many times, with narrative and symbolic layers, it's not a simple movie about a cult and a troubled man that admires a Master. For me the biggest and most surprising film of this century.

      To be fair it was nominated for three Oscars - I'm not sure that counts as overlooked. I agree that it's one of the finest films of the century!

    Reasons i stopped using imdb. they rated this movie 7.10.
    guardians of the galaxy 8.10..... come on

      @canobenitez 8 лет назад +12

      i stopped using rotten tomatoes after they rated How to train your dragon 2 with 100% and Alien with %99

    • @mundicox8951
      @mundicox8951 7 лет назад +6

      Generally I trust IMDB because they seem to give everything the ratings they deserve but they can also be pretty off. I'v recently been super put off by seeing films like Deadpool or Avengers get a rating as good as 8.1, when there's masterpieces like this or The Social Network that get lower than that.
      And I just generally don't even bother with Rotten Tomatoes, they're just off on everything

    • @estebanmejia3473
      @estebanmejia3473 6 лет назад +9

      Metacritic is the one I prefer, it's the most accurate most of the times.
      IMDb is what the general audience thinks, that's why this kind of movies don't get what they deserve.
      And rotten tomatoes is definitely the worst!, if all they top critics give the movie a 6/10 it'll get a 100%,that's why so many movies get high ratings

      iCrackediTTv Well, its a more entertaining film, thats for sure, it is catchy, easy to digest and you fall in love with the characters quite quick, thats the kind of film it is, something like boogie nights.

    Wow, he was a bit offended by the first question it seems. ALTHOUGH, I completely understand where Paul is coming from, he must be so sick of people thinking that this is a "Scientology" movie, that it's a "Cult" film...nonononooo...this is about a broken man after the war, a very lonely man that finds a the best love he's had since Doris, Lancaster. I really feel that this is mostly a film about a man battling himself, or at least someone that very much so reminds them of himself

    When you put two giants in front of one camera the last thing I need is a plot so, yes. I'm going to watch this tonight for the first time and yes, I am going to re-watch it about 200 times until the end of the year. I will not rest until I study every single frame. And that's a promise.

    I find PTA rolling his eyes when asked about Scientology and this movie really annoying. Anyone who's read Bare Faced Messiah cannot help but see that this is OBVIOUSLY inspired by L Ron Hubbard's life. 'Inspired' might be too loose a word, it's a direct adaptation. I get that you don't want all the garbage that Scientology will subject you to but it's a bit cowardly to make this film and then roll your eyes at people wanting to know about that.

    " he is dangerous " shows him fighting the cops.

      Could you elaborate on this?

    • @weasley2o13
      @weasley2o13 5 лет назад +13

      You could've shared your analysis of the film without insulting other people's intelligence by stating that "nobody gets it." I got it, without your help. So, good for you for figuring it out, but others did too, so, being humble would only do you good, I promise. Because I, personally, learn best from people who wants to share with me, not lecture me. Just a tip.
