I've been helping take care of my grandmother with dementia for the past couple years and holy shit - this seriously hit home. Thanks for posting this. Felt some things I think I've needed to feel for a bit.
I have a lot of memory troubles and Dory resonated with me a little, but when I saw it I was living a life with people and events I didnt want to remember anyways so it didnt bother me. I fled that situation and over time built up a life and found people that I do desperately want to remember. There are times when I dont know my own name and the faces of my partners are the faces of strangers. It breaks my heart when my mind recovers and I know it breaks their hearts too because of the expressions they wear when I cant remember them.. My biggest fear is that we will realize I dont recognize any of them and then it never comes back to me, I never recognize them again... I dont want to forget them. I think I need to watch Finding Nemo again
