First off, thank you very much for this video. This is the type of the video that is ACTUALLY useful, not those videos that talks about features only and call it a review.
Hope to see more of these types of testing videos.
OneTigris need to add damned snow snow skirts.
Also, they should do what they do best and make a clone of A-Frame poles. Basically just like the ones from SnowTrekker hot tent. For those who want to priortize strong wind strength.
Way it is,,, this tent is not safe in windy condition with hot stove running. Even more so due it being non-canvas.
Also, instead of a internal ridgeline loop, it should have some sort of vents on top peak which can dual purpose to pass through a ridgeline so that user can place this over it. I think that would improve overall strength as well, again during high winds.
Also, a youtuber who used to be in bed with OneTigris and also collaborated in designing this hot tent jumped shipped to be in with Pomoly bed have collaborated in a similar design hammock hot tent but using a canavas as well. Different name but something about the name feel similar, haha.

I just wonder how much better the Tegimen would do since it has snow skirts and the ability to use six poles (not included).

      @theH2experience  7 месяцев назад +1

That's a great question, I unfortunately do not have that one but it would probably do well staked out correctly with the 6 poles.

@@theH2experience yeah I'm in the process of deciding between the two tents. At first I was sold on this one but have jumped back and forth a few times. Your review has actually helped a lot and is one of the only useful reviews I've seen on either of these tents that isn't either just showing someone camping in it or a paid advertisement. I think I'll probably end up with the Tegimen.

@@TubeYou7 absolutely. not having a snow skirt on a "winter" shelter was a careless design.

I have this tent as well and agree with a lot of your points. I want to love it because of the size and there are not a lot of hammock hot tents on the market. But...
    1) The design is an issue. Almost, impossible to get a straight pitch on the ends or tight walls. There's a weird, non-symmetrical cut to both door ends and on the end with the stove, that cut causes both diagonal tension and vertical slack. I've duplicated this countless times. May be why there are no manufacturer pics of the stove end. No matter how I've pitched: trees, poles, trees AND poles. My only fix has been to place a hiking poll at an angle on the inside of tent and wedge the handle up against the back stove wall to push it out. It's just not cut right.
    2) Because of end wall design and lack of tight pitch, the thing is a wind sail. Have to monitor tent walls around stove and any objects with edges like a cot can cause wear on the wall after a wind fight.
    diagonal
    4) Def needs a snow skirt.
    5) Stakes worked ok for guy outs if I can hit ground, plus some dead man anchors. The ground pull outs require a more aggressive approach to staking. Not sure why they only give 14 stakes, anyway. Need that many plus for windy conditions. (Has 20 stake/guy out points)
    6) Stuff sack sucks.
    7) Was complaining about ridgeline points as well, but finally found them while I was trying to rig something.
Summary: Cool looking tent, great idea. Frustrating execution and needs some tweaks. It's designed to be a hot tent, so the walls/doors need a tailor to correct the cuts in order to use the stove with consistent confidence that the whole thing won't melt down. I'm going to keep at it though! Maybe buy the Tegimen too and see if the clean design is more effective. Long winded, I know, but if you're watching these vids it may be that you are struggling too.

I'd love to see a comparison of this versus the Tegimen.
The Tegimen has the options of using poles at all four corners although it does not come with poles. I feel like that would help with making the tent more sturdy. It also has no skirts.

You show how close the chimney gets to the cover flap. However, if you move your stove closer to the middle of the tent then the chimney will be angled away from that flap and provide a lot more clearance

I have the same tent and I kept it out for a week over Christmas in Minnesota. 45 mph winds and some snow. The tent pegs held in the frozen ground but I used two 40 cm titanium stakes with poles on the ends. Sod skirts would be great, as I needed the snow to keep drafts out. The stove jack location is not ideal. I think if it was larger I'd be less worried about melting the tent or I may try a 45 degree elbow off the stove to the chimney. Overall though I like the tent.

@@theH2experience I forgot, I also bought a replacement stove jack without a hole and cut my own so it is tight on the stovepipe. That helps keep the pipe away from the fabric as well. My stove has 6cm (2.36") diameter roll up titanium stove pipe and I found a corresponding 6cm 45 degree elbow in stainless steel. I'll post again if I buy it and try it out.

I enjoyed the time lapse of the storm. The tent held up well. You should check out the onetigers tegimen tent. It has the snow skirt and straight side with two stove jack options. May not hold up in heavy snow as well but it is very roomie and 4 season. I plan to follow you with more videos. Thank you

Imagine for a moment that this tent had an option for a lightweight simple internal frame for extra $$. One ridge pole and an "A" support at each end (extending from the peak to each bottom corner) all collapsible. The frame would be very similar to snowtrekker canvas tent frame, but it wouldn't have to be as robust due the lighter load/weight of nylon vs 7-10oz treated canvas. This would eliminate over HALF of the ridiculous amount of pegs (20!) and guy lines required to safely erect this tent in windy conditions, AND eliminate the need for two trees the right space apart. A lightweight wedge hot tent in rip-stop nylon (or taffeta)...game changer for winter and shoulder season camping/fishing/hunting.

@@theH2experience Thank you for that! I hope OneTigris will see this and hopefully consider investing in the r&d and offer this as an option. Fingers crossed!

Snowpeak makes some really nice steaks called the solid steak, they are steel and a bit heavy but if your not back packing that wouldn't be an issue. They are like 12 inches long

Amazon has cheap aluminum snow stakes that are a wide scoop design. It seems you’re in the south and don’t have consistent heavy snow. These stakes would be good only in what I see in this video by the end of the storm. Cheap and lightweight but you could use sticks in the forest especially a dead man anchor. Worth checking out.
