If you are watching this, do yourself a big favour and DO NOT clean your foam air filter with gasoline, and don't dry it by sitting in the sun, gas degrades the foam and it will start to break down, UV light also degrades the foam.
All you need is warm water and regular detergent to clean a foam filter, or regular mineral solvent if you feel you need to use solvent.
Don't use gas, or dry in the sun, you can thank me later.

Not sure what to tell ya. I’ve been doing this for 10+ years and I’ve never had a problem with it. The foam filters hold up fine. I’ve never seen the foam deteriorate and I’ve definitely never seen dirt in the air box because of it. If your foam filter can’t be out in the sun for 15 minutes (in direct sunlight or not it doesn’t really matter) you should just leave your bike in garage. It’s certainly not going to last on the trail.

I do this all the time, my air filter is white and after a few rides it gets brown, and I clean it with gasoline and it works. Never deteriorates, but I don't dry mine after cleaning it with gasoline, I ring it out gently, then put air filter oil on it to collect dust and dirt. Have done 4+ cleans with gasoline, and it still works.

I have used gasoline to clean my air filters for 40 years. I’ve never once had an issue. The only thing I do different is after using gasoline I use dawn dish soap and warm water to eliminate all the hydrocarbons; then rinse, wring out and let dry for about 20-30 minutes. Oil the filter and you’re good to go for another twenty hours dirt biking.
