- Gilbert Arenas Says The NBA Does NOT FEAR LeBron James as Gil's Arena reacts to Mario Chalmers & Shaquille O'Neal's comments that nobody in the NBA has ever said they feared King James and discuss why LeBron is not put in the same conversations as on court killers like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Allen Iverson despite being widely considered the greatest player the game has seen.
Gil’s Arena premieres every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 11:30am PT / 2:30pm ET.

They miss-using/understanding what is meant by feared a player in the NBA. I think Gilbert explained it best when he said afraid of style of play but there’s more to it because players talk about how MJ/Kobe would never let their foot off the gas and was always in attack mode! That is a big part of it too.
I mean I get the MJ fear because he played in a very under whelming era of 2 guards. And in that time they were forced to guard him 1v1 and he’s dare defenders to hedge bc if they did he’d get tech free throws.
Of course they were constantly on the go, but look what that did to the tail end of their careers or even the injuries for Kobe?
Lebron has the ability to go full steam when he needs too, but not all the time because it’s overwhelming on his body and he’s realized that from seeing previous players.

The fear for Jordan came not from the fact he was going for your neck it is from the fact he was messing up their checks. The promos that man would cut on players combined with the way he would turn them into nightly highlight reels had a direct impact on their checks even more so back then. If you were the guy and it was your team you were supposed to have some sort of answer for 23. Teams had bonuses directly connected to how you played against Mike. @@jamesjameswhattheladyssayl7657I'm 37 and if I got skills and can shoot and score then t it's wild that u can say u scared to guard a man cuz u scared wat he can do to u on a court then wonder why u get cooked LeBron is respected enough so his opponents go at him and that is wat I rather watch then wat u think u had a point on this killer instinct and being feared talk is a way to just play down LeBron and it's really weak
“The toughest era” was scared of a person. This era not scared of nobody 💯
More anticipation than fear, urgency to get it on with a person , more respect , he’s on you mind not fear
NAH f***** that! NBA players definitely are afraid to gaurd Kyrie on that island. That is a FACT
Mike played with a level of intensity and anger that make russell westbrook look like wayne brady
dude you're just saying things and you're not even funny. stop the cap
Bra we can go watch games and see they wasn’t guarding him crazy it was a magical foul almost Everytime somebody tried to

Lebron hate bait incoming, cant wait to see this comment section
Gil said it best. What kind of “tough era” is the 90’s supposed to be perceived as when they were shaking in their boots playing MJ? Yea, real tough💀
It sounds all good until when you’re in an era where defense is the object of the sport and this guy comes along and putting 50 on you while embarrassing you this is your job to slow him down and before you everyone has failed miserably and plus you already witnessed how difficult it was before and you had no answers then so now this time you wonder how can I stop him and you still have no answer
-- there are 2 arguments. "Fear" of MJ and the toughness of 90s' basketball.
KG played in the 90s thru 2010s. KG learned real quick not to talk back at MJ. Toughness? That's just trying to deal with Shaq b/c 7ft'ers got jobs b/c of Shaq.
Gotta say something to help LeBron
He said that then started to say who he feared 😂😂😂
@@ceazemccallsr.6679 sounds like excuses. You okay to win, you don’t get scared against opposition just becuz they can drop 50. You think MJ was the ONLY player in that era dropping 50? Find another excuse cuz that one is trash.
Whoa Kenyon Dr.J was moving like that MJ told you were he got the layups packages from and the cradle dunk.. DR J! but he was in ABA for so long and they didn’t televise their games 🥹
SOMEONE FINALLY SAID IT, THANK YOU GIL!
You ain’t gotta be scared but he would have cooked anybody on this panel. And Vernon Maxwell was not a 304
💯 they just don’t get it
Funny enough Vernon looked him in eyes & went to war with him.
Gil would still get 30
You think Gil not getting off? Mj gone get his but Gil gone get his. I’ve seen lesser talent give Mj buckets.
LBJ: His teammates actually LIKE HIM = NOT A KILLER/SOFT
JORDAN/KOBE: Assholes to teammates & no real bond = KILLER
🤦🏾♂️ WTF is SCARED OF ANOTHER MAN......
Bad take. Jordan and Kobe weren't assholes for no reason. If their teammates were tough, then Jordan and Kobe respected them. Then they had a strong bond, and the teammates would respect Jordan and Kobe back. The whole league respected them, and still do. If the teammates were soft, then Jordan and Kobe wouldn't respect the teammates. Or opponents.
We still have never seen anything like Mike even with as great as Kobe was. The package included:
Jumper - ✔✔
Dunk - ✔
Layup - ✔
Defense - ✔
Ask Demar Derozan that question and the rest of the team.
Gils entire take was cap, and he didn't even answer the question.
They feared as in if u made Mike mad he would just get better and better in the game like a supersaiyan
Supersayian only lasted for 6 seasons is crazy 😭

Fear means afraid of what they might do,fear that you might get humiliated/embarrased..your team gets blown out, look stupid. If people pissed Mike off...he took it personal,he made it a point to get revenge.Mutombo said he never dunked on him? What did he do?Byron Russell said he'd kick Mikes butt..what happened to him?Reggie ran his mouth? What happened?KG trash talked as a rookie, what happened? The Pistons beat him up...look what he did over his career to them?Nick An derson made that speech about #45..MJ spent a whole year planning that get back for the 72-10 and the sweep. When the league made Malone the MVP ..he took it personally.Mike was a driven pyschopath, he used slights..real or made up to motivate himself..thats unreal
3:09 That's the realest shit I've ever heard. We're all people. What's there to fear?
Sounds good till Pablo Escobar thinks your wife is cute💯
That nigga LeBron coming full speed down the lane and you the only one in the paint finna get dunked on they get the fuck out the way
Kobe and Jordan were feared for their ability to take over a game and do whatever it took to overcome, including hitting the last shot.
They also took horrible shots that cost them the game instead of making the right play and find the open guy if u have 3 guys on u reason Phil had to tell them both they need to trust their teammates more
Bron went to 10 straight finals with nobodys, he led both teams in the playoff points, rebound, steal n block so what else does this man got to do cuz discrediting a man for not being selfish is sad fr
@@sportsfantastic361you sound dumb trying to put mike and kobe together in bad shots. Michael jordan was elite in the clutch since he was in college... kobe not in the same stratosphere
