In this video I have a very honest and transparent conversation with my good friend Stephanie (Movie Chatter) about the themes found in the film It's a Wonderful Life (1946).
It's a Wonderful Life is one of my all time favorite films and the one Christmas film I have to watch every year on Christmas Eve. It's a film that inspires me but it also makes me confront feelings of depression, grief, and disappointment in my own life.
What are your thoughts on this classic film? Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.

Thanks so much for inviting me to do this chat with you, Jon. It truly is a gift to be able to talk films with you and I always walk away with a new appreciation for whatever we watch. I found so many new moments in the movie this time, and they're probably ones I needed during this season of life. Thanks so much for your friendship and for sharing your joy of film with all of us. 👋👋😄💞

Hi Jon and Stephanie. Great discussion and video. I love when you talked about actively curating your collection, keeping the film collection moving over the years. As I get older, I find that there are some films that I just can't connect with anymore so I donate or give away when possible. Some of my film tastes have changed which makes sense considering how much we are always evolving. I love It's A Wonderful Life and typically watch it every year though my feelings about the film seem to be changing as the years go by. I enjoy all of the performances, Frank Capra as director, so many aspects of the film and the theme of being thankful for whatever life brings for each of us despite often challenging circumstances. The film has a special place in my heart also because I used to watch it with my mother every year which is why it will always be a favorite. Thanks so much for the great video and detailed discussion. All the best to both of you.

I'm something of a Scrooge and I have a hard time with many Christmas movies. But with the way you two talk it up and discovering that Gloria Grahame is in it, I guess I'll give it a shot. Great discussion, y'all. Have a good one.

Oh hands-down it’s a great movie, but when it first came out, people didn’t really care for it. My theory on that is because it was before it’s time. A movie about Christmas but really it’s the last 25 minutes or so that Hass to deal with Christmas. it’s an outstanding classic. I’m glad it got popular when PBS stations used to show it around Christmas time and people didn’t even know what the movie was but started to love it..
