Supper Cool ! I just got up and was drinking some coffee, watch the video, backed it up to full screen of your notes and cross ran all the numbers then took some notes. I think I'm going to make a work sheet and do this on every job I can so I never forget. Thanks Chad.
Great video Eddie, keep 'em coming !! This is some really great info for up and coming Techs and even veterans if NOT doing these tests. Take care,Brett
Thanks Eddie
That is a great marketing tool, showing the customer the cost savings from having the system cleaned and checked They would sign a service contract with you right then. Plus it would build there confidence and trust level in you so much.
Thanks for all you do
Thank you!!
I appreciate your comments!!!
Thanks Fritz!!
Great job, I love this stuff!
Hey Eddie don't let any company tell you not to use their tactics to promote your company, you got a nice clean flyer.Great videos man, keep up the great work
Eddie I really hope that homeowners do see these video's!!!!
Clean the equipment is half the battle and going from 36,000 BTU's to 18,000 BTU's will make the system cool unevenly and make your home feel in some case's cold & clammy and just plain uncomfortable when not properly cooled. But yes you'ed be surprised that people don't notice that and this spells trouble with your A/C and getting it professionally serviced is a must for proper efficiency! :) very good video!!! :D
and show enthusiasm, never complain about any job!!
I have seen guys that went from being a helper to service techs in less than a year, its all about your attitude.
Hey Eddie !!!
Great Job Brother !!!
Take it to the NEXT LEVEL Eddie !!!
Rock On !!!
Most techs are not performing these tests, hopefully after watching these videos they will see how easy it is and little time it takes to do the job right
THAT would go a long way in improving the public viewpoint towards hvac techs. Take care, Brett
I know the watts indicates higher motor current but I wish you would have measured the current on your compressor and fan before and after just like you did with all your data. Awesome experiment.
Thanks
Thanks and go get them :)
good tests
Yes it is and the sad part is that most techs just ignore it..
Awesome Test hope i well be on that level soon learning a lot of great test from you. Eddie i have a question tho now you said add 20 degrees on the high temp coil. Does that rule of thumb still work on high seer equipment?
i see how dirt is bad nice video i went to my grandmas house last weekend and it was warm in the house like 78 set to cool to 72 everyone was complaining bout the heat so i went and checked the filters they where bad man it was like a layer of dust like thick as paper i put 2 new filters in the returns 30 min and hour later everyone was companing that it was too cold the unit coold to 72 and shut off!!! and the cause was dirty filters..
Awesome
Thanks!!
You are right they don't see that.
Hi Eddie, I am in the process of hvac job hunting in Texas and wonder if you have any advice for a guy like me. I have over ten years working experience at an ice production company doing most of the troubleshooting, leak repairs on big ice makers, major repairs on ice merchandisers and repair and trouble shooting the big ice storage freezer. I want to get into a/c service and I am confident in my abilities but most contractors want 2 to 5 years exp for techs and 1-2 yrs for installers.
Man Eddie get a stopped coil and it's hard on the unit.
holy $#^t that Rheem in the thumbnail is DIRTY!
Are you connecting to the incoming power with your amp clamp? Or on the wire going to your compressor?
i think i would've simply pulled the condenser fan lead. obviously the wrap works well but a bit more trouble to bring the tarp and wrap it up. basically a manual low ambient kit ;-)
For this demonstration I only wanted to partially block the coil. One side was left uncovered to get some airflow.
Hi Eddie will an R22 system respond the same but just with lower pressure readings?
Thanks,
Kevin
This is the hiring requirements for most of the bigger companies. You will need to get hired on as a apprentice and go from there. Work on getting your Journey mans license first thing because your going to need it to be a lead installer or service tech.
When you get hired on you must respect everyone ranked above you because they will be the ones reporting back to the managers and if its always positive you will move up in ranks much faster. Always volunteer for the nasty jobs
Hey Eddie I have a question, I am an apprentice for a decent size company, I am currently working in the new construction side, but I eventually want to do service. I was told to become a service technician I would have to get my journeymans licence. I don't have a problem with getting my licence, but do you think if I get my licence and get a service tech job, that will throw me out there by myself. I have some service experience, but very little. I want to learn, so I'm asking how can I do this?
I think today its pretty common for a company to hire a service guy with very little to no experience because one its really hard to find a good service guy and when they do find one they are going to pay a premium to hire them.
I went from installer to service with no experience and when I look back at that time I wonder how I did it, that was about 20 years ago. That particular company still does the same thing today.
The one thing that you've got going for you which I didn't are these youtube videos and sites like Hvac-Talk.
Its a great career and I wish you all of the luck
Incoming power, you want to measure fan and compressor..
Is it 13 seer and below that you add 30 deg. to the outside air ?
I would go with:
10 seer + 30 degree
13 seer + 25 degree
16 seer + 20 degree
The warning just entices me, anyone that can read forums is a pro right?
jesus fuck! do these units not have HP switches?
that pressure is insane
I am lost, supply temp after, was 59' before 53' and calling it a dirty condensor? We never saw the dirty condensor, and those numbers should be reversed, most of those numbers mean nothing, watts, and stuff, manufactures supply literature, for all units, for indoor outdoor temps, but indoor is in wet bulb, stupid electronic gauges cant calculate that lol, you seem to know your stuff, but need to learn more
