Great interview!
And surprisingly long and in-depth! (Something I´ve TBH missed with the one with Ken McLeod!).
Christopher Ruocchio siad some very important at around 50:00 when he tlked about all those things that are maybe lost forever soon because the last witnesses of the first three generations of SF writers slowly fade away.
That´s why I always recommend Phil Harbottle´s and Gary Lovisi´s channels.
Hi Thorsten. I'm finding that the interview videos get very few views relatively speaking, seems to be a pattern even on bigger channels. Most folks aren't interested. Still, i enjoy meeting the authors so that's a good enough reason. My chat with Adam Roberts will be a similar length I think. Thanks for watching 👀!
Audible allows you to keep all the books credits or other even if you cancel. The books that get removed are the free books and podcasts.
Yes, thanks, i was pretty sure that was the case. Thanks for watching 👀!
ADDENDUM: I´ve got something to say about the Jack Parson/JPL connection Christopher Ruocchio mentions - one of the things that people really misunderstand about Corwleys occultism is that he was much more grounded than the media portrayed. Especially in the later years Crowley´s thought went much more in a direction that was closer to free-masonry and rosiccrucianism. It was much more about self-improvement than doing spiritual stuff.
While I consider Crowley as interesting in ways, I don´t consider it a danger in society. In contrast to another connection of Parsons, L. Ron Hubbard - the founder of Scientology.
In fact a surprising large number of scientists had at least a part of their life in occult directions. And in most cases those weren´t the "loonie" ones (ike certain ancient astronaut or similar stuff freaks) but respected members of the scientific community (including Nobel price winners)
(Ok, that was the TLDR version now LOL)
I relate to your comments jon on thinking I was very well read in SF and in general. Once I started watching channels such as yours I found myself thinking similarly never heard of this author , that book . The thing I’ve enjoyed more than anything is being introduced to new / old books I’ve somehow missed . Great interview many thanks🫡
There's always more books! Glad you enjoyed it, i enjoyed chatting to him. Thanks for watching 👀!
