  • This plant has become very popular in the last year. It has beautiful leaves with a velvet texture. It grows best in intermediate light, likes to be fertilized often and water when the top of the soil begins to dry. Happy growing.💜

    Plant newbie here, can you explain again the feeding part? You said something about 20/20/20 epsom salt and something else? I have no idea what that means, ha! I just got one today and want to make sure it does well!
    Thanks :)

    I bought one or these today. Thank you for your video. I understand the 20-20-20 fertilizer that you give her every other watering. I'm not familiar with giving a plant epsom salt or CalMag. Would you please share how much of these you give? I've got ep. salt on hand - - but I'll need to buy the CalMag, but it would be great for more information. Thank you so much!

      Hi Debbie! I use a teaspoon of salt per gallon and a tablespoon of cal mag per gallon. They are heavy feeders and will love it. 💜

      Would all of the above work well for 2 others I have - African Mask [alocasia amazonica] and Elephant Ear [colocasia illustris - I just can't make her happy]
      Thanks again Danni!

    Hi! That's such Gorgeous leaves! I bought one recently because it was so beautiful and i think it's going okay but i noticed that the tips are kinda brown/dry, i read it's because it might need water or feed it so was wondering if that's true? Also because my baby has 3 leaves and just got a fresh new one some days ago but none of the others are dying out so far. So i was wondering if it needs some food?

    Hello. You said you use a 20-20-20 mix for fertilizer with epson salt. What is the other 40% of? Or maybe I’m confused on the fertilizer contents. Thank you for you time.

    • @dannisorchidjourney
      @dannisorchidjourney  3 года назад +3

      The 20-20-20 is fertilizer I use plus I add Epsom Salt and I add CalMag also. 20-20-20 means it’s equal parts Nitrogen, Potassium and Phosphorus. It’s a balanced fertilizer for all stages of growth. I hope that helps answer your question! Happy growing 💜

    What about the humidity on this one? Can I grow it successfully if I can't provide high humidity?

    • @dannisorchidjourney
      @dannisorchidjourney  3 года назад

      My humidity in the greenhouse is pretty low for a greenhouse. It stays around 50 percent humidity. I think the plant will live in low humidity but not thrive unfortunately.

    whats the name of the plant next to the alocasia? (to the right with the intricate redish leafs)

    • @dannisorchidjourney
      @dannisorchidjourney  3 года назад

      It’s a NO ID Episcia. Some call them flaming violets. They are very cool plants. They like to stay warm and be watered with luke warm water. 🥰

    I have an Alocacia polly. Is it the same care? My 1st one died so...I'm trying again. Lower leaves are already beginning to turn brown🤔☹️ I cleaned all the leaves with damp cloth when I got her and she's in quarantine. Didn't see any pests🤔If this one dies...I quit☹️

    • @dannisorchidjourney
      @dannisorchidjourney  3 года назад

      It’s the same care but my Polly I give full shade to it. But I will have to say it’s more temperamental for me than the rarest of mine. It’s gone a little dormant right now. Not pushing any new leaves up since November and just sitting at a stand still right now. Don’t give up!!! 💜🥰💜🥰 I know you can do it. Keep me updated about it!
