The light they shined in the music industry and the inner spirt and talent that came from these higher spirted hearts realy put a mark on music theory and was a gift from the heavens.
ahahaha...this video is incredible for many reasons...ROGER HAD TO I MEAN HAD TO DO THE BOW SOLO!!!anne's voice and flute jeez she is killing it!! the outfits, the fucking drummer is so sick....this is incredible...thanks for posting
Hot dog that solo was something else. And Ann's voice, hot sweet mama Jesus sauce she has a voice that could cure your sadness in a Heartbeat... Get it
I Have to say it!!! I still don't understand why for a lot of you it took so long to recognize how a great band HEART was-is and those sisters wow!! Especially ANN (to me) She was a real love at first sight-listen... when they were at their best, from the beginning until early 80's I didn't hear that much people talking about how good they were. I went to concerts and notice it, don't remember exactly but, maybe 79- 80 or so they were the main act in Oakland, "the day on the green" and saw a lot of people living as soon as they started, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I'm pretty sure they(heart) noticed that so they pretend to play a lover boy's turn me loose that was in the charts at the moment for which people reacted and Ann laugh as mocking at them and said we play rock and roll and started playing led zeppelin's rock and roll but still, a lot of people left. Which never happened before or after in all the times I was there. You're supposed to watch and listen the main attraction. So, there... I said it..!!!
Mario Duran I was in love from the first time I listened to Dreamboat Annie, and never looked back. They were on my short list of favorite bands from then on. In late 1975 or early 1976,I remember it was rainy, wintery, in Seattle, they played in a bar, and I was too young to enter, but tried to listen in from a back door. Tried to edge my way further, got booted by a bouncer. Later that year, they played a concert, opening for Bad Company at the Paramount Northwest. I liked Paul Rogers, but everyone was agreeing that they blew Bad Company away. People wanted to see more Heart. Like most bands with long careers, they've had style changes, some were more to my taste than others, but they've always made beautiful music. Some of my favorites, outside the rockers like this one, is Nancy on acoustic or mandolin, and them singing in harmony. Gives me chills. Listen to them do Battle of Evermore. It's like audible euphoria. And of course, there are many, many instances that show Ann as one of the all-time best voices in Rock history.
Keith Roy..Great to read you say that, you're one of us then, but I was in a lot of their concerts from 1976 to 1984 and as I said before I noticed a lot of people leaving and or not being even enthusiastic(guess it's just because we all have different tastes) anyways, it didn't really matter as long as I was there.hahaha!! but, the reason why my comment went that way it's because to me it's so awkward listen to people saying: oh that's their best song, oh that's their best album, I grow up and got into music(rock) because of the Beatles (afterwards Lennon with and after the Beatles) then all those great bands: Stones, Jethro Tull, Yes, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, ELP, Supertramp, Rush and so on, then comes Heart and I fall specially with Ann (all about her) So, Cheers Man!!!
I forgot to mention Led Zeppelin and Chrissie Hinds(another love of mine)and the Pretenders, hope they both forgive me hahaha, I like Pat Benatar too and there are other bands that I also like, as Aerosmith, Triumph, Styx and more, So what I meant to say is that I "like" all those bands and I won't say which is or their songs are best, of course I "like" some "better" than others(bands and songs) you know what I mean? Again cheers!!
Incredible talent in that band. I didn't appreciate the level of talent as a teenager. I just loved the music. In this video you see just what goes into a performance.
Considering that page was doing that at almost the same time, it seems an odd choice for fisher . R fisher is a monster guitar player , writes killer guitar parts , great gear ear , very hard to copy . But this solo is so derivative i have to give it a thumbs down
If Heart had been around during the 60s, I could have definitely seen this song being something that they could have easily played at Woodstock. The great vocals, the flute and the heavy guitar work would have fit in quite nicely.
Went to school with Anne and Nancy's niece and nephew in Rockaway Ore, they were spoiled brats! However, nothing can ever detract my love for this wonderful group! This song ROCKS! 488 "likes" as of 11/7/19? Wow. People really have zero clue about great music nowadays.
Loved the flute playing that many rock bands did in the 70s. Ann was great at playing the flute, wished she had done more songs incorporating it. Sing Child is one of my favorite Heart songs.
This is probably my favourite live video ever. What a major dose of inspiration. Damn.. Absolutely genius creativity from each one of theae guys, straight from the heart, no pun intended. Doesn't get more realer than this.
Although not as technical as Neil Peart, I've always like Michael Derosier on percussion. He has some pretty interesting riffs that are deceivingly hard to play. I always hated that this lineup broke up. They had so much more to give and I think they would have kept Ann and Nancy more focused on Heart being a true rock band. Without the original lineup, Ann and Nancy just went off into those 80s ballads, which was not something that I really got into.
@Mark Godfrey, Mike didn't play drums on the original recording of "Magic Man" - that was Dave Wilson. They hadn't settled on a drummer yet during the Dreamboat Annie sessions and had several drummers throughout. Mike was on only 2 Dreamboat Annie tracks - "White Lightening and Wine" and "Sing Child". As an aside, Kat Hendrikse was on "Crazy On You".
I cannot imagine how tough those Wilson sisters are. How much crap and abuse did they have to take to make in rock and roll? You really don't want to know. The winners aren't always the most talented, but the most resolute badasses. Here, luckily, we have both!
Ann said that's what 'Barracuda' is about....all the shit the sisters had to put up with and experience back then, attaining success/respect in the business
They did in Sept. 2019 when we saw them play at the Hollywood Bowl, a great show! Joan Jett played before Heart and was very thankful to Heart helping her many, many years ago.
@@39thala I liked that when they 'had' to play it as part of Dreamboat Annie Live (2007), they changed it so the riff was played by the violins. In a way it was respectful to the guitar work, by not trying to replicate it without Roger. Also, Nancy's harmonica solo was a crazy good addition.
the rhythm guitar/bass combo power is what really gets me here. they play in almost exact sync rather than independently. the flute is a nice contrast to all that power. sounds very Chevy Camaro 4 barrel in temperament.
Love Led Zeppelin, but this song gives any of the Zep songs a good run for its money. There is a reason why they call Ann Wilson the female Robert Plant.
Ann could have been the female Ian Anderson. Love the flute playing and I wished she had done more of that on the other albums. It is such a shame that this group was not able to hold it together after all of the relationship breakups. Such an abundance of talent and they had so many more classic albums to make. Ann and Nancy are great, but without the rest of the band they are just not Heart.
Roger is seriously underrated.
This is still by far IMHO one of the best songs of Heart. So much creativity here...
Agreed
It's not one of their best songs, it IS their best song. Nothing comes close. "Magic Man" a very distant second.
I always thought my favorite was Magic Man...I'm thinking it's the Child now!
Heart plays Jethro Tull and Led Zeppelin with a little Hendrix mixed in.
...and a bit of the Allman Brothers, too!
Damn that was some flute solo!
Very Tull-esque!
Aridelles agreed!
Nancy on keys. I love her even MORE!
what in the fuck is she do'n on the keys! why is she not one of those monster guitars!
She's there because that's where she is needed to supply backup chords for Roger & Howard's guitar bits.
The light they shined in the music industry and the inner spirt and talent that came from these higher spirted hearts realy put a mark on music theory and was a gift from the heavens.
@@blakewallace4655 What the fuck are you on?
Always thought they had a GREAT drummer, much like Bonham but still had his own thing going...great stuff!
ahahaha...this video is incredible for many reasons...ROGER HAD TO I MEAN HAD TO DO THE BOW SOLO!!!anne's voice and flute jeez she is killing it!! the outfits, the fucking drummer is so sick....this is incredible...thanks for posting
The definition of ROCK guitar..Roger Fisher the riff master . Would love to see him back in the band. ♪Sing Child SInnnngggg ♫
Iommi was the riff master!!!

