    ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?
Also thank you for all your support. It means a lot.
Subscribe to Rebecca Vocal Athlete to get inspired by new videos!
    Have a great day!!
    Rebecca

I totally agree about Operation MINDCRIME.
Back when it first came out I wasn't much of a Queensryche fan as they were too...I don't know, 'cheesy' for my thrash and hardcore punk loving self. Operation MINDCRIME was one of those albums that transcended those narrow tastes of mine with how excellent it was. It definitely should be experienced in it's entirety the first time.

Both have great chemistry in this song and had literally given me shivers the first time I heard it. So much that I had to rewind the tape at least 15 to 20 times. The song is about lucid dreaming...the ability to recognize that you are dreaming without waking, which then allows you to control your dream. In the song, he’s telling a (his perhaps?) child that he doesn’t need to fear his nightmares, and that behind his fears lies an amazing realm of magic and possibility. “Even in your dreams, I can love you, protect you, and care for you. Let me show you how...” From my own experience, I can assure you that lucid dreaming is real. Geoff's voice was really at it's peak during the Empire era of QR. I think this song was recorded in Vancouver, which at the time, was used by a LOT of bands. Aerosmith, Motley and Bon Jovi used the same studio. The mixing console and mic pre amps were absolutely amazing. The Vancouver studio was on par with Sound City and the Sunset Sound. Also, the production and engineering was also top notch. What you have here are several elements all coming together. They caught lightening in a bottle.

Go watch the African American channels REACTIONS to this track, The DJ from the Warriors Movie (female) who did a reaction to this vid, they just stare in awe and LISTEN , cry , trying to wrap their head around what they saw in the video and on vocals as ALL of them had the lyrics in front of them and just kept quiet and didn’t bump them gums the entire vid . "Someone you love
    leaving the game (of life)."
Guitarist Chris DeGarmo wrote this song and plays the acoustic guitar at the beginning of the video, then Michael Wilton plays the acoustic guitar while Chris plays that heart wrenching solo on the double neck guitar, and then Chris winds up back on acoustic guitar at the end.
The late great conductor/arranger Michael Kamen was responsible for the beautiful orchestration here as well.

After another 6 years of really bad albums and some Tate Family skulduggery, the band chucked him out. His former son-in-law is now a guitarist and the new singer, Todd LaTorre, can sing all the things Tate no longer can. Queensryche’s last three Geoff-Tate-less albums are absolutely fantastic!

It is assumed to be based on the subject of lucid dreaming. During the middle eight, a distorted voice even explains a method for this: "Visualize your dream. Record it in the present tense. Put it into a permanent form. If you persist in your efforts, you can achieve dream control." [4]
The song was recorded with sweeping orchestrations. Often the orchestra is not relegated to the background but instead is very prominent such as during the second half of the instrumental section (timestamp 3:16 - 3:51).
At the end of the song (5:26), a cello or double bass plays the theme from the traditional Brahms' Lullaby - the typical English translation words being "Lullaby, and good night, go to sleep little baby".

I’ve actually done this. Of right before you go to bed and close your eyes, try to look down and visualize looking at your hands, any jewelry and wristbands you should pay close attention to their configuration. One time I thought I had my rings on and in the dream all i had was black rings over where my rings would have been but before I really wasn’t wearing any to bed and only thought it did they appeared “blacked out” I woke up and didn’t have them on after all. My brain made them up, and also mine always start off on a path with a brick wall with vines and draping leaves cascading for what seams like forever into the distance. Point is I can remember the dream when I wake up and if I stay lucid can go right back in where it left off after I’d awoken.

Ahhh….in my family, I'm the one who put my nephews and nieces down for the night because I was the only one who could get them to sleep. My secret was singing this song to them ;)
A few useless facts about Geoff and this song:
    - When it first came out, people would call radio stations asking to hear the new Pink Floyd song, not knowing it (who) was Queensryche
    - Geoff, I'm sure someone has mentioned to you here at some point, was classically trained. Unfortunately, because he was (is?) a smoker, he's since lost much of that vocal magic
    - This video was nominated for 5 MTV VMA's in 1991. They lost 4 out of the 5 awards, but ironically the one award they DID win was the Viewer's Choice Award for Best Video
    - That night, they performed Silent Lucidity live for the first time with the actual orchestra who recorded the studio version. You can find the performance here on RUclips
    - Michael Kamen, who would go on to lead the National Philharmonic, conducted the orchestration for the album version of the song
    - The final cello notes that close out the song are actually taken from Brahms 'Lullaby'
    - Queensryche performed on MTV's Unplugged in 1992, and it was one of their best performances ever. They did 'Silent Lucidity' among others, but my favorite performance of the night was the stripped down acoustic version of 'The Killing Words.' If you ever want to hear a great example of Geoff's vocal range live, I HIGHLY recommend you look up this performance. They did 6 songs total, 5 making the final edit. The one that got cut was an interesting version of 'Scarborough Faire'
LOVE your vids! Keep it up :)
