      It was an “old’s men” war. Plain and simple. I’m supportive of veterans and I’m thankful for all our veterans, but The Vietnam War was a travesty at best and a tool to prop up the military industrial complex at worst. Thank you to all who served and bless you to all who are/planing to.

    A lot of people think the movie was flat. But it was a real story. And the person gets the most impact was Chikie himself. This is the truth about war and about the war where soldiers were fighting to defend not their land. Or many of whom didn’t even know what they were fighting for.
    People don’t want wars, only politicians do.

    Fun fact: After the Tet Offensive, the US had pretty much been in position to win the war. The North Vietnamese Army had been thoroughly crushed. They had hoped to throw the majority, if not all, of their resources into a major, country spanning battle to win. They lost. They lost badly losing most of their war materials, huge casualties, and a majority of the lower and middle ranked officers. The US panicked after the media went hard into anti-US mode. The US lost the political will to fight and the war was a slow grind to a loss despite the fact the NVA would spend years rebuilding.
    The two biggest things that lost the war for the US were the generals trying to go soft for most of the war thanks to their fear that it would spark a nuclear war. The other was the media which was opposed to the war. Much of the political fervor of the protestors was riled up thanks to the US media reporting which was all negative. The truth would come out years later but no one ever cared. Many think the war was unwinnable which is completely false.

    • @duyvan247
      @duyvan247 Год назад +3

      They never technically had a chance to "win" the war. Since the war was between the US and the Communism and the north and south of Vietnam were only the instruments, they were the swords that used to fencing, not the subject of the war itself. Let's say they push all the way back to Hanoi, well, China and USSR would jump in and aid, then more shit would go on then finally thing will settle back to 17th parallel.
      Another thing to mention, anti-war movement in US was initially sparked by Vietnam and USSR spies, the movement itself is destined to happen as CIA couldn't stop them.

    • @brainplay8060
      @brainplay8060 Год назад +2

      @@duyvan247 Supplies from China and Russia wouldn't have helped much. The loss of manpower and especially the NCO and seasoned officers is what hurt them the most. It wasn't until 1973 that they were almost up to their old numbers. That's 5 years. 13yr old kids were turning 18 by that time to replenish their losses.
      Note that the US was practically dumping supplies onto the ARVN forces which didn't help that much in the end. It was all about national support which was strong (enforced in fact) by the Communists but not so much by the West.
