y'all, the Pat McGrath Sunlit Seduction palette was announced while we were editing this so it didn't make it into the video, but I'll give you my hot take right here: it LITERALLY, quite literally, looks like a bot made a mashup of all of the previous Pat McGrath palettes. Like, I WOULD believe that this is some sort of April Fool's joke or meme. I DON'T KNOW WHETHER TO LAUGH OR CRY rstyle.me/+JoTdHqFcNeJjDeJ8p_Ry_A EDITED TO ADD: Joe literally FOUND those images from the JCrew catalogue somewhere on the internet because he is a true icon, later he was like "were those the right pictures??" and I was like "let's make out." But it turns out that my timeline was way off, that catalogue was from 2010!!!
During lockdown time I developed a rabid shopping addiction buying so much- as if I’m a makeup artist or a content creator. I’m a kindergarten teacher with really expensive makeup. 😊 Should you wonder if you really help others- you do. Thank you for helping me to think first and shop in my own store… really, embarrassingly, I could open one. I love your thoughtful and thought provoking, videos! ❤
I'm the same - but I don't even have a job at all and rarely leave the house as a chronically ill full time Mother. At this point it feels like I'm more of a curator in a Museum accumulating a collection. I have the energy to wear makeup maybe once every couple of months 😬 But I can't help it. Thinking about makeup and buying makeup gives me a dopamine hit. I'm endlessly optimistic my life and entire personality might change over night and I'll suddenly be the kind of woman who wakes up and does a full face of makeup, and puts on a nice outfit, for the day.
re: the fenty lipstick, we are clearly collectively in a juicy pink barbie haze and while it's totally not my aesthetic, I'm loving the campy nostalgia of this moment
I feel like Joe has outdone himself, but also I loved having all the images to see exactly what you're talking about. I especially loved the split screens to compare two shades. I actually think this is the best, most useful editing I've seen in makeup videos. Ever. Anyhow, I want to thank him for understanding the assignment so well and doing such a fantastic job, even though he is entirely indifferent to makeup content. I mean, I wouldn't click into the video if I weren't interested in watching YOU and listening to what you have to say. I've been doing that for years now. But I think the editing really gets it to the next level.
I die every time you say “makeup mind palace” I feel so seen but I simultaneously know that if I say it to one of my friends/family they’ll think I’m losing it 😂😂
I always marvel at your clever and poetic way with words. You are a gem and I just thought you should know. I also want to thank you for your perspectives on compulsive shopping. I’ve personally gained valuable insights and have truly benefited from what you do. Thank you. ❤️
i have been watching you for YEARS and have seen you mention the Vinylic Lip 100000000 times at least. i always thought it was called "Vanilla Glip" and glossier just was being quirky like that.
i’d LOVE to see a vid on your favourite beauty campaigns/imagery, and maybe why they’re so successful? i just loved your explanation behind why you were so struck by chanel’s campaigns, and it’d be cool to hear more☺️
I think doing foundation sets like a perfume discovery set with a 'coupon' situation is a wonderful idea. If nothing works, no harm done, no massive amount of money spent, and you get to find out if the formula is what you need. And if one of them works you don't feel like its too much of an investment in a bottle since you've already partially spent the money on the set. Note: I think this is only good for a company you can't get your hands on physically in store, BUT I do think luxury brands should start doing this as well. I feel like they would see their foundation sales skyrocket because people who couldn't afford or justify a bottle before, have less of a barrier now with a 'discovery set'.
I agree. I'm a fan of the Kosas trial set (though haven't purchased one yet). I've been interested in Basma & was able to purchase 3 sample shades for $10. The sizes are pretty generous and I'm reluctant to try a full size foundation because I know I won't return it (I figure out a way to use them because I hate the waste, even if it turns into hate panning). I don't mind paying for a useful sample & I'm glad brands are offering them for people for whom swatching in store isn't enough.
Nars Schiap was my ride or die until they stopped being cruelty free. I've never found a good dupe but now my eyes are peeled to compare these in person... I agree, with a simple makeup look it just rocks so hard. I was obsessed for so long but I think the formula was the best lipstick I've ever used so hard to get that again I think. Stunning colour.
The ND Mini Starlette palette is all recycled shades from the Star and Lila palettes, and it’s warmer than it looks! I have a short swatching the shades and also wore the shades in my FabFitFun video. 😉
I did some research for those of you wondering about the Mini Starlette palette: the shade Hannah talked about which she suspected could resemble Cava or Sparks in formula is literally just a shade taken from the Star palette. Its called galaxia and it's a straight up "loose" glitter in a pan.. So if you are looking for that wetlook formula, that's unfortunately not it:(
When I looked at the isamaya palette I just saw care bear colors. The top right-hand one is tenderheart, the green is goodluck bear, the center blue is bed time bear, the far right is grumpy bear, there was definitely a baby pink bear whose name I've forgotten. Maybe it's just because my sister had a care bear that lasted several years but it's just a few grungy browns and a troupe of care bears.
