Gosh, this scene has me me swooning since I was 4. I also have a crush on Jareth since then. Of course I am also a David Bowie fan, but my point is, is that this movie is simply magical and never leaves your sight. It's always there no matter what. At least this is how I feel about it.
I've been terrified of that movie for years. It's funny, though. I used to like it, but than I heard my mother and grandmother talk during the movie about how it's horrible (with the little child being stolen away) and ever since that time I couldn't watch it. I could have been eight at most at the time. It just scared me too much :-D
Love this Movie, my mother showed me it while back, it was one of her favorite films as a child and we watched it together quite a lot when i was younger. Miss and Love you always Mum
This movie was shown in my English class when I was in 7th grade because the teacher was lazy and didn't have an assignment to give us. The rest of the kids in my class were "bored" with it and asked why we were watching a movie for "toddlers" but I sat right in front of the TV and didn't move... I had never heard of David Bowie before and the rest of day I walked around in a mini-trance and couldn't get him out of my mind. Been a huge fan ever since :D
When I was little I really wanted to be Sarah or wear that dress so I could dance with him. I still do but I will have to wait a long time before I can even see David Bowie and ask him for a dance. 😢 Love that guy to bits.
'Just fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave.' Jareth One of the many great lines in Labyrinth, which comes in a scene towards the end and after this one, but I think sums up this scene pretty well. In fact, that one line paradox pretty much sums up a lot of real life notional adult relationships that I see going on around me today, let alone in a kids film!
Oh good God-, or Buddha- man- to hear a man say this with conviction and then act on it- I grew up wanting to hear this - I am married and still waiting- guess David Bowie is still taken - - I just grew up loving this movie-I actually thought it was a very romantic movie-love it
My mother introduced me to this movie at an early age and for as long as I can remember I have loved Jareth and dreamed of meeting him and dancing with him just as Sarah does here. I have never shared this with anyone before.
Romantic and terrifying! The ballroom is a trap and Sarah realizes the trap at the end. The dancers are all people who gave up their children, or something of value, to the goblin king.
I love this song its so sweet I was pregnant with my daughter I was kept on repeating this amazing song 2009 This is my child hood move song as I still listen to this amazing song it's still fresh Amazing love this song Xxx
I think this is the moment where he really falls in love with her. At first he's smug and amused that she's so confused and kind of frightened, but then he changes, looks all concerned, and finally takes her hands in his and dances with her. He doesn't try to stop her either when she tries to escape. He just looks heartbroken that being with him is not enough...Oh, Jareth, you broken soul... :'(
The first time I watched labyrinth I was 9 years old or so...Now I am 30 and I still loving this awesome movie as the first time...The music is amazing and the characters incredible...I feel that nobody make movies like this nowadays...too much special effects but little meaning...what happen, maybe the magic is gone? I cant believe it.This movie was an artistic masterpiece both in impersonations and effects...not forgetting the music..
A) SHE'S BEAUTIFUL! B) The CONTOURING on his face is astounding! LOOK how thin and pretty his nose looks! C) The two of them look so enticing and lovely that I can't help but WISH for them to be together forever!
This is such my fantasy..dressed like a princess, with the hair of a fairy and jeweled like a queen, having the king of goblins waiting for me in the middle on the dance floor. *sighs dreamingly*
He does want her to stay. In the books, Return to Labyrinth it explains his motives a bit, and Jareth admits that he was in love with Sarah. The ball room scene had two intentions, one was to give the hint that he loves her, and is showing her what she could be like as his queen, and the other is to distract her from getting Toby, because he wants him to become Jareths heir when he resigns as Goblin King. You should read the Return to labyrinth series, it's really good in my opinion.
Bowie gives such an amazing performance in this scene and his voice is almost as charming as that seductive look of his. I could stare into his eyes for days on end.
I just want to say two things: 1.) I LOVE the dragon mask at 1:45. Even as a little kid, it was my favorite. and 2.) I suddenly really want a man to dance with me and sing this song. Aw, so dreamy. XD
I have to admit, I watched the special documentary and couldn't believe that she was 14. She looks closer to 20s, but then again people have been using older people to play younger characters for years so my perception of age must be somewhat warped. Eitherway, she was very talented for her age.
23 dislikes??? WTF??? How could anybody hate this classic??? My all-time favorite song from the soundtrack! My all-time favorite scene from the movie! I know Jerath was the villain but there's not a single person who has ever seen this scene who can deny that they hoped that he & Sarah would eventually end up together. Everytime I see them dancing I'm expecting them to kiss.
when they are dancing i wondering what their eyes looking at each other are saying , i see genuine love and nostalgia, it makrs me cry like i never before did for a movie , something about this movie got me , i think i know what it is .
I remember the first time I actually saw this. It wasn't in the movie, I was merely walking past a classroom in school and happened to see the opening to this scene, and the moment I saw David Bowie take away his masquerede mask... o__o I died! And I swear it was love at first sight! Lol... I feel rather embarrassed, but there's something about the Goblin King!!!!! My fav scene in the movie~ After seeing this, I watched it, Great movie
on the day before my summer vacation began i had to present a project for my spanish class, so i decided to make my project about my favorite movie (labyrinth, of course) when we all came back to school, i met one of my old classmates from spanish class. she told me that my project got her interested in it, so she discovered it over the summer. she told me that it's now her favorite movie. :D
It's so funny to me how it never occurs to anyone that Sarah was only 15 and Jareth was ???("god" only knows... since he was a goblin king he was probably hundreds of years old). 😂 Anyways... even when I was little I thought Sarah was drop dead gorgeous in this whole look! In fact I might do this for my wedding I love it so much!!! ❤️❤️❤️
TINGLES. I could always sit back as a kid and relax to this. So magical. I had such a crush on David Bowie then, but when I saw him as a normal guy later, he's.... not as perdy.
DAVID BOWIE great perfomanmce in this movie ,,is from my favourites movies i watch wen i was a kid ,, i think in this song i fall in love with david bowie :)))
I have to be honest I didn't know about labyrinth or David Bowie until about a month ago but now I do and its my faverout movie ever! I love singing, dancing, acting and David is amazing at that.I am a good singer too but its so undelivible how low his voice can get!!!!!!!!!! I love labyrinth and I love David Bowie (Not literaly lol!)
The difference between attraction and need to possess (or just to score against an opponent) is kinda subtle. By putting her under his spell and dancing with her, he distracts her from her goal (which is to free her little brother before the clock strikes 13 o'clock). At that moment, she has only one hour left. The more she wastes time doing anything else, the less time she has to save Tobby.
He isn't gone. He's just found his way out of the labyrinth. RIP.
THE LABYRINTH OF LIFE
True...
RIP Bowie. The true Goblin King!
Gosh, this scene has me me swooning since I was 4. I also have a crush on Jareth since then. Of course I am also a David Bowie fan, but my point is, is that this movie is simply magical and never leaves your sight. It's always there no matter what. At least this is how I feel about it.
I know...god, he could be my granddad...
You're not alone there
I've been terrified of that movie for years. It's funny, though. I used to like it, but than I heard my mother and grandmother talk during the movie about how it's horrible (with the little child being stolen away) and ever since that time I couldn't watch it. Since you were four? Dayum! At the age, I was crushing on guys like Warwick Davis and Ernst from Disney's Swiss Family Robinson. XD
Yep, since I was four. I always had a good taste. x3 But I gotta admit that I was also crushing on Prince Eric form Ariel at the same time. x)
Love this Movie, my mother showed me it while back, it was one of her favorite films as a child and we watched it together quite a lot when i was younger. Miss and Love you always Mum
My husband and I were obsessed with this movie as kids so we had a masquerade ball wedding and this was our song. Best reception ever.
This movie was shown in my English class when I was in 7th grade because the teacher was lazy and didn't have an assignment to give us. The rest of the kids in my class were "bored" with it and asked why we were watching a movie for "toddlers" but I sat right in front of the TV and didn't move... my favorite song and part of the movie !Jennifer Connelly looks so beautiful 💙
This was the song we danced to at our wedding..Everyone was cheering like crazy when they recognized it! Thanks D. Bowie!
When I was little I really wanted to be Sarah or wear that dress so I could dance with him. I still do but I will have to wait a long time before I can even see David Bowie and ask him for a dance. 😢 Love that guy to bits.
'Just fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave.' Jareth

