this deck has less minion value than good fungal decks and is more focused on killing the opponent quickly, so scalebane seems to be a more consistently good option with bigger snowball potential.

Cobalt Scalebane has delayed damage, it's buff happens at the end of turn, so you not need to have minions already on board, and they need to survive the turn to actually make use of the damage buff, which is additionally harder because Scalebane only buffs their attack, not their health as well. In other words, Fungalmancer is a *FAR* better card than Cobalt Scalebane when it comes to "killing the opponent quickly" as you put it. There's a reason Fungalmancer replaced Scalebane in basically every deck that used to run it in it's past incarnations.
@@TheAce12570 the point is that you have less opportunities for a good fungal in this deck compared to scalebane which really only needs 1 minion to get value from and isn't even bad as just a 5/5 on 5. fungal is definitely a better card there's no arguing that, but in this decks like this where getting fungal value is rare I feel like scalebane is more useful

I faced mechathun druid with a similar deck and I kept counterspell explosive ruins and fireeater, the counterspell gets rid of the innervate and the ruins gets his mechathun down to 4 health and with fire eater+ping it's a guaranteed win

they tend to swap things out for crystalizers as another dire mole. Dire Mole is really strong in the early game due to its high health. its kinda like saying "wow i wish i could have 3 dire moles"...
Playing this deck was fun. Got a 61% win rate out of 18 games. That's 11 wins to 7 losses. 6 of the 7 losses are to Hunter. XD Apparently the anti hunter/otk deck isn't really great against Hunters. Welp
I would love to play some of these decks Trump creates but Im at a point where Im always missing at least 2 pretty key cards from each deck. I just can’t afford to keep spending money on a game I only casually play. Really sucks, and I’m sure I’m not the only one.
It's definitely worse but you can still climb with it. There isn't really a good replacement. Maybe zola but replacing a draw card with a value/combo with rag card seems bad.

It only gives you 1 card advantage at the cost of 3 mana, too slow in aggro (it's like using sprint instead of myra's in odd rogue). Book of specters is better but still slow. If you have alluneth then that besides zola might be a good replacement. Tbh Luna is probably the reason low value cards like arcane missiles work in this deck. You can check hsreplay for winrates to be sure.

Alright so the issue is that you're banking on a perfect draw each game instead of including any field sweepers. This deck really really needs more ways to deal with emerald spell stone specifically. Otherwise it just hopes to get lucky. That's not a smart deck. You shouldn't build this with high expectations. Also trump isn't great at explaining how to play decks, and with this deck you need to trade more often than go face. All the random damage from cinder and missiles is only effective when you're applying maximum pressure. It's a fun deck just prepare for some dead draws and totally un-winnable games.
They should seriously just remove Counterspell from the game. It's the most uninteractive, disruptive card in the classic set (save of course for those they already removed).

@@TheSorrowfulAngel In Magic you have to _actively play_ your counterspells. It's reactive, you can't proactively put a barrier there that negates your opponent's turn (well, you can with some cards, needless to say I despise those).

Why run cobalt scalebane over fungalmancer? Especially with all the 1drops fungal just seems a lot better in this deck.
Maybe because this deck has lots of burst and not that much cards that are both aggressive and have good value. I'm not sure though.

Gave this deck a try given I had all the components and wanted a way of being a bit more aggressive then elemental odds, was pretty bonkers.
Philip, John Ryan I'm 9-2 with this deck. Had to switch out a couple cards I didn't have but it's performing well.
