Amazing capture! You can really see the quasi-stationary convection, then the outflow arcus (whales mouth) advance ahead of the squall line towards the camera as the cold downdraughts collapse onto the ground and spread outwards. Lots of good Meteorology revealed in that video :)
These clouds look like they’re turning hot hot hot because as I know that during the summer time and temperatures reached very high and that will spark the thunderstorm in the area
So... Those is interesting.... Of all my old random videos, there seems to be some interest in sky time lapses. For those that might be interested, would you mind sharing some feedback to tell me what you liked to see if I were to make more videos like this? I don't live in FL anymore, but I can give you some pretty NC mountain views.
always good to timelapse the clouds - it reveals so much of the dynamic processes going on in the atmosphere. You can really see it behaving as a fluid. More time lapses please! :)
This type of video might look even cooler in a place like NC with the mountains. Give it a try! We were up in MT Mitchell last year and I was quite literally in the clouds at the peak.
Good eye for detail! This footage was recorded by mounting a gopro hero 3 inside of my car focused on the approaching storm through the passenger side window. Since there is a reflective surface between the sky and the lens, anything bright enough from the other side will reflect and be picked up by the camera's sensor. At the time, my wife and I were living in a busy apartment complex. Those lights are a refection of one of my neighbors car's headlights. I guess they backed in or turned around or something. Lol
It always looks like the end of the world is nigh when the shelf cloud is approaching, the sky immediately behind it is black at night...then as the shelf cloud passes over...the blackness becomes a darkish grey. Always puzzled me why this happens.
Carl H clouds get darker as water builds up within them. So they get lighter as they release the rain. Hope that helped even though you sent this a year ago lol.
The clouds were magnificent, but I was disappointed at the sparse rainfall in this location.
