As an American, it's always interesting to see how people from other countries sign certain things :)
I personally think ASL is easier for me, considering I have mild cerebral palsy, but I still think BSL and all other forms of sign language is really really interesting :) thank you for making these videos!
You are very welcome, glad you are enjoying them x
This is so wild to see! I know the the ABC in ASL, and it’s almost completely different than BSL!! Wow. Love your videos Jessica!
to the people in the comments saying it's fast for beginners (as a beginner myself) change the velocity to the slowest level and when you think you are getting the hang of it make it go faster and faster to challenge yourself.
My teacher played your sign language educational videos in our life skills class! I didn't know I'd discover your channel later at home & find you to be a huge inspiration, right now I just realized you're the same magical lady when I searched for your oldest videos :)
Seems hard that it's with both hands. What if you have to use your other hand for something? Swedish sign language the alphabet is with just one hand.
Annika American Sign Language is also with one hand. It’s so much easier for me than this, but maybe that’s because I’ve been using asl since I was kid and only just found out that there are so many different types of sign language now that I want to expand my vocabulary!
ASL’S alphabet is also one handed
I am looking into starting a BSL course so I figured I'd go on RUclips first for a taster, Your video's go at a pace I can keep up with and it's lovely and clear to understand. Thank you.
I've been wanted to learn BSL and Your videos are sooooo helpful and I already knew the alphabet and I feel super smart because I knew all of this 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love that the alphabet in BSL is the same as it is here in New Zealand. NZSL must be similar, which is something I didn’t know!
Interesting. I don't know much sign language (ASL) but I do know the alphabet and #1-10. I find it interesting that most of the letters are the same... BSL just uses both hands rather than the single. I LOVE the sign for W in BSL... I'm always having such difficulties keeping my fingers in position for the ASL version.
Just subscribed yesterday, I believe, so, yes, I know this video has been up a while. Still lovely though :)
I had no idea that the bsl alphabet was way different than the asl alphabet
Wow SO different from ASL…I thought it’d be more similar. Very interesting!
This is the same alphabet as used in auslan(Australian Sign Language), I have noticed many similarities between BSL and auslan
I’ve recently decided that it would be a good opportunity to learn BSL so that in case anyone ever needed help, I would at least be there to help!
wait, I'm hearing but I use ASL and PSE so the concept of a two handed alphabet is hard to grasp. Do y'all fingerspell very often? I can't imagine it being a quick route to a word that you don't know. I have to fingerspell a lot even after quite a few years. Is there another way to work around not knowing a word that a beginner would use in BSL? Or do you just take the time required to fingerspell? (would it be called handspelling rather than fingerspelling?)
Hi! I'm not sure a two handed alphabet would take longer than a one handed one? And yes we finger spell as much as people who use ASL!
Bsl fingerspelling can be done with one hand as well; you remove the non-dominant hand.
The f, m and n aren't clear :( cant see clearly what fingers you are using
ASL is much easier :d as much as I noticed so far.
Is it just me or is ASL alphabet more intuitive? 😂😂 maybe it’s just a familiarity thing
ahh they all seem so similar
Ahhh was hoping for ASL
going to fast for me
Should I learn BSL or PSE? Which one would be more understandable?
lol none of these are like the asl way
