    Before attempting a process like this, I highly recommend wiping down the vachetta with water wipes (baby wipes) a couple times and let dry in between. This helps even out the patina and in some cases the water spots will blend and go away. Unfortunately in your process here, you've just sealed those water spots in. Also if you plan to use a leather conditioner on any new vachetta pieces this process (water wipes) need to be done beforehand. It will clean and help build somewhat of a protective barrier against watermarks. When using a leather conditioner, please use a very small amount because it can actually attract more dirt. I would say everyone watching and reading the comments here should take good care with her process before attempting anything like this.
    For my own example with my process I'll submit this. I used water wipes on the vachetta handle and trimmings of my new Summer Trunks edition of the Pochette Metis. At a restaurant for dinner, he knocked over a full glass of Merlot which soaked my beautiful peach linen sundress and splashed on my Metis! I was a mess and upset but my purse was my 1st concern. I got home and wiped down my bag with the water wipes twice and when it dried, the red wine specks were gone. The dress however could not be saved. I am speaking from my own experience.
    Enjoy your LV bags ladies!

      I did this process. Use water wipes and clean all my bags first. I just sprayed two straps.

      I just want to say that when you read the apple guard directions it says that the item you are spraying needs to be clean and dry. I am all for using the apple guard but I would be concerned about spraying the vachetta that has water stains. Wouldn’t it be wise to try and clean the vachetta first to try and remove or even out the water spots?

      Wouldnt it crack the vachetta after using the wipes??

    I have used Apple Guard and I highly recommend it, great demo Cindy! Have you ever wondered why Louis Vuitton doesn't have their own line of products to care for their bags? I treated my Capucines bags with Scotch Guard and I had great results.Great video as always! XO

    • @AHeatedMess
      @AHeatedMess  4 года назад +6

      That's good to know, thanks Yota! I'm pretty sure LV just doesn't want the liability of customers using after care products incorrectly and potentially messing up their bags. I've seen pics of people using wayyy too much leather condition or apple garde and it almost destroyed the leather due to user error, so LV likely defaults to just advising customers officially to NOT use anything on the leather =)

    Lovely video. I probably would have used a clean damp cloth to lift the water marks on the Nice case before using the protector. I find that by simplying using water it removes water stains, rain drops etc. (to a certain degree of course). I have also just discovered BICK 4 Leather Conditioner that does not darken vachetta.

      Yes I will definitely post an update! The "official" LV response is always to leave the vachetta untreated but I've also heard several SAs will discreetly advise clients to use apple garde and conditions to maintain the condition and that they do the same. Hopefully it works out! Thanks so much for watching =)

    I just recently saw your channel & am enjoying your sharing your knowledge of LV bags. But I was just wondering why LV doesn't just treat the vachetta leather in production? They must realize that getting it stained & dirty is one of the biggest concerns of those who love their bags. I own just a couple bags & I handle them very carefully because I don't want the vachetta to get stained. I try to not even put my hands on the handles! Lol! Do you think they will ever make it standard practice to pretreat the leather?

    Hi what would you recommend to clean the canvas of a vintage LV bag ?

  • @debbieh9009
    @debbieh9009 2 года назад

    Awww so sorry you didn't get the water marks out but I heard a youtuber say for water marks use Huggies Pure Baby Wipes as there are no harsh chemicals or alcohol. That should have been done before you used the Apple Garde. Dab with the wipe. Don't rub hard. Dab and dab til you do ALL the vachetta not just the water stain as you need to keep it all uniform. Let it dry and do it again. Let it dry and condition leather with a gentle leather conditioner but don't soak it. Let it set. You need to put moisture back in so don't over do it with the wipes. If stain is still there do it again with the wipe. Let dry and do wipe again. Let dry and condition again The process is suppose to uniform the color. Repeat til you get the result you want. After you get it all uniform in color and have conditioned well 1 last time then let it dry over night and then Apple Garde with the Stain and Water Repellant. I haven't tried this tip personally but I did condition my vachetta and used Apple Garde on my new LV so currently I have no stains but if I do, I will try this myself.

      I try not to use vachetta leather in the rain or snow - if I get caught in it, I wipe the water off immediately so it doesn't stain. I would avoid wearing dark denim with DA if I can help it. Hope that helps! I plan to post another LV care and treatment video soon. Thanks for watching =)

    I like it when the bags get a darker patina so I don’t do anything with the vachetta. However I have a Chanel denim bag and I have a lot of suede shoes and I spray them with UGG protector. Bought it off Amazon

      Leslie Craven The Ugg spray is great on suede! I like darker patina on vachetta too - from the videos I’ve seen of others using Apple garde on their bags, the leather has still gotten a nice patina so hopefully this will just help prevent water stains! I’ll definitely post a follow up later. Thanks so much for watching 💞🤗
