In this video, you will learn about the Identity Data of Materials in Revit. This data is essentially all text. This data applied to the materials can all the utilized and put into a finish schedule. Adding custom material parameters is also covered because you might want to add your own fields to add additional data to a material.
Please leave comments and questions below and I will get back to you!

great video, I am so behind lol, you have been busy as usual! I had never used the classes in the material before, could be useful for filtering or for sorting in schedules. I wish you didn't have to press a tiny button on the bottom left to see the material parameters, it should have just been built into the identity tab.
One mistake I learned for anyone who read this, is to not use the Mark of objects for the purpose of only filtering. I made the mistake of using the MARK for a bunch of items I wanted to hide in certain view templates. Revit does not like duplicate marks, of anything, so in the future, I will just use the COMMENTS field or just make a custom field.
Yes you’re right in every way! Classes are nice for organizing and definitely only use the mark value for material you want to populate on a finish schedule.
Hi there, I just wanted to thank you for all of your videos. Watched a lot of them, but usually never comment on YT. However, I just want to tell you how much I appreciate your content. It helps me a lot.
This makes me happy to hear, I am glad you found them helpful! Obi-Wan is by far my favorite Jedi!!! :D
Thank you, I'm working on a Revit template and I was looking on how to create custom parameters for materials when I recieved the notification of this vid. Great content.

You're welcome!
Really Nice Video... I appreciate
Many many thanks!
Do you have a video that shows the creation of the finish schedule. I seem to be missing a step. When I go to create the schedule I cannot specify a material:xxx like you have in your drop down box.
I do in fact, I would check it out and get back to me if you have more questions.

Hi there, I’ve create a material takeoff schedule that I want to save for other projects in future. I’ve created a new parameter in the material browser to save a specific value for each of the materials. My new parameter is called CO2 value, and I want for example to save a specific value for concrete, to use in other projects, but the problem is that the value disappears when I open a new project. Can you help me?
Thanks for good video. I like your teaching style - deep in detail. I appreciate your effort for share your knowledge. Subscribe already.
