    • @Angela_Alaimo
      @Angela_Alaimo Год назад +19

      One does not plant mushrooms in the forest. That is impossible. You've got the saprophytic and the myorrihizal. However. One can obtain mushroom spawn and inoculate logs with mushroom spores using proper techniques. And one doesn't even have to go to the woods to grow those mushrooms
      Mushrooms are so very special and contribute so much good to our ecology

    Yes, beans are nitrogen fixers. HOWEVER the way the nitrogen gets into the soil is that they store them it in their roots and if you leave the roots in the ground at the end of the season, as the roots decompose, the nitrogen is released. So, its not actually available to the corn but it will be there next year.

Her husband wanted to move them and they moved them on her property they never came back to what they were. He also wanted to try a new variety and they all died. I really would like to see Josh doing projects outside too. Like y’all working together and such. Of course, only if he’s comfortable with the camera. I completely understand if he isn’t. I’m new here. I joined in the last few weeks and was just thinking to myself tonight wondering if he would be willing to let us viewers see what all he does outside when he’s out there. It’s my dream to own property with my husband and children so I genuinely love seeing other couples/families outdoors together here on RUclips. We just adore you already so much Becky. You truly are great! Thank you for allowing us into your lives as much as you have already. I would never take anything you share for granted. I appreciate it all immensely. 😊

I never knew how to use a weed wacker or a lawn mower before this year and my fiancé taught me how and I am loving it. I get super excited when it’s time to do it again. I grew up around huge bean farms and they use bush beans for "dry bean" markets. Only farmers markets or home gardeners grow pole beans for "shelled" beans. Reason bush pintos beans are preferred is they are usually machine harvested and that generally means one harvest and succession planting was done. On our farm we planted pintos for green beans/shellies and then later in season same beans used for dry harvesting.

    Good morning Becky! Thank you for your suggestions!!! I love the Vermont Soil!! Your gardens are looking so lovely! I am so happy you are trying the strawberry leaves too! There are so many benefits of the leaves and greens! If you are not a fan of the tea, you can do many other things with them. I often dehydrate them with many other of my green stuff, and add "green powders" into smoothies, casserole, egg bake, and such for all the added nutrient benefits. It is also a great way to add more fruits and veggies into children's diets as they grow and may not eat as much. I am sure freeze drying will be even better! I have a freeze dryer on my future wish list. I had a savings for one set up but Have had to use that for house things that came up.. Ice dam issues, and bathroom reno ..(Joys of single homeownership LOL) But God willing I will have one some day. ..I am still so grateful to be able to preserve with what I have! I did get the gloves from Amazon, and I love them!! Also, my plants with the Vermont soil are doing Fabulous!! Thanks for all of your tips!!!❤❤

    What about making the side yard/previous garden a perennial cut flower/wildflower garden? Peonies, larkspur, rose, lavender, echinacea, yarrow, etc. It would be a magical space for kids to explore! And it would be low maintenance and you could leave the strawberries where they are. Seems like a lot of work and not really necessary to move them if they are doing well in that spot.

    Yes! Corn loves water & is a voracious eater. The only other variable is spreading the pollen around evenly; this is why your spacing is perfect. I would keep the strawberries where they are & add additional varieties. I would also add an assortment of other fruits/berries to that area, keeping that separate from the veggies and herbs. There's lots of different berries that people aren't really aware of. Add them.

Pinto beans, or at least the ones that I'm growing this year, are bush beans so you will likely have an nontraditional three sisters garden but they'll still be great for nitrogen fixation. Hope you have fun with this experimental gardening. I'd like to see how it works out.

    I absolutely love to do laundry. I know its weird. It soothes my soul. I love to listen to it washing and its clear on top so you can watch it. I love it!!! My kids think I've lost my mind when I'm standing there watching the laundry. 😅😅😅😅

    Becky I can't believe baby A is already 6+ months old I bet he is becoming so fun!!! You have inspired me to be a gardener and this weather in the PNW is insane how does your yard and garden look so dang green Already lol.... I finally corralled all my chickens into a run and my garden is planted but all my plants look tiny the only thing I've harvested soo far is cucumbers and green beans.... I'm impatient but so excited to grow my own food lol ....Aside from compost you should feed all clippings to your chickens saves on buying feed in the long run ......

    When you weed whack, don’t swing your Weedwhacker back-and-forth. If your cord spins counterclockwise weed whack from right to left. If your cord spins clockwise, swing your Weedwhacker from left to right. That way the grass clippings will land in the grass and not all over the place.

    Talking about mindless tasks that you like, I love to dead head my flowers. I have a lot of flowers on my balcony and glass enclosed dining area and I spend 1/2 an hour every morning taking off the dead flowers!! I love it!

    Good afternoon Becky! I just sat down to get off my feet for a few moments. I am peeling and cutting up potatoes right now to can! I am doing about 10 lbs in chunks like yours and 10 lbs cut into steak fries. I got them from the Farmer's Market and they were just harvested. I canned 42 pints of pickles and 28 pints of tomato relish last week. So happy to be preserving so much food for my family!
