I've been watching the cane creek video about the New Tigon I quite fancy giving that a bash air and coil he said 30 psi max to help it not be as fast sounds interesting

Looks like my old Double Barrel air except with better knobs. That shock rides AMAZING. My old 130mm travel bike feels smoother than my new 145mm bike. I think this is partly because I can run the Cane Creek at 185 psi and the fox I have to pump up to an astonishing 300 psi on my fox.

Yeah, it feels identical to the double barrel, but better small bump

I'm trying to set up my double barrel. I blows through the travel too fast and doesn't feel supportive as much for jumps

@@RyhnoMight Sounds like you need more high speed compression damping

i've got that shock, the adjustments are such that once you dial in rebound and compression, there's really no need to move the dials. LSC is the only dial i ever touch, and only when riding on totally flat trails. the climb switch does anything i need for climbs to bombs.
so really, imho the dials are a gimmick that you'll never really adjust once dialed in.
secondly, only cane creek can do a re-build in my area.. nobody has the tools to do this, even in a huge city. so sending in for service to NC is about $100usd + shipping.
in contrast, fox/rockshox is around $75 locally.
im prolly gonna retire this one and replace with a Vivid.

As much as I loved my Helm, DBIL and Kitsuma coil, Rock Shox has absolutely knocked it out of the park with their Super Deluxe, Vivid, Lyrik and ZEB. All 4 of those i've also owned over the last 3 years and I prefer their ease of adjustment and performance. Cane Creek is no doubt great quality, and my experience with their service department was fantastic on the DBIL.

To your point on the Vivid. All I've heard is good things about it on the trail and YT reviews.
I even had a shop owner say that it rides like a coil.
I've always been a loyal Fox guy. I rented a DeVinci Sparton at the park, and it was set up RS coil rear and ZEB up front. I was blown away how smooth it was through everything, especially big hits. It's so much different than Fox in its own way.
I think going Vivid is the best bang for the buck.

I had a Helm, super nice. I also ride fox, dvo, and RS forks and shocks..the Kitsuma came on a frame I got so didn't know at the time what a pita it is to get serviced..
Really depends on the application, for example my fox 34 step cast out-performs the RS Sid, in my testing. The dvo diamond is so plush and responsive, it blows away my RS lyriks- I gotta try the vivid tho especially since it's going on an enduro bike (165 travel)

All this Vivid talk. A $400 Sun tour coil knocks all the shocks listed here out of the water

@OtterMTBtech kinda.. vivid isn't a coil so apples to oranges, yet I do agree, DVO is a suntour product, and my DVO jade X is magical

Did you add alot of LSR or HSR?

    • @OtterMTBtech
      @OtterMTBtech  10 месяцев назад

Dead slow rebound both of them. Allot of compression. The air spring is lively so I personally found the rebound hella slow

It is literally the same as the double barrel, poppy. Slow rebound high and low speed compression added it. How much do you weigh what bike?
Also same procedure as this shock to get good setup, the double barrel just has no clicks Fox Float X2 Beginners Guide
