@DS-pe1wv Glad it was hlepful! Thanks for commenting, I appreciate it! The jewel wasn’t IPSC legal a year or so ago, but apparently now it is. Never had an RO clock me on it regardless. LOL.
That is going to be one killer looking S2 when you get done with her. Outstanding! Always love these close up gunsmithing videos, it's like my "zen" time. Thanks for another awesome presentation!
@frankmoralesiii6908 Bummer! If only they all were as easy as the Shadow 2. The ones with the firing pin block are a bit more complicated, but not too bad, nothing I would want to change at the range though.
@@CZFanGrrl - I had Cajun Gun Works add upgrades to my 97b back in 2018. They installed an extended firing pin. Got home from range and took firing pin out with difficulty because it broke. I ordered a new one. Thank God there was a person on youtube who showed a complete disassemble of the 97b. I just did not want to pay a $99 diagnostic fee to the local gunsmith.
Well thank you Fan Girl! I am intending to replace the hammer spring on my SP-01 with a 13 or 15 pounder and it seems the firing spring needs to go along with that change. Don't think I will need the extended firing pin though as I'm not reducing the hammer spring weight a lot from stock whatever the stock Hammer spring weight is? Maybe 18 pounds?
@Kim Morrison. You’re welcome. I’m not familiar with what’s going on with the SP-01, as far as I know it’s got a firing pin block, maybe? Or like the Shadow 2 it has a firing pin stop at the back? With a 13or 15 pounder you won’t need to reduce the firing pin. I put an 11.5# main spring in a very well worn in 85C and nothing more and it was setting off S&B primers which are super hard, same as CCI. So I think a lot of it going to depend on the gun, how smooth the action is. A 13# should set off everything as I’m pretty such #13 to #15 is stock in the Shadow 2. Give the 13# main spring a try first, then add a reduced power firing pin spring to the mix. Hope that helps! Thanks again!
@@CZFanGrrl yep I noticed right after I put in my comment that an SP-01 has a different slide than a shadow 2. Ive got to knock out a pin to access the firing pin and spring and the locking block spring. A bit more involved than yours but not too difficult. Thx!
@@kimmorrison9169 I've got a #11.5 hammer spring in my SP01 with the extended firing pin, I haven't found an ammo type that it won't 100% reliably set off. The EFP is a great addition to the SP01, the Shadow 2s don't seem to need them (from what I've heard they _shouldn't_ have them, for drop safety reasons), but the SP01 definitely needs one if you want reliability. Before the EFP I was light striking nearly once every magazine with a #13 spring.
Bonesaw McGar That’s the progressive 10# recoil spring through Cesar-Shop, as which is where I got the super soft firing pin spring from as well. I really like both! I have an 11# progressive coming from them as well. Thank you! I love those purple grips as well! Those are the short grips for use with the magwell, sold through www.cz-parts.com.
@luisvcool1 the only way the firing pin stop is going to fall out is if the firing pin and firing pin spring no longer hold it because it’s held on by spring tension. To remove it, you need to depress the firing pin and then slide the stop down over the pin and then make sure to block the pin from flying away on you as you release the stop. The only way the firing pin is going to lose enough tension is from a broken spring. DId you find the stop, the pin and the spring? If the spring isn’t broken then it might be too weak. Do you clean the firing pin channel when you do a thorough cleaning?
@@CZFanGrrl I disassembled the slide and saw that the firing pin was stuck - as in it went to far forward. I use the same "soft soft" spring you use. I tapped the firing pin back and removed the spring and firing pin from the channel. The channel did not look dirty but I cleaned it anyway. I then inspected the spring and did not see any coils broken. That spring has probably seen 3,000 rounds. I put everything back together and dry fired (with caps) a bit and things seem back to normal. I don't know what caused this malfunction. Thanks.
@luisvcool Did you also clean the tiny hole where the firing pin exits the slide and contacts the primer? This is often overlooked and if it becomes fouled, the pin might end up being captured by the fouling and not retract back into the firing pin channel. I have a very tiny cleaning bristle brush for cleaning this area. The amount of fouling depends on the ammunition you are shooting. I’m not sure how often or what the life span is on the spring, but 3000 rounds doesn’t seem like a lot. I have at least that much, if not more through mine. Check that exit hole! czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=52289.0
@mantellim5489 Good question. Typically the Shadow 2 is not an EDC type of pistol. It’s pretty heavy for that. It was built to be a competition pistol, that means the only time it’s chambered is when you’re on the firing line. The safety is not applied at that time either. Under competition circumstances I have never had an issue with the gun accidentally discharging.

Diamond studded hammer drops? Such decadence 😎👍
@Tomon8tor. Yes, can’t wait to see what the pistol “police” at the next IPSC Quaifier have to say about that! LOL! Thanks!!
Hey thanks for the info. That will definitely help me when I get my spring and my extended firing pin.
Bling bling gangsta
I wish it was that easy to remove firing pin on CZ 97B. It looks like the firing pin on my CZ97B broke today (8/1/2023) while at gun range

Why don't they have a firing lin block? Isn't that dangerous?
