Thank you so much for posting this. I knew there was a problem with the connection. Man I replaced the pump then no float reading zero connection no sound. There was a plug wiring kit like the one you showed came with the new pump, thought it was for another model/year Thanks again
I am guessing so I’ve seen a lot of videos where they change the wiring as well. My fuel pump just went out yesterday and I bought one at AutoZone and I put it in. It didn’t come on. But when I put the OEM one back in, they want to come back on, but it didn’t. So yes, the wiring you have to change as well
It helped me on my 2006 300c 5.7. The fuel pump from autozone didn’t come with instructions and after installing it, it wouldn’t power the pump. Did this with the new fuel pump harness and it worked. Thank you so much!
I had a similar problem, the pump I bought did not come with a new harness, and the plug fit the new pump, but it would not fully engage until it clicked in, so the contacts were not engaging. There was something defective about the way the top portion of the new pump was made, so I just re-used the top part of the old pump and it worked fine.
This video definitely helped I didn’t know I had to switch the two cables that’s why I was getting told no gas on my dash and flashing gas light when I had half a tank a😅definitely helped a lot and was able to get it running thank you!!

Question for you my friend. I have a 2017 Dodge Charger SXT. Car suddenly wouldnt start and after testing some other components (relay, fuse, starter, batter) we pin pointed it to be the fuel pump. The fuel pump wasnt cutting on when putting key in the "Run" position. No sound at all coming from pump. Changed the fuel pump but NOT the wiring specified in your video. However, the vehicle DID start up and ran for a little over a week and it is now doing the same thing as b4. It wont start. Its turning over but actin like it needs gas. Just doesnt wanna start. Could it be that wiring? Or perhaps a different issue?
So after you replaced the fuel pump, the vehicle was operational for a week? Are you now getting the same issue as before? What is your fuel pressure reading now?

The pump you replaced was Delphi?? The pump should have come with a pigtail connector. Did the car crank after you replaced the pump without the harness?

Do you have to do this each time you change the full pump? I ran into this problem years ago and fixed it just like you stated. I just changed the fuel pump again but it didn't come with a new wire harness. it's not starting. do I need to get a new fuel pump with a new wire harness if I already changed it out the last time?
I bought a fuel pump for a dodge charger sxt 2013 but the fuel pump I bought didn’t come with the wires can I just buy the wire connector separately and it still work?
I changed my fuel pump the aftermarket pump did not come with a harness when I turn the key to run I can hear the pump turn on but I still get a crank no start would my wires need to be swapped around if I can hear the pump? I’m looking at the dodge wiring diagram & it’s the updated way
I replaced the fuel pump on my 300 it worked fine then stopped working and now the pump doesn’t turn on. I changed it thinking it was faulty and still no power?
You have no power going into the pump? Have you checked the wiring diagram? fuses? relay? I believe many Chrysler and dodge vehicle also suffer from fuse box issues with the pump circuit
I have a 2016 dodge charger RT scat pack. I changed both fuel pumps and change the harness. I get a crank but the car rough idles and then dies out. I got a fuel level sensor 2 circuit high voltage code and also a throttle actuator control system sudden high airflow detected code… please help I can’t find any solutions anywhere!!!
I just had my OEM fuel pump and sending unit replaced in my 2015 dodge charger with a Delphi fuel pump and sending unit and it still won’t start. I now get a “service fuel sensor” error. Will changing to the updated harness fix that as well as the No start? What is the name and part number for it?
I drive a 2016 charger 3.6l and replaced my pump with a car quest fuel pump, it did not come with a new plug I install it and everything starts and runs great but I get a message on the dash “service fuel level sensor” I have already replaced the pump one more time thinking it was defective and after seeing this video I went and bought a new plug from dodge and wired it with the updated way and now the vehicle won’t start. So I wired it the original way and the vehicle does run great just get a flashing gas gauge and that error message. I am also getting DTC code p2068 and p0463 and I am stuck scratching my head. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated
okay so both codes are related to the Fuel level Sensor B. I believe you another Level sensor "B" on the other side of the fuel pump you replaced that transfers the fuel from one side of the tank to the other

