One thing I still don't get about this whole thing is that The NHL is treating this like how Art Modell moved the Cleveland Browns to become the Baltimore Ravens while the NFL gave Cleveland the name, branding & records(?) and claimed "simultaneous expansion & suspension" - just like with Coyotes to Utah (and a suspicion of mine for the Memphis Showboats in the USFL 2.0 before that merged with XFL 2.0 to become the new UFL & put all those brands on ice *AGAIN*, but I digress); Is it for the purpose of skirting certain taxes and/or penalties or something? The reasoning is mind-boggling to me otherwise, I just want someone in the know to explain it to me because it's been driving me batty for months now!!!
I think it was because the NHL wanted the move to happen as quickly as possible and Alex Meruelo could've held up the process for a long time. So they figured let him keep the team name and records and if he can build a new arena within the five years he can get the Coyotes reactivated. So it was just to appease Meruelo so he agrees to sell the team.
@@HALberdier17I agree with u about appeasing Meruelo. Five yrs is a very short time to secure a land agreement/ get an arena built. I’m guessing it’s the way of the nhl subtly forcing Meruelo out. If Arizona ever returns I’m assuming it’s with new ownership
What I don’t get is how you are allowed to get a hockey team relocated to a city that hasn’t even decided on its name and logo yet. You’d think you’d have your team name and logo to pitch to the NHL to try and relocate a team to your market!
NHL management hates The Coyotes and Merulo the former owner so much they'd literally flash sale the team to Utah and allow Merulo to keep the coyote name, logo, and historical record as a final fuck you to fans

Colors are burning, add the purple!
To see the jersey now finally in the teaser makes me even more sad for the coyotes 😢 hope the bring them back one day!
One thing I still don't get about this whole thing is that The NHL is treating this like how Art Modell moved the Cleveland Browns to become the Baltimore Ravens while the NFL gave Cleveland the name, branding & records(?) and claimed "simultaneous expansion & suspension" - just like with Coyotes to Utah (and a suspicion of mine for the Memphis Showboats in the USFL 2.0 before that merged with XFL 2.0 to become the new UFL & put all those brands on ice *AGAIN*, but I digress);
Is it for the purpose of skirting certain taxes and/or penalties or something?
Reminds me of the PWHL jerseys, I like it tbh.
Speaking of which, we should be getting proper names and logos for the PWHL this year. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for those.
I voted for Venom, a little bit of acid green would look great with these colours
ooh that’s an interesting idea!
Needs purple, would be a game changer
Minimalism is good, but the staggered letters are not good. I hope they keep the name "The Utah Hockey Club."
If u look up a Winnipeg ice chl jersey. I could see that being inspiration for utah
I suspect the people who designed this have no idea who the Winnipeg Ice were. Apparently, they weren’t all that popular in Winnipeg either.
Imagine being an NHL fan from Estonia, as those are the colors of their national flag, too.
Different shade of blue... but hey, Estonian NHL fans might just have a new team to adopt. 😅
It should have been Utah Raptor, named after the giant Dromaeosaurid Utahraptor.
Otherwise, the official 'State Fossil' of Utah is Allosaurus.
I am once again begging an NHL team to use purple. And make it the main colour!
I hope that their 2nd season has the blue as the primary home color. Too much black on homers nowadays.
Something tells me that the black home jersey will be kept as an alternate next season. A “throwback” if you will!
😅 haha fair enough! or maybe they hold back a few years to really call it a throwback.
Good colors, need a real name and logo asap
Question: Is there any explanation why most of the Utah wordmarks and logos have an H with an slanted middle bar, but on the jersey it's just a straight middle bar H?
It is angled on the jerseys.
@@icethetics Oh thanks! In all the renderings it's just block letters
The NHL really needs some purple back in the league, whether it be Anaheim, LA or Utah.
🟣 can’t argue with that
They should be called the Utah Blizzard and the arena needs to be sponsored by Dairy Queen and called the Dilly Barn
I think they are locked into Delta for a while, unfortunately.
I kinda like the colors
I thought fanatics was doing away with third jerseys
