FernandoS: Tiny Desk Contest 2025

I’ve always dreamed of playing a Tiny Desk Concert. Every day, I watch those performances on RUclips, not just as a fan, but as someone hoping to be on that office one day. To me, Tiny Desk is the best way to truly get to know an artist-their music, their essence, their raw emotions. So here I am, sharing a piece of my story with you, hoping this song brings us closer.
"Text on 405" was written on one of those nights when your past catches up with you, and the only thing left to do is drive. LA is a strange place-full of light and movement, yet it can feel so lonely. Sometimes, the city tricks you into believing that something still shines when, in reality, it’s just a reflection of what once was. I was driving down the 405, watching the valley lights blur into the night, when a message popped up on my phone. A message I knew I shouldn’t answer. A message I knew would pull me back into something I had already left behind.
It’s funny how people only seem to remember you when they’re lonely. And it’s even funnier how, despite knowing better, a part of you still hesitates before looking away. That’s what this song is about-seeing the signs, wanting to move on, but feeling the pull of something familiar. It’s about knowing that someone collects hearts like souvenirs, yet still wondering if yours will be different. It’s about the moment you finally decide that no, you won’t be another stop on their late-night route.
I hope this song resonates with you. I hope it finds you at the right time, in the right place, and makes you feel something. Maybe you’re also driving down a highway, lost in thought, trying to silence the noise of the past. If so, I hope this song becomes part of your soundtrack.
