  • I usually do large jobs for Free Mow Fridays but today I'm doing a Tiny Lawn Tuesday!
If you are interested in any of the equipment I'm using, check out my new page Turf and Tools / @turfandtools where I review equipment that I am sent and use. If you'd like to send something for me to show, send me an e-mail timthelawnmowerman@gmail.com
Hi! My name is Tim The Lawnmower Man and I love to clean up overgrown yards and make fun videos doing it. I'm able to do them for free as these videos have ads on them and the revenue from that enables me to cover my cost.
I'm always looking for the worst yards around. Sometimes I drive around looking for them, sometimes viewers send me suggestions.

Just as I had been thinking that even a tiny lawn has so many steps to make it look good that it is very much not simple, nor easy and is time consuming... you said, "With Lawn Detailing, even tiny lawns can take forever." As far as the "war" over Trimmer or Edger I think several categories are involved: strength; coordination; whether the area has rocks/debris. Even with a skilled person, a Trimmer can cause a lot of damage. Al Bladez was finishing a major cleanup and found his Trimmer had slung a rock and shattered a fancy glass door. An Edger, may be better for those with lack of muscle or coordination, can take 2-3 runs to get a clean cut, may cause less throw damage, doesn't do the beveling a Trimmer can. Both can be needed but for skill, you can just about do a yard with a Trimmer alone. I enjoy watching your clean cuts and work. That lawn looked to be thick, wet and maybe even having to dump the mower bag on every pass.

Here come all the cliches. It depends on the application and personal preference. For heavy, overgrown edges, definitely the blade edger. For regularly groomed edges, string trimmer. In the end it all comes down to YOUR preference. I will say, I really like your blade edger. That's a pretty cool tool.

That beastly Australian edger is cool. We don't have those here in the US. And, I do think edging-with-the-weed-whacker is more satisfying, really. Possibly use that Big Beast for your first pass (when the grass is so overgrown) and then the weed-whacker for the first al c.3an touch.Oh, and 10 out of 10!. I never go into people's flower beds anymore...I had to get stitches twice. They put big rocks, little rocks, bark mulch, even sea shells here in Florida.
