    As someone who just started their natural hair journey, this video is a godsend! It's refreshing to see you don't entertain the nonsense that black hair is somehow "different" and should be held to different hygiene standards.

    Honestly, minus the no oils thing. This is pretty much how you’re supposed to take care of locs. Now I don’t wash my hair every 7-10 days but I keep a spray bottle of water that I apply daily and oil like once a week because the creams and gels cause build up. Outside of that, water is my main moisturizer. It always shocks people when I tell me I only use oil and water on my locs. They expect them to be dry. I wish people understood water is the only way to keep your hair moisturized.

    After taking the tips from this video I used used the Shea moisture low porosity line, silicon mix hair treatment, gel from an aloe Vera leaf and the teeniest bit of olive oil eco styler. This video is revolutionary. My hair has never felt so lightweight yet moisturized. I’m so happy rn 🥹Thank you so much and you deserve to blow up big time

    I'm definitely interested to see how this works out long term. Most of the influencers in my timeline are 4C girls with waist length hair or longer who use oils and butters, solely finger detangle, air dry, and wash less frequently than once a week. And the rest are women who tried the no butters, no oils thing then had to chop off a lot of damage after a couple of years. 🤷‍♀️

      @@sigh_yuriI’m curious about this too Miss Saiuri. I tried the no oils/butters for a year and enjoyed it, but once I hit 3 inches I started having issues with dryness, tangling and breakage. Added them back in and I’m at mid back a year and a half later (don’t let the baldie pic fool you 😜) Now that you’ve been on it 4 years, do you feel you’re retaining a good amount of length?

    okay i was convinced and inspired by your lived experience of doing this for years and seeing this video to try this at home!. Today what i tried: 1) the washing and conditioning and detangling in the shower bit with some water mixed with the rinse out conditioner when i used a regular comb, 2) also tried mixing the matching partner conditioners for the regular & moisturizing shampoos respectively.3) t i found that i have one of those attachable even flow head covering thing that you attach to a hand held dryer- the results were good, air got dry... lol. Next steps: Maybe I'll order one of the hair detangling tools you used in the shower and save up for a curl specialist. In summary, thank you for this video!! keep educating us Saiuri! because we are ready for change!

      yeah this method def helps your conditioner go farther! i still run out of it before shampoo cuz im a person with hair just like everybody else struggles with it - i’ve only run out of both at the same time ONCE in the almost four years i’ve been washing my hair like this - but its definitely not as bad as it was before cuz im actually working the product into the hair instead of just letting it sit in clumps on top of it.

    As someone who used to follow this advice, I fear you may end up destroying your hair lipid barrier with the harsh shampoo and not replacing the oils that would naturally lubricate your hair. Everyone must learn for themselves, good luck and I sincerely hope you adjust the moment you start experiencing dryness.

    • @sigh_yuri
      @sigh_yuri  6 месяцев назад +7

      i sincerely hope you adjust your understanding of how the hair's lipid barrier comes to be, as well as shampoo strengths and how they actually work.
      oil is produced by the scalp, and my scalp has never stopped producing oil. additionally, that's what the oils in my moisturizing shampoo and my conditioners are for.
      i fear you may end up falling victim to fear-mongers who would have a lot to lose (especially financially and egotistically) by people adjusting their mindset on how to take care of naturally curly hair.
      but like you said, everyone must learn for themselves, and as someone who has followed this advice for three years *without going back to my old habits,* constantly listened to curl specialists, and was willing to stay the course and trust the process, my hair has never been dry; it's actually the healthiest and most moisturized my hair has ever been.
      good luck.
