An interesting discussion out of which the various conclusions seemed to be mostly in harmony with my own observations about international law, its feebleness of enforcement mechanisms and the snail’s pace at which it works, not to mention the way in which the powers that be use its language to manipulate the question of obligatory application. In conclusion, I have to say that the right to self defense belongs to every individual and is not a one way street. Moreover, it’s confined by its own definition of which proportionality is a fundamental part. What’s happening in Gaza has gone far beyond what any sane individual would consider to be proportional. As far beyond proportional as the moon and stars are far from the earth.
Should’ve had more lawyers on because I truly wanted to know what the reasons are that Israel can use these laws in a backward way. For example, I heard an example recently of how the specific int’l law which deals with human shields actually works differently than what Israel claims that it does. A human shield, is supposed to be the very thing which bars a soldier from shooting at or otherwise attacking the militant target. Not the other way around. But Israel claims that the human shield doesn’t bar them from attacking the enemy combatant because it’s the combatant’s fault for using the human shield in the first place. Just think of what happens here in the US when a school shooter enters a school full of kids & takes one of them hostage. Does the police then bomb the whole school or even shoot the bad guy in a way that kills the child too? Of course not. They either negotiate with the bad guy or in very specific instances find a way to shoot him without the child getting hurt. But that’s not even a risk that they usually take or that you’ll hear about very often. The shooter usually ends up either cooperating, or committing suicide, or suicide by cop. Yet Israel just kills them both or bombs the entire building, without applying the laws of proportionality &/or distinction. So yeah, I would’ve truly preferred it if you’d had on some actual lawyers or experts in order to deal with the laws specifically.

First of all, the Internation laws were made when much of this world was under colonists' power. Since then, there haven't been any significant amendments. Therefore, these laws are out dated and difficult to apply. Secondly, ICJ has no fangs to force these laws. It has to rely on powerful nations to help in applying. Now, if these nations refuse to help apply like the US , UK, and other countries, because these countries are so racists that it will only apply these laws if a white nations are victims. Isrealis are from Europe and therefore treated as whites.

For the West, the overriding principle is the Right of the Jewish People to self-determination to be expressed in the most maximal manner possible... absolute sovereignty, total freedom of action. The argument is that supposedly, everyone wants to kill the Jews, if the Jewish State is forced to accommodate others in any way, the Jew-killing desires of the rest of the world will corner them for Holocaust 2. Therefore, the Jewish state requires total freedom of action. Total freedom of action means that it is illegal to defend yourself against them since that is an attempt to limit their freedom of action. International law also threatens to limit the freedom of action of the Jewish state, thus, this must be made inoperative, it must yield before the overriding prinicple.

Every political entity should respect international law. The Palestinian people have tried everything to make their case and be heard. No government seems to recognize them. This does not give Israel a licence to thumb their nose at international law.
First of all, Hamas casualty figures have been debunked by a top Wharton statistician

Second, the Gaza war has the lowest combatant-to-civilian casualty rate in modern urban warfare, (even while the population is being used as human shields by its government) and the world's top military experts confirm that Israel's efforts to minimize civilian deaths is unprecedented. The UN is making accusations up out of thin air - there is no evidence of any deliberate killing of civilians in Gaza - except by Hamas. The US/Coalition forces killed many more civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan than Israel is doing now. Why wasn't the US brought to the ICJ? Why wasn't the media awash in stories pushing this false narrative?

Food was great, the girls were stunning and there was a natural easiness about being there. My mom bought a bunch of jewellery. My dad played cards with new friends at the hotel pool. I wanted to live there. A few short years later I saw pictures of the hotel we stayed at. It was completely destroyed by war. That was Arafat's legacy. He sowed death and destruction everywhere he set up shop. He made the "Palestinians" the most dreaded guests in the Arab world. He died a billionaire. His people still honour his memory. Go figure. Watch Lebanon. 70 years ago Lebanon was one of the richest country in the world. It was called "Switzerland of the Middle East". About 70% of the population was Christians. Then many Palestinians and other Arabs come to Lebanon. Now Lebanon is ruined. Hezbollah takes control over Lebanon. The Christians of Lebanon became refugees. Believe me UK, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden and other countries will go the same way. Another reason that Egypt won't allow Palestinian refugees into the Sinai Peninsula is because Hamas is the Palestinian offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood. The Egyptian military had to pull them from power following the Arab Spring, the Muslim Brotherhood was banned in Egypt and declared a terrorist group. Since this happened Egypt believes that allowing any refugees into Egypt, even in the sparsely populated Sinai Peninsula would allow Hamas fighters to sneak into Egypt and gain roots to re-establish themselves in Egypt once again. Lebanon used to be called the Paris of the Middle East. Then the Palestine terrorists came in and ruined it. As the video states Lebanon has yet to recover. Let's also talk about Iran, a non-Arab country. Palestinians supported and participated in the devastating revolution. The Islamic regime, which has been occupying Iran since 1979, with the help and support of Palestinians, has caused nothing but over 42 years of utter misery and suffering for Iranians. Palestinians also praised and supported Saddam, who invaded Iran and caused a war that took nearly a decade resulting in millions of deaths. in conclusion, they never minded their own business, created troubles all around the region, and then played the same old trick, of crying victim. got it! In short, they know they're trouble, so they keep them out, but then happily field them to portray Israel as the evil one. Depending on the situation. There's also the factor that Egypt very much understands that this is no longer a case of Palestinian independence, but rather Iran funding a puppet state in the Levant. If Egypt were to take in Palestinians by the droves, it would give Iran a crowbar to use against Egyptian policy. So this is why no one’s helping Palestine. I remember how the Palestinians betrayed their hosts in Lebanon some years before they betrayed Kuwait.

Just like any laws, they can be broken. Judgement may come one day, but laws do not prevents crimes from being committed. Israel is aware of this and seems 100% willing to bend and break them in order to achieve their goal. So unless a third party wants to step in to enforce anything, it will continue unabated at Israel's discretion.