I had to fix my oil pump and waited on it for a few months and was way overdue on the oil change since I was waiting . I ended up literally using all oil, no oil in dipstick, so I ended up adding oil and scheduling the new oil pump with a new oil change . But after fixing now the fuel pump apparently isn’t working . Can this be related to me messing with the cars oil somehow? Before I realized the car was empty on regular oil , the car WAS losing power as I was driving. I never had this issue, only happened when I became long overdue with an oil change. I don’t understand how lack of an oil change can cause fuel pump issue though, is it just coincidence? Do I need a flush? Or just replace the fuel pump? My car is already at the shop but I want to understand and my questions don’t really get answered when I ask them
Well the oil lubricates all the components inside the engine under pressure, and running low in oil will cause low oil pressure and a bad pump can cause low oil pressure in which the pump would need to be replaced. But that would not make a fuel pump malfunction or could cause it to malfunction
So I changed the fuel pump, both sides, back then . Now I had to take it to the dealer bc I got a new code p0436( I believe ) . Basically the code was referring to my gas pump again but more so the gas wouldn’t read right, so it was I’d empty and my car wouldn’t start again . I would like to add that I purchased this same pump, twice from two different advanced auto parts. The first one didn’t come with the wire, I thought I had a defective unit so I took the main pump back to the store and they swapped it out for me and gave me all the papers and the wire, which I then realized after installing for a second time with no luck on trying to get it to prime, but the second one didn’t come with the paper confirming what this video says, that is must be replaced, i only got a manual that explained that it should be replaced if it was a classic 4 prong and needing to convert to 5 prong, So the way I found out how to wire it up and confirming that it does in fact need to be replaced regardless is because of this video, i had been out to this customers house like 6 times. The connector should have came with your pump, if not, I would search to see if they sell the connector separately. I apologize for the really late response!
I change my fuel pump my battery starter and spark plugs but still wont start 2018 Dodge Charger. When I try to start it all I hear is a click! What does that mean. I’ve been going at this for about 3 days
Craigslue you still there? I have an 2006 300 C. I'm replacing the defective OEM pump with an DELPHI PUMP. and you mentioned the TWO WIRES on the factory connecter can swapped. Are those TWO WIRES easy to remove and reconnected back into the factory plastic connector. This would be by far the better way to have the proper power to the NEW DELPHI PUMP instead of cutting, soldering in the new connector.
you can buy the connector wire terminal remover, i dont know the exact name but it is a kit where you have different size tools to remove wires from the connectors
This vehicle comes with two pumps, what I mean by that is that the pump on the passenger side is just a "transfer pump" which transfers fuel to the driver side tank when the driver side tank becomes low, but the pump that sends the fuel to the engine is on the drivers side
@@ayalejandro whats the fuel pressure? if the fuel pressure is at spec, then the issue isnt fuel related, any trouble codes? a CAM sensor would not cause a no start but a CRANK Sensor would

If your pump has an extra harness with it then yes, it will need to be replaced. This was an update made so the positive and negative terminals of the fuel pump motor won't be together causing heat and burning up the terminal connector
Hey bro i finally figured what the problem was but now i have another problem could you please help me figure out if my wires are connected in order the problem now is my gas gauge is showing incorrect readings so basically it tells me that I'm on e when I'm really not and it tells me that I have gas in the car when I don't at times
Okay, so this vehicle has 2 pumps, a main pump and a transfer pump on the passenger side, you need to make sure the hose that runs from the transfer pump to the main pump is routed correctly is also functional
Yeah I'm going to pop it open and look at that tomorrow I'm having this problem now we're it cranks but no start then when it does start it just dies out on me and I kept getting the code p2066
The harness should come with the replacement pump! If it does not come with the pump, then maybe that pump doesn't have the updated terminal placement on the pump itself.