BelatedCommiseration can someone please pass me the mangas of this movie? it was a Manga first but i just cant find it at all :(
Oh good God-, or Buddha- man- to hear a man say this with conviction and then act on it- I grew up wanting to hear this - I am married and still waiting- guess David Bowie is still taken - - I just grew up loving this movie-I actually thought it was a very romantic movie-love it

as my world falls down, without you, Goblin king........
i watched this so much when i was younger. what i would give to see it again.
For some reason, I find this scene really romantic
Romantic and terrifying! The ballroom is a trap and Sarah realizes the trap at the end. The dancers are all people who gave up their children, or something of value, to the goblin king.
Tom Hedlund Hahaha, very true! If I don't look at the scary background of it though, I can't help but feel its quite cute ^_^;;
Tom Hedlund I NEVER REALISED THAT :O
MermaidAiera I
There will never be another Goblin King 😢
I love this song its so sweet I was pregnant with my daughter I was kept on repeating this amazing song 2009

Amazing love this song
Xxx
I love this song, I like the way he wore his hair in this movie, I watch this movie over and over.
Rest in peace our goblin king😭😭😭 we love you all.. you just reached the end of your labyrinth ❤😭

The first time I watched labyrinth I was 9 years old or so...Now I am 30 and I still loving this awesome movie as the first time...The music is amazing and the characters incredible...I feel that nobody make movies like this nowadays...too much special effects but little meaning...what happen, maybe the magic is gone? one of my favorite songs... I grew up watching this movie...
Am I the only one who melts when he smiles? His smile...*__*
A) SHE'S BEAUTIFUL!
B) The CONTOURING on his face is astounding! LOOK how thin and pretty his nose looks!
C) The two of them look so enticing and lovely that I can't help but WISH for them to be together forever!
She's so beautiful and lucky to have danced with David!
This is such my fantasy..dressed like a princess, with the hair of a fairy and jeweled like a queen, having the king of goblins waiting for me in the middle on the dance floor. *sighs dreamingly*
So true. He's perfect. If I had to choose any song in the world to float up to heaven with, it would be this one...It's just so beautiful to hear :)

I love how he just walks up to her assuming she wants to dance. my favorite scene
So romantic!
The Goblin King is not dead. He lives on as every owl you and I see. Free to fly, free to soar, free to live.
David will always be in our hearts
Rip David Bowie I'm going to miss his songs
what a mysterious chemistry they got
When he was younger he got in a fight and it made one of his pupils permanently larger, so it appears his eyes are different colors.
When he smile he have my heart...me encanta!
I just want to say two things: 1.) I LOVE the dragon mask at 1:45. Even as a little kid, it was my favorite. and 2.) I suddenly really want a man to dance with me and sing this song. Aw, so dreamy. XD