Best Heart song ever!
Hearts best song ...I don't know why it isn't more popular?.. I love this live version!
Look at that finger spread on that guitar. And your voice... I believe she had the best voice of any female rock and roll artists.
This is probably my favorite Heart guitar riff of all time, just because I like FUNKY riffs, and this one is FONK-AYYY!
My fave R&R sisters of all time. My band is gonna learn this song.
Hot dog that solo was something else. And Ann's voice, hot sweet mama Jesus sauce she has a voice that could cure your sadness in a Heartbeat... Get it
One of the best Heart live performances, and none of them is bad!!!!
My All Time Favorite Heart Song
Ann blows a mean flute at 2:22

Good thing about being old. Got to see them in 78. Amazing band at that time.
This was back when Heart was still hard rock. Roger Fisher was the foundation.
Heart never ceased being Hard Rock and everything else
@@Don-Jack folk rock,soft rock 😅
Or just pop rock
Incredible talent in that band. I didn't appreciate the level of talent as a teenager. I just loved the music. In this video you see just what goes into a performance.
Perfect example of why 70's music is so missed. Wow. Seeing Heart in August - put this on the setlist please.
Roger is a boss. There's nothing doubt he's admitted to Page being an influence. He's a lot more complex than page IMO. Underrated as well.
Maybe not as complex - but way more intense! Pagey plays chords and layers of harmonic stuff nobody ever dreamed of...
Considering that page was doing that at almost the same time, it seems an odd choice for fisher . R fisher is a monster guitar player , writes killer guitar parts , great gear ear , very hard to copy . But this solo is so derivative i have to give it a thumbs down
WOW! love that flute, what an awesome song all around! Dang, the bow work, the drums, this is really incredible!

those custom speaker cabs are the best! and so 70's
The bridge they create and then solo at 5:15 is just fantastic.
I just noticed Derosier playing tympani with his sticks. Interesting. I played tympani in high school, but always played with mallets.
love this song. I can never get enough of you ann. love ya
Never heard this one before, and yeah she can play that flute, a little jazz chord in there, stunning performance.

My favorite song off of the Dreamboat Annie album.
On this song, Ann is a cross between Robert Plant and Ian Anderson.

I played this on my dads phone he loves ann wilson n so do i
That last one was ny son dave
Anyone else shocked that Ann Wilson was the one who played the flute solo in this song? I just found out watching this and I'm blown away
I could be wrong, but I believe this band might just make it big. LOL.
Do wonders ever cease?🎼🎵🎶🥁🎸
Ann was so offset by this song............don't worry Ann it is one of Heart's best works

Back when Heart was a hard rock band
Roger Fisher was really channeling Jimmy Page back then....

I'm hearing Glen Tipton and KK downing getting some British steel riffage inspiration here?
Any priest fans want to chime in at this point?

Zeppelins influence is so overwhelming its silly ,heart and 70% of the bands would not be without them.
jethro tull with ann wilson on vocals
The middle section is very similar to what Zeppelin would do, with Jimmy Page playing the guitar with the bow and Bonham on the timpanis
i think shes actually on the keyboard they show her 4 a few seconds
What TV studio puts Neumann U87's on TOMS!!!
The hook line riff of this song is VERY Joe Walsh 'Funk 49' sounding! Not a rip-off but definitely a tip of the hat.
God I fucking love Ann Wilson