@@RodriguezRepairshey buddy we finally got it figured out the wiring inside the pump itself was the fault so now it cranks with the new harness but my problem is now the fuel level sensor isn't working correctly could you give me some pointers on how you wired up the wires to not have a problem with the fuel level sensor wire
Thanks for the vid men! Helped out a lot!
Glad it helped!
Great video. You got me out of a bind 😅
Im a glad i could help! :)
great video man thanks alot, was going craxzy wonderign why it wasnt workign after replacing both ! you saved me
No problem 👍I glad i could help!
Was it a crank no start???
Where did you buy the connector from?
The connector should have came with your pump, if not, I would search to see if they sell the connector separately. I apologize for the really late response!
I change my fuel pump my battery starter and spark plugs but still wont start 2018 Dodge Charger. When I try to start it all I hear is a click! What does that mean. I’ve been going at this for about 3 days
@Rodriguez Repairs
Are you getting power to the starter? +12v?
Sounds like might try a ground motor to body
What was it ?
How do i get that updated harness
Part number of the harness? I change the fuel pump right now. Won't start.
the harness didnt come with your new pump?
@@RodriguezRepairs no.
Its trugrade fuel pump.
I was told to change the ECU.
Thanks bro ur a life saver
Happy to help!!
Where can I buy the harness mine came without one..
It should come with your new pump. I recommend Delphi pumps
Does anyone know the part number for just the harness?
What did you do with the engine code
Well the engine code wasnt related to the fuel pump, it was a code the vehicle had already with a O2 sensor slow response
I replaced pump on 2016 Chrysler 300s but now it says service fuel sensor
Did your pump come with a harness? When you installed your pump did you route the hose from the transfer pump correctly?
Where did you order this from
Its a Delphi fuel pump, it comes with the whole assembly
Can I just cut the original wire harness 3 and 4 and connect it that way?
I brought the fuel pump and it didn't come with the connector
@@ericparker76 yes, you could also swap the 2 wire in the connector itself.
This would be by far the better way to have the proper power to the NEW DELPHI PUMP instead of cutting, soldering in the new connector.
yes you can do this!
you can buy the connector wire terminal remover, i dont know the exact name but it is a kit where you have different size tools to remove wires from the connectors
Are you sure you put the new pump in the right side? Mine was in the passenger side not drivers
This vehicle comes with two pumps, what I mean by that is that the pump on the passenger side is just a "transfer pump" which transfers fuel to the driver side tank when the driver side tank becomes low, but the pump that sends the fuel to the engine is on the drivers side
I installed both pumps and followed the guide perfectly, my charger is cranking but it’s not starting. I’m stumped
Are you sure the initial diagnosis pointed to the fuel pump? Did you check fuel pressure at the motor already?
@@RodriguezRepairs yes i did, i have fuel pressure. i just replaced the camshaft sensor and its still just cranking, no start
@@ayalejandro whats the fuel pressure? if the fuel pressure is at spec, then the issue isnt fuel related, any trouble codes? a CAM sensor would not cause a no start but a CRANK Sensor would
@@RodriguezRepairs found the issue, it skipped timing, broke the cam sprocket, then broke the camshaft, then bent the valve
@ayalejandro my dodge charger rt scat pack is doing the same thing after fuel pump change. Did you have any engine codes? I got a throttle actuator control system sudden high airflow detected code and fuel level sensor 2 circuit high voltage? SOS PLEASE HELP!!!
Would this also be the same problem for a 5.7 charger?
yes, both pump connectors should be the same
So do I have to use the new plug on my 2011 rt
If your pump has an extra harness with it then yes, it will need to be replaced. This was an update made so the positive and negative terminals of the fuel pump motor won't be together causing heat and burning up the terminal connector
think its the same thing for a 2007 chrysler 300?
somebody respond please!!! really need some help right now
Yes it does goofy dude. Just try it and find out
Where can I buy that exact same connecter?
The connector should have came with your new fuel pump assembly
My pump still turns on without new harness would it still turn on
you mean the pump turns on normally? no issues? then the pump doesnt have the revised pin configuration
What year is this charger?
Does this work on a 2010 model
Only if the fuel pump that you are putting in come with the wire swap. Otherwise, the wiring stays the same.
What trouble code you have
Can we get a link?
A link to what?
Awesome. You just helped me on a 2016 challenger
Glad to hear it! :)
Does this apply for 2010 dodge chargers too?
If replacing the fuel pump, and the pump comes with an updated harness (Most Delphi pumps) then it will apply to your year make and model
Mine didn’t come with them
What brand fuel pump did you use?
Hi what is the name of the harness?
The harness should come with the replacement pump! If it does not come with the pump, then maybe that pump doesn't have the updated terminal placement on the pump itself.
My floater is not working any idea why?
when you installed the pump, did you make sure the auxiliary pump or the pump in the other tank hose was installed correctly?
I did this and now I’m popping a p2068 code “fuel level sensor circuit high”
Hey! You need to make sure the transfer pump is connected correctly to the main pump, its located on the other rear seat
@@RodriguezRepairsok thanks I’m looking forward to getting them lock rings off again lol
@@RodriguezRepairsalso could it be possible that not putting the new plug and re wiring that to the car but instead I just rearranged the wires
Do you replace both pumps
its not neccesary to replace the transfer pump unless its bad
Worked out for me thank you very much brother
Glad to hear it!
You are the man!
Thank you!
Thank u men u save me i did same u did it and u was right thank u again
No problem 👍
Mine didn’t have a harness
Did the vehicle start after you replaced the pump?
Omg!!! 😫😫😫
Thanks for posting 😮💨👍
No problem 👍

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the feedback!
Do you know what's year this was anybody?
It was a 2015 Dodge Charger
Fuel pump wasn’t getting any power now it does still no start
Thank you!
I am glad I could help!

Having a hard time finding the updated plug
My pump isn’t turning on but fuel gauge level sshows accurate
are you getting power and ground to the fuel pump?
@@RodriguezRepairs yea lol I got it fixed I forget I wasted like 1/4 of gas😂
Great video it sure help
Glad to hear it!
Thanks bro
no problem! glad this video helped!
What if it dont start what should i do
Where you able to get your car started?
