    I've made this recipe several times, and my family loves it. We are Greek by the way, lol. However, I've made a few changes and I think improvements. I add zucchini, red pepper flakes (just a few) and I skip adding the sugar and vinegar. Delicious, Opa!!!

    Made this dish tonight and even found some terra creta Greek olive oil to use with it. You are so right! It is delicious! Had to use Publix feta though because it was on sale.

    One of the best pastas period. I don't eat sugar but I like to put onions instead for the sweetness and a considerable amount of chili flakes or fresh chili. Red bell pepper, tomato sauce, butter and a little heavy cream work too but then it's a different dish ofc.

      What she's saying about "Greeks always put sugar on sauces" is NOT true!
      Good quality greek cooking with organic produce doesn't need sugar!

    • @someonesomewhere6633
      @someonesomewhere6633 9 лет назад

      ***** My mother doesn't use sugar, neither did my grandmother (Greek) and by organic in Greece I meant how MOST of the older Greeks in villages have their OWN produce, which happens to be organic because they don't use any pesticides on their own gardens, like my grandfather. Besides, organic farming IS CLOSER to the original farming of the "older Greeks" than "modern" agriculture.

    • @someonesomewhere6633
      @someonesomewhere6633 9 лет назад

      ***** Exactly!!! Being Greek doesn't mean we all do the same thing, and adding sugar to sauces is DEFINITELY NOT a tradition in Greece. SOME do it. SOME do not. It's NOT a Greek tradition, that's why I argued that what she said ("Greeks always put sugar in sauces") is NOT true for every Greek. It's a generalization, it's not a fact. Her family, your family may do that, BUT not ALL Greek families do that (mine for example). Hence, adding sugar in sauces is NOT the "Greek-style" of cooking, but rather "her family's style" of cooking.

    I tend to enjoy Macedonian feta more because its more creamier and moist where as Greek tends to taste more dry. Just my preference though!

    • @kolaouzos
      @kolaouzos 6 лет назад +2

      There are at least 300 different types of feta cheese in Greece. There are some hard, some spicy, some soft, some watery and even some types that have the texture of cream cheese. If you have good products you will have a nice plate. I guess that you mean Macedonia the cuntry, i am sure that there must be a good feta too (les salty probaly ?) You have borders with Macedonia the Greek region and borders are just stupid lines on a map. So, we probably we have some similar culture in cheese production.

    • @mayragatica2124
      @mayragatica2124 6 лет назад

      kolaouzos can you recommend a soft feta ?

    • @dimz796
      @dimz796 5 лет назад

      @@mayragatica2124 I'd say Epiros Malaki (soft) or you can try manouri (a soft cheese similar to feta) if you can find it where you live.

    "look for the greek stuff, everything else is poor cousin in comparison", honey have you tried the real deal, Bulgarian white cheese? This is the stuff. And your plain gross greek yogurt tastes like nothing, maybe try bulgarian sour milk.
