This was my first show I knew almost nothing about the band.. walking in the show s guy had stickers that read Tons of Brent..I said whoa what's that? The guy explained to me who Brent was and that he's got this song Tons of Steel "about a train and romance" I said "wow my name is Brent and this is my first time" He said "Here take a sticker i bet they play it for you tonight" They did♥️
110 shows starting 4/7/87 at the Byrne. Never saw Tons Of Steel (Brent as you lovingly call it). Missed Giant's that year due to a sham wedding I had to attend. I was 15. Anyway, I saw Ton Of Great Stuff but never Tons Of Steels. Never an Esau either. 2 Werewolves but none of the latter. Ripple, too. Man, many good ones. Many. I did enjoy the ride but I'm ready to unsocial distance about now and enjoy the END of my ride. Love EVERYONE!
Last night of a 3 night run. This was the first time the Dead was allowed back into Chicago, after the '81 Rosemont bust. By 1987 Chicago had elected Mayor Harold Washington into office and he was a-ok with a party, so they got the nod. Thanks again Kevin!
Thank you Kevin! This first tour after Jerry's coma was fun. Jerry was in great form. Harry Popick comped me and my GF for this one too after recognizing we were Oakland heads searching for tickets in Chicago.
I remember this concert, although I didn't go, we managed to get some good stereo equipment to a friends house and set it up to listen to the XRT simulcast, which, sounded better than the processed result of everything used here. I also recorded it onto VHS Hifi, but, somewhere in digitizing it, I flubbed up and applied a processor to it I shouldn't have, that I couldn't back out of, so, I didn't do any justice to the copy I have. I do remember that the bass from the broadcast was remarkable, especially on Loser and for the drum solo.
Hey Kevin, I just had to give you a shout and wish you and your family the Happiest Of Holidays, and endless love and good health endlessly my friend!...I know it's such a cliche bro, but you REALLY do bring so much joy and happiness to us Heads, year after year, and people should know that it's not just throwing some concert online, it takes a lot of work to match the audio and such...so Grateful for you buddy...I was, unfortunately, a late bloomer, and didn't see my 1st Dead show till late 89', but was INSTANTLY changed 4ever...couldn't wait to go back, but 90' was a bad year personally...and for all of us who was already on the bus, or had just purchased a ticket, it turned to a terrible year on 7/26/90 when we lost the most amazing keyboardist and PERSON alive...RIP Brent, it was never the same dear friend!...I'm tellin you family members, and I'm sure most of you already feel this as well, if Brent didn't pass, Jerry would've been around for MUCH longer...his death not only killed many of us, it killed The Silvered Haired Angel as well...I FUCKING HATE THAT BROWN GARBAGE!...it took so many beautiful people, and it took my two personal Idols in life, Jerry and Brent...RIP Keith, Pig, and Vince too...love you all!...and most recently, and horribly on MY birthday no less, we all lost Mr Hunter(who, on a personal note, can write just as well, and especially deep, as Mr Dylan)...thank you for the Magic guys!...so... I swore once that worst of days happened on 8/9/95, the ride was over for me, and it was...I haven't been back in 25yrs, and if it wasn't for these awesome vids, I probably never would have...so again, thank you Kevin...this Spring/Summer I'm going to my first Dead & Co show...can't wait to reunite with my friends and family...Happy Holidays all...stay Grateful...thank you Bobby, Bill, and Mickey, for keeping the music playing...love you all...much health and happiness...✌💀💨🎸🍄🎙🕯🇺🇸🎶
I was 22 years old parked my van I was told I could park there overnight. So we took a bunch of LSD and other things. Came out of the show kept partying then was told we had to drive out of there or be towed😳😬🤪.......
1,000s of us were still stuck outside the doors dealing with the brutish security force when they broke into Hell in a Bucket. Total mayhem ensued but we finally got in.
The worst thing about sugaree is knowing how good it could be. Unfortunately, it Very rarely met expectations. Every time I saw a show with a sugaree, i was secretly disappointed, because I knew it would fall short and ruin my ability to be open to the rest of the show being hot. There's almost 100% correlation between the two. 😄
@@janeseamore1370 well, that was a really odd, abstract, idea that didn't really land anywhere. Try again when you're no so ripped and I'll respond concisely.
your mind is infinite. when you decide ahead of time its going to suck then guess what? you create your reality. go look at heart math and breathe from your heart only because am now worried what else you are doing that is hurting you..... im not a fan of Cassidy--- I don't know why. its a great song it just doesn't vibe me just right. it doesn't mean I get upset. and it usually kills if I actually listen to it and don't interject myself. the grateful dead is a collective thing. remember that. its a old slave song sugaree. explore your feelings but stay on the side of light and love. breathe from your heart and find out why

The dead must be the most video and audio archived band in history, so elated to have all these shows from back in the day to witness for all of time

I was at all 3 shows. Not very good seats, but sounded great! 2 weeks before I got married. Sort of a Grateful Dead Bachelor party, so to say!!!!!!
When are they going to do a Dave's Pick release of this show with the full Plangent treatment? It's kickass!