Galaxia in the new ND Starlette mini palette is like Sparks and Cava. It's a repeat shade for Natasha Denona; it was initially in the Star palette and is the first sparkly shade in the Mini Retro palette. I got the Mini Retro palette for Christmas a few years ago, and Galaxia rocked my world. I've used it up in that palette, and I'm glad that it's in this new mini palette so I can have more Galaxia without having repeats of the other shades in the Mini Retro since I have yet to use all of them up. All my love for this shade aside, I'm not sure you'll like it all that much. It's the peachy pink equivalent to Cava or Sparks. It's similar to the middle shade in the Kaja Bento Box in Rosewater; but that shade is a little more pink and it lacks the subtle blue sparkle Galaxia has. It is also similar to UD Space Cowboy, but it's not a duochrome, and much less red, but a sheer wash of Space Cowboy achieves a similar look. One other thing to note is that Starlette from ND only contains repeat shades from their older palettes, Nude Mauve and Per Se (the first and last shades) are both from the Lila Palette and Galaxia, Vega, and Rhea are all from the Star palette.
a new makeup hot takes!!! exactly the snappy content i need to drag me through this lackluster friday into the bliss of the weekend. (also i love this very pared-back, elegant face/hair/earring look)
I’d like to add that I got the lightest Haus labs trial set, and the shades are way more desaturated when blended and dried than when I swatched them in store. 30 ended up being a perfect match for me. It’s described as both “cool” and “yellow” - which translates to yellow with blue, good for my olive skin.
I love the spirit of the Haus Labs discovery kit, I just wish one could choose colors... I do love the foundation itself, so I'm already on board. But the shade combos are done by gradient not undertones?... Odd
@@lilnitemakeupmaybe, but unfortunately that seems to be the exact issue with a lot of brands. I have only ever really heard from people thinking they need a much lighter/darker shade, but they actually just need a different undertone, idk if I've ever heard it the other way around except for when the brand isn't color inclusive enough on the far ends of the skintone spectrum.
Once again I must wonder why ND doesn't sell eyeshadow singles! That greyish-purple shade in the Mini Starlette Palette speaks to me on a spiritual level. (I'm a little bit of a magpie for greyish-purple, particularly in eyeshadow.)
Maybe check out the sigma electric pink palette. There is a gorgeous taupe shimmer and a purple pink shimmer that is divine. The 2 layered sound just up your alley.
They used to...When the 1st palettes were released, EVERY color was available as a single. That all changed after the release of the Sunset palette. Beautylish still has a selection available on their site, which makes me wonder if they're just trying to get rid of their old stock, or if they have a contract to sell them exclusively? Beautylish was one of the 1st retailers to sell ND.
There's something about your subtle eye look in this video that is absolutely mesmerizing. Your eyes look enormous and there's just something about that color (colors?) that I couldn't take my eyes off of. Any chance you remember what you wore? Love the lips and cheeks too.
I audibly gasped when I saw that such a popular mainstream brand (Patrick Ta) did SUCH a polarizing, editorial look to showcase those new blushes. Now THIS is how trends get started.
Any plans to review Lisa Eldridge’s Velveteen liquid lipsticks? I have her velvets and lucent formula and would be interested in ordering dragon if it really is comfortable. But… have never been into liquid lipsticks because they are so drying. Would be interested in your review on how it compares to her other formulas because I know you will be honest.
Thank you to Joe for finding the J Crew catalog page with the mixed murky green clothes paired with statement hot pink lips. I've been obsessed ever since and dug out a shockingly hot pink lippie I could never quite bring myself to declutter, and now I've finally figured out how to wear it and I am thrilled. Hannah thank you again for all the inspiration!
Ooh thanks for the bright pink lip nostalgia journey; I went through a similar phase around that time.. Wore YSL Rouge Volupte in Provocative Pink on my first trip to Paris and gurl, was I feeling myself!! With Barbiecore everywhere now it feels like the right time to bring it back. Always love your vids!
I watch your videos regularly and seldom comment. I want you to know I love how concise and informative you are. You're a pleasure to watch and listen to.
Galaxia in the Natasha Denona mini is definitely one of those super sheer, wetlook shadows. It was the same shadow that was in the mini retro palette, and I panned that shadow, while hardly using the rest of the mini. I think it’s my favorite shadow of all time. It doesn’t show up in photography, but there’s almost a slight twinkle of blue to it when the light catches it.
