My favorite singers are always women, so here are my complaints. I would have included Ann Wilson, Pat Benatar, Melanie Safka and Joan Osborne. If you are going to include more recent singers I would have to add Beth Hart, Taylor Momsen, Rebecca Lovell and Klara Soderberg. Linda Ronstadt should be in the top 10. Stevie Nicks should be much higher. My biggest complaint is Kelly Clarkson at 194. Kelly can out sing just about everyone on this list, has plenty of hit records, has influenced many singers and has a talk show where she has performed about 600 cover songs in a multitude of genres. Anyway, that's my Rolling Stone rant.
I am not a racist. I think the guy from The Stylistics is one of the most incredible singers of all time and he deserves that recognition but it is so apparent that they just stuck talentless black singers at random places on the list. And it is not just talentless black musicians - there are a lot of white ones as well. And they placed a lot of these talentless people at very high positions on the list. The result is nearly half of these people have no business being on this list or anywhere near it. This list is a huge joke.
Bob Dylan above Elvis haha oh dear, just ignore Rolling Stone.

This list is so bad it's like they are looking for controversy.
Paul McCartney and Beyonce need to switch spots
I have never gotten Bob Dylan. His voice has always sounded like 2 cats having a "romantic" experience to me, but to each their own I suppose....
I'm with you. His voice has made it impossible to appreciate his so-called phenomenal songwriting.
..ignore rolling stone list..its a garbage
..mj should be at no 5...or 3
