For anyone concerned about the hamster, biologists have found that wild small rodents, and hamsters, will go out of their way to run on wheels placed in the wild. So, free choice powered machine for the win!

@@squirrelsimon2540 WIRED magazine did an article about it. Specifically neurophysiologists in the Netherlands set up wheels, cameras, and a small amount of food near the wheels. The results squeak for themselves.
Could they help generate electricity?
@@nowacurmudgeon Well i suppose so, but a Hamster running on a wheel at full speed would still generate very little electricity, not to mention im sure the added equipment to convert that rotational force to electricity would make it harder for the hamster to push the wheel. Also it would of course be highly unethical to force a bunch of hamsters to run on wheels to generate electricity.

Don’t forget to tension your belts and weigh down or bolt down your mechanisms for optimal efficiency, also grease gears to reduce friction. For most people I think a motor would be more efficient than a hamster wheel

I wonder how to calculate hamster power in horsepower. Is there any formula?
When I saw "1 HP Engine" I though "You damaged it so much that it lost 99 heal points?". But only in the end I understood that "1 HP" means "One Hamster Power"

They need a wheel to stay healthy mentally and physically. They will run almost 2 marathons a night on the wheel and if they don’t, they will have health issues. You are reducing the life span of your hamster from 2-3 years to 1-2 years. You might need to buy or make a wheel.