First off, I love your makeup reviews! You are the first and only beauty youtuber who I actually like haha! I love how you balance your makeup interest & knowledge with your realistic, sustainable perspective. I’d be really interested in a “clean beauty brand skincare/makeup” review video from you!!
An absolute poetic collection of hot takes. You have quickly become my favorite RUclipsr. And i too, am viscerally turned off by the pallet lol😅What a gift you are to listen to and view.
I've been convinced that early 2010s hot pink lipstick would be back soon, despite having recently seen it described as "cheugy". Fenty always seems to easily convince the masses that what it does is the current cool thing, so I'm eager to see if this is the sign.
Those chanel brush kit and mirrors already exist in that color in their nail-polish range. So yes the colors are great . I really love the objects, agree it's so cute. I don't need them but they look delicious
new make up 🩷 hot takes 🩷 if it’s even vaguely on the table i’d love if you did a deep dive on rare beauty! especially curious your thoughts on the lip oils (though they seem actually more like stains) & the new shadow sticks and how they compare to the one you tried from about face 💜
Oooh, you seem to be doing something different on your eyes here - loving it! So soft yet effective, feel free to share products please ^^ Did you find the soft-brown mascara of your dreams? Currently on the lookout for one myself, would love some recommendations ✨
15:03 I love how impressed you are by Valentino's marketing of that lipstick lol. Also, your husband's editing at 25:50 is such a treat. I always love the visuals of your videos.
The new Natasha Denona mini palette is the perfect shades and tone for me. I think it lacks diversity in tone, but I think all colors would work all over my lids in an everyday-way. I'll think about it for a little bit though because I'm pretty sure my naked3 palette dupes all of them. At least functionally
Hannah, you are looking extremely angelic, beautiful, heavenly and all the words. I can’t put a finger on it but your aura is radiating peace love and beauty today. I am so here for this look.
I love the Sephora sets. It’s like a makeup holiday stocking, and that just GETS me. 😊 But your point is a good one. My current rule is that I can’t buy one unless there is a full size of something that I would want on its own, and is worth a sizable chunk of the cost. I actually applied for a Sephora corporate job today. For a makeup lover like me, this would really be something. We shall see.
Love when you do these kind of videos! Speaking of Chanel when is the new shade of the cream bronzer coming out? Do you know? Please post a link to it if you find it - I am urging to buy it like you mentioned in your hot take video referencing it 🤭💕
Hannah you and your words - send condolence cards as I have died laughing! "Hate is a strong word...I viscerally am repulsed by..." I REALLY needed this today - thank you so much.
The formula is soooo different in the Isamaya palette but if you don’t like the colour story fair enough. Please try and swatch it if you can just for the experience. Genuinely think it’s the best palette I’ve ever used
Nars Schiap and a navy blue winged liner used to be my signature look a solid decade ago. Nowadays my lids won't take the liner anymore, but I still own a tube of Schiap!
That hot pink is in honour of Schiaparelli. She was the designer who brought us the shoe hat and shocking pink. It is always going to be a colour we are drawn to.
Chuckling away at your assessment of the Isamaya palette 😂 Going to order it for myself, for separate reasons, but love how you summed up why you don't care much for it 😄
I absolutely love Hannah’s eyeshadow today! If anyone knows or can guess what it is I’d be so grateful. It seems like the perfect ‘slightly mauve, slightly lavender, but mostly grey’.
Made By Mitchell just released a cream palette and they say it's the "perfect grungy colour story" which I feel is a challenge to you personally. Please give us hot takes on it or a review!
Love your take on new releases. I need to learn to show restraint when new shiny, beautiful things come out. Any recommendations on the lip in the Patrick Ta blush image? I don’t want the blush but I need that lipstick!!!
I still have my Schiap lippie. It was the lippie I bought for myself as a treat for getting out of debt and at the time it was the most expensive product I had ever bought at $14. Oh, memories...
Galaxia was in the Star palette and then in the Retro mini? I have the OG and the newer formula of it, and it is still not on par with Sparks or Cava, sadly.
I lucked up and picked a shade that is very close. I have a neutral cool tone so it's a little hard to find things but Haus is pretty good with the tone but I would like to try other shades.
Oh! I have the Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick (same formula as Gone Griege) in Faint for Fuschia that's a dupe at least for the color of that Fenty lipstick. Maybe a good choice for interesting lippies at the drugstore?
Also would be v into seeing Hannah do that, but if you haven’t already watched if, there’s another RUclipsr who has a video of exactly that. She’s Australian; I think her name is Martina?

