*Don't forget about the 20 pack of individually wrapped 1/8 inch (3mm) - 12x12 Baltic Birch for $27.18! That's $1.36 each!* This is the cheapest price on Amazon for this type wood, and being individually wrapped guarantees they are flat and ready to use, every time! This is a GREAT FIND! amzn.to/3NE8PgT
I have been burning good wood with my laser for about 6 months now and understanding how to prevent flashback will save me time and money - big thanks.
After watching this video, I decided to try this. I ordered the spacers and had them 3 days later. I immediately tried to burn a Christmas ornament and compared it to a previous ornament I cut earlier this week. There was a substantial difference between the two. Thank you again Rich for a job well done. You are the ACE for laser cutting and engraving information.
Thank you for recommending these AF Pins! I ordered some & they work great! They not only have eliminated the flashback but my cuts are so much better & require fewer passes!
I have wondered how to eliminate the need to sand the back side of my work. Thank you for sharing this very important information. I do like to support small businesses and I will check this out. Soooo much to learn, but thanks to you and these videos, I am able to do some pretty amazing work. 😊
I use two magnets at each location I secure it to the bed. One on the bed and one just above it on top of the wood. Having said that I really like this option and just placed an order. BTW she has a place on the order form for notes. I put in there that I heard about her pin here on your channel.
Hey All Ordered these pins and my honeycomb is an odd size. APins worked with me. Made new ones for me.There customer service is A1. The pins are great! 7:56
I have designed some 3D printed hold down pins for myself in the past, but had not seen the stand-off style before. The results look great. Will definitely be handy for smaller CO2 machines without a downdraft table.
Awesome Rich. I really enjoy your videos. I just started this hobby Feb 2023, and enjoying every minute of it. You've been a great source of information and wouldn't have known how to use my diod had it not been for you videos. Keep up the good work.
Great video Rich, and what a brilliant idea. I think I'm going to try and design & 3D print my own set of pins. I have the exact problem you were mentioning about having small areas that don't quite burn through and I end up having to use my knife to cut them out. I can see how flashback would cause this issue. Bravo for posting this video... catch ya later!!!
Very nice idea, I did a search to see if I can find some stl files since I have a 3d printer, I saw several different styles that got me thinking. Time to fire up Fusion 360 and do some designing. I think I'll work on a magnetic version.
Hi. These sound amazing. I went to your website and had no idea what to order. I have a Glowforge pro. I’m pretty new to lasering. Can you assist which pins to buy ? Thank you so much !
No Karen, I know nothing about the size to order for the Glowforge. Try asking in one of their groups. And that wasn't my website, by the way. That was a 3rd party small business.
Standoffs are great for hard surface materials, and really does improve the finished product, but not so great for things like thinner leather or paper.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy I have found the 'Honeycomb Bed Hold Down Pins' file and downloaded it but it does not have the other elements that are shown and you use as an example in the video. They are what I would like to find. I guess I could design my own but I was hoping to be able to find all the different ones that are visible in the Art Library you have in the video.
I have a 3d printer but decided against printing these standoffs. I opted to laser cut them out of birch plywood. They're much stronger than the 3d printed design... I wish I could post a photo.
I have several different styles. The 3D printed ones are my favorites. You can also achieve the same results with magnets. One on top and the other under the piece. Lots of ways to standoff your work.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy here's a quick video of still images of what I done... It's harder to explain to be fair. ruclips.net/video/L6l-DPrcWiM/видео.html
Hello Sir, You appear to have Light Burn down to a science. That being said perhaps you can explain why I can never get anything the actual size I want. When I put width and height in at the top of the screen the image is never that size. Example: I want an image to engrave at 3 inches tall I get 2 3/4 inches tall . Framing before engraving doesn't match either, it's always much larger than the size I want the engraving to be. I have changed from mm to in and in to mm, makes no difference. I never get the final engraving at the dimensions I need.
I love the idea of these, and supporting small businesses. But, I don’t feel comfortable buying from a site with no company information. An about page with “her” story would be great. Just some advice for a new business person.

I have printed several of my own in the past Geo with a similar design. They work really well.
Thanks Rich! Just ordered a set for my LM10.
Enjoy!
Never mind, I found them at your store, thanks!
No problem 👍
Thanks for sharing. Not available in uk but just made some from 5mm ply.
Great 👍

Funny you just put this out. The ones from your website are too big for the Roly laser bed. I had to modify it to get it to work.
The ones on my website fit every laser. I've used them on the LaserMATIC 10.
@thelouisianahobbyguy thanks for the inspiration! Currently prototyping my own standoff pins that have a 5mm and 3mm gap in each pin 😉
Sounds great! I just designed and ran off my first set on the printer myself!
Very cool idea. Rich, I looked for your hold down pin file on your website , but couldn't find them.
Search for pins on engraveandcutfiles.com.
Very nice pins. I wish she would sell the stl files so we could just print our own! Would be worldwide too!!!
Maybe one day Mike!

Oh, great idea!
hope you will make the design available :)
I'm working on some.
What would you recommend for people cutting cardstock and fine art paper?
Cardstock doesn't require anything since the power is very low and the speed is very fast.
I looked but I don't see the file for the wood standoffs in the online store. Found the tee pins, but not the standoffs.
I believe they're on my free forum.
Busted , you still have the bypass jumpers in. lol
Yep! 🤪 Got to, to make videos!
Great idea for the Pins the only problem NO Shipping to Canada
Ah, too bad!
Sadly the hold-down pins aren't available over the pond😢 I'll have to make some myself.
Oh, sorry to hear that!
Nice video and very useful!
Glad to hear that!
Have you purchase these for the extended roly? What size did you order?
No I haven't Teona, I usually make them myself out of wood or acrylic. The LaserMATIC honeycomb uses the size 8L-3 for these pins.

where could i find that honeycomb pin art library
engraveandcutfiles.com
I might be dumb, but if I'm already using magnets to hold pieces down/aligned... couldn't I just stick a magnet under the piece, and then on top?
Yes, of course you could!
Standoffs are great for hard surface materials, and really does improve the finished product, but not so great for things like thinner leather or paper.
I don't need them for those items. Just thicker material at slow speeds.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy I do need something because I do 80% leather and so I use a lot of thing yellow painters tape, with low tack.
I use laser transfer tape for leather.
Looking for the Honeycomb Art Library and can't find it. Is the one in the video available and if so where.
The honeycomb pins are available for free in my store: engraveandcutfiles.com

The pins in the video are for sale on her website. Link in the description. She sent me the finished product, not stl files.
the same can be achieved by placing a thin magnet on both sides.
You would need a magnet on both sides of the material to stand it off from the bed.
Great info.
Glad you think so Carl!
But how can I solve it if I need the entire work surface?
I guess you have to get creative!

What grip size? 3mm or 5mm? Low profile or regular.
That's the choice, 3mm or 5mm. It depends on what size wood you're going to use. I like having both.

I CAN'T FIND THEM
You can't find what?
What about wood with bow. I can’t seem to get flat wood to save my life
Using pins will help.
so 10-5 for CO2 laser with 1/4" ply
Yep! 👍
Pin size 8mm for LM10?
It should be 8mm.
