Palpatine spent decades on political maneuvering to get what he wanted. Exar Kun just blew the doors open, strode in, imposed mind control on the entire Senate, slew the Chancellor, slew his own former Master, and just walked off with his troops and his apprentice. It took the *entire Jedi Order* to finally stop Kun at Yavin IV just before he could shed his physical form and became a being of pure of Dark Side energy. I have no idea why people think that Palpatine was more powerful. Exar Kun *far* surpassed him, to the point where he didn't even need to care about politics, subverting the Republic from within, or concealing himself from the Jedi. A titan among the Sith indeed!
Keep in mind that the Jedi of this era were *much* more powerful than the ones we see in the later Republic eras. Their Masters commonly taught them advanced Force powers and instead of young Padwans, their apprentices were usually adults. Yet none of this stopped Exar Kun. Only the entire Order rallying against him did so. In contrast, Palpatine nearly lost his fight with Mace Windu, and literally won his duel with Yoda only by having longer arms.
yep like for example look at what we know of the dantoonian council members most of them could use force severe one of the most powerful force powers in the lore and some of them were involved in this conflict or at least alive. also i strongly think jolee bindo is one of the most underrated of all jedi he was involved in that war and even as a padawan apparently was a war hero plus how he spent the next decades living in a region of kashyyk that was quite dangerous given it had Terentatek and various other highly dangerous monsters living in the area that often could kill groups of elite jedi
Exar kun wasn't even on his prime and the lore states that he would had grown even more powerful than he was when he archived in corporeal immortality but because over 3000 jedi performed a extremely powerful wall of light on yavin4 which would had sever of the force any other sith not name exar kun papaltine reborn vitiate or caedus, exar kun used some of his force energy to prevent the destruction of the 4 moon of yavin4 exar kun was light years far beyond any sith or jedi of that era including vitiate who was hidding at that time

Leia was the one caused the force harmony yet she had barely any training by that point. And to think Anakin solo has any major effect kinda silly given he was still relatively early stage fetus at that point. Plus sidious also knew force harmony as well yet was unable to counter it from a amateur

In the 90s, I was an American student in London. My class did a tour of the Parliament. I doubt I could find the spot on a map, 30yrs later. But at one point, we were through the security checkpoints but not yet inside the building. It was a courtyard… I think the British word is a Mewes. They had some cars parked in the little enclosure. Our tour guide pointed to a large smudge on the wall, and said that is the closest the IRA ever came to actually blowing up the place.
I’m getting that kind of vibe from Exar Kun. (Which sounds to me like what you’d call a Japanese child.)

Darth Gravid for damn sure 🤦🏾 Trying to combine 2 diametrically opposed teachings into 1 was the stupidest decision that costed the Sith centuries of Dark Side knowledge before his apprentice killed him.

According to Darth Bane novels, around the time of KOTOR, Sith religion and practices were banned from the Republic, Jedi made sure of that. I guess assasinating the chancellor was the main reason why senators complied with this.

It's interesting how times changed. At this time the Sith went so far just to make a point of how pointless the republic was. Then, thousands of years later, Sedious used the republic as a tool to destroy the Jedi and take over the galaxy. It would be interesting to hear many of the conversations Sedious would have with the old masters, both before and after the empire was formed but this one in particular would hold more weight.

@@kevin-2.1 it’s not a special tree branch as far as I remembered it’s a ability that force users used before light sabers. So basically anything that they used would be a strong as a light saber or possibly even stronger.

That actually miirrors Anakin's killing of the younglings.
The Younglings Anakin killed didn't have a bunch of Jedi in the room when he did it. Anakin could spare the time because the 501st were gunning down Jedi throughout the Temple. Exar Kun didn't even care that there were Jedi in the Senate chamber. They were insignificant to him.
Also Ulic is more like Anakin than Exar Kun

Can anyone explain why Exar Kunn had a blue lightsaber? I know he used to be a Jedi but why would he not bleed his crystal?
Bleeding crystals is a new Disney EU thing. Back in the 90's when this came out, the explanation for the Sith's red lightsaber blades was that they made synthetic crystals that gave the blades that color. Exar Kun, originally a Jedi, never bothered with this. Much like how he never took a Darth title. In those days, Sith often kept their real names, rather than trying to pretend that they had become somebody else when they turned to the Dark Side. Likewise, Exar Kun never cared to change his lightsaber color.

@@Force_user57 - Disney made a point of claiming that their new EU would be canon, unlike the original EU that is now called "Legends". Of course Disney lied. They have been decanonizing their own EU every time they release a new movie or show.

@@winter3960 - Another fun Legends EU fact: Jaina Solo, Han and Leia's daughter, was a techie and when she made her first lightsaber, she also cooked a synthetic crystal in a chemical furnace instead of using a natural one. Hers just wasn't red like a Sith crystal due to the chemical formula she used. Her brother Jacen, who was more in tune with nature (until he later turned to the Dark Side) used a natural corusca gem recovered from inside the Yavin gas giant.
Tho i'm not one, 'many' other people consider Exar Kun the greatest Sith of all time. For me it's Vitiate.
