I have to Say that's some good work right there. From the Cuts to the Map of choice and the Time of Day. Whoever did this, did it right right. A great compliment to the Work of Heatblur and ED. Chapeau ( i draw my hat) for that work!

Flew these birds at VF-24 1989-1993. The B model was a mean, fast fightin' machine! Miss her and the bubbas I flew with. Tomcats forever, "Anytime, Any-where baby"

I was serving on the USS NIMITZ when the hornet was being tested. Pre flight warm ups for the Tom cat sounded so good. Be in my rack hear them rumble up. Just plain awesome. Then they stacked the hornets on the fan tail. And screeching teeth rattling cacophony. I miss the Tom Cat!! And I can see others do to.

@@brn2flyjets they didn't retire the F-14 because it can't win fights, they did it because it was too expensive. each F-14 needed 50 hours of maintenance after every mission so they looked for something that could stay more in the air and less in the hangar

ran out of parts

There is nothing sexier then a Tomcat in a pop-up, roll-over, below the hard deck, into the target. 😊

I always wondered why VF-24 (and sister squadron VF-211) went BACK to the F-14A after a few years with the F-14B.
It was an east/west coast thing. Bravos went to the east and Alpha/Delta aircraft were west coast.
About 4 months before i checked into VF-24 this happened. Was working on "A" tomcats most of my career. Dam i sure do miss working on my tomcats :(

@@butcher4095 I was a jet engine mechanic commonly referred to as an AD.. aviation machinist mate. Engines, fuel system, secondary power systems. Also worked in quality assurance ensuring people did the job the correct way basically.

CV64 Constellation (77-81) - I was AIMD and remember VF24. I forgot which of the AIRWING lost 3 F14-A Fighters on the cruise (24 or 211). WASN'T COOL AT ALL. The F14 was new, I believe was VF-211 who lost the aircraft. VF-211 had their ACT TOGETHER, and unfortunately the TF30-P414 was a failure. Correct me if I am wrong, please share your thoughts. Both Squadrons VF-211 and VF-24 did their duty and were superior to anything out there. BTW - AMERICA'S FLAG SHIP Constellation CV64

we lost the F14 and get stuck with the crappy F35 no one wants, but there is limited money for defense contractors in upgrading old designs
When Admiral Gillcrist (Ret) was flying Tomcats on the transition from F-14 to the F-18E/F SuperHornets, I'll never forget his quip; "I felt sorry for the Hornet drivers - We out flew 'em, we out fought 'em, and we ran 'em outa gas!"

@@MrApache101 I've read that the main reason for the switch was that an F-14 takes 40 man-hours maintenance to keep it in the air one hour; the F-18E/F takes only 10 hours for one.

the only thing the F-14 can top the F-35 in is top speed and flat acceleration, nothing else, barely even payload. Top speed is such a useless metric these days anyway.

Cool vid..... I have tried making some vids in the DCS F-14 but the track playbacks are always way off . I have not figured out how a lot of these vids are being made with the track system for the F-14 being such a mess...
nope the whole replay system is the mess and they cant seem to fix it. one hand is flying the other is recording bro
Its all about your pc's memory capacity and your video card.
I was trying to figure out why it looked so weird when you were flying, then you did the closeup of the tails during that roll......this ain't no modern princess plane, you gotta use the rudder if you wanna be a good Tomcat jock!