We've got artificial intelligence making art and writing novels now. AI eyeshadow palettes are sure to follow. 🫣
I just watched Angelica Nyqvist's new makeup releases and she was wondering the same😂 April Fool's year round now🤣
LMAO “let’s make out” that’s when you know your person did an outstanding job 😂😂
That’s true romance!
I was waiting for your reaction to this and the new Chantecaille! lol

Same girl!
The “new” hot pink with a dash of purple in it that is all the rage now is STRAIGHT out of the 80s - I friggin owned it then :p
re: the fenty lipstick, we are clearly collectively in a juicy pink barbie haze and while it's totally not my aesthetic, I'm loving the campy nostalgia of this moment
I thought the same thing! I was like “That is CLEARLY a Barbie pink lip color timely released around the same time of the Barbie movie!”
Absolutely. I wore lilac eyeshadow yesterday and loved every second.

I think doing foundation sets like a perfume discovery set with a 'coupon' situation is a wonderful idea. And if one of them works you don't feel like its too much of an investment in a bottle since you've already partially spent the money on the set.

I feel like they would see their foundation sales skyrocket because people who couldn't afford or justify a bottle before, have less of a barrier now with a 'discovery set'.
Agreed, but I really wish they had done it more like a rebate coupon instead of "buy a FB or else we'll charge your card again" like it sounds like 😬😬

15:03 I love how impressed you are by Valentino's marketing of that lipstick lol. Also, your husband's editing at 25:50 is such a treat. I always love the visuals of your videos.
The mini ND palette made me drool 🤤
Valentino had a hit this spring with their powder blushes...
Love when you do these kind of videos! Speaking of Chanel when is the new shade of the cream bronzer coming out? Do you know? Please post a link to it if you find it - I am urging to buy it like you mentioned in your hot take video referencing it 🤭💕
I’d love to see you try the Chanel eye thingies! They look very sooty, which would be an HLP throwback ❤
I like that ND 5 pan eyeshadow palette, I have very fair skin & this does look desaturated
I still have my Schiap too!
Mmm... I thought I was hearing "vanilla flip" instead of vinylic lip, and now I'm craving a vanilla scented lip oil.
Definitely needed this after the week I’ve had. #calming
OMG! I NEVER was interested by Chanel but I agree with you that the marketing on this release is AMAZING!! ❤
I also want to see you review the new Isamaya collection 😅
Chuckling away at your assessment of the Isamaya palette 😂 Going to order it for myself, for separate reasons, but love how you summed up why you don't care much for it 😄
I absolutely love Hannah’s eyeshadow today! If anyone knows or can guess what it is I’d be so grateful. It seems like the perfect ‘slightly mauve, slightly lavender, but mostly grey’.
Any thoughts on the Lisa Eldridge matt lipglosses? Also, interested to know if you've ever tried Trinny London?
you really helped me change my habits when it comes to buying stuff, thank you
I was actually watching the green color corrector video and was so excited that there was a brand new hot takes video to watch when I was done. ♥️
Every time I see you upload a new makeup hot takes my day gets so much better! So excited for this one!
I’m very curious if you plan to try the new Lisa Eldridge lip formula…she released it in Velvet Dragon! 😍
Yes! I'd be interested to hear Hannah's take on it, and how it compares with the Velvet version of the same colour
I wish that most brands would move to a sample system, since Sephora isn't giving away samples anymore where I live!
“Makeup Mind Palace.” I love this.
Please review the Chanel makeup release! It would be so interesting to hear if you thought it lives up to the hype and is worth the price
curious of what you are thinking of the Lisa Eldridge new Liquid lips :)
I lucked up and picked a shade that is very close. I have a neutral cool tone so it's a little hard to find things but Haus is pretty good with the tone but I would like to try other shades.
Hi Hannah!! Yayy I love new makeup hot takes!! Love you so much ❤❤
I came to hear your opinions on the new PMG Mothership palette
Oh! I have the Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick (same formula as Gone Griege) in Faint for Fuschia that's a dupe at least for the color of that Fenty lipstick. Maybe a good choice for interesting lippies at the drugstore?
Hannah I think you used to own the ND Star palette? All of the shades in this new mini are from either the Star palette or the Lila palette.
I would love to see the Isamaya 2.0 palette compared to the Pat McGrath special shades
Also would be v into seeing Hannah do that, but if you haven’t already watched if, there’s another RUclipsr who has a video of exactly that. She’s Australian; I think her name is Martina?
Valentino makeup is relatively new. They came out with a small line of like three products a year ago or so. I’m interested in this lip product.
YOU DID THE SONG!!! 😊😁😀
Do I do a little dance singing the song EVERY TIME I see the thumbnail in my feed? ABSOLUTELY! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤
