- Truck and Trailer Tuesday!
Our newest dream trailer was purchased to haul two of our pieces of equipment at the same time; therefore, we needed a wider and longer trailer. We choose the BWise 28' power dovetail trailer with hydraulic jack (the Hyjacker). Tractor Time with Tim reveals why he ordered this trailer and how it fits the needs of our business.

Tim, Congrats on the new trailer. I have a landscape company and haul heavy equipment daily. I would honestly contact the DOT officer again and get some clarification. I have been to many checkpoints and watched them give large fines for what you are talking about. You are correct that you need to stay under the 26,001LB weight to stay away from CDL and DOT numbers. However, you are over loading the trailer if you load how you plan too. You need to stay within the weight limits of the trailer. If the trailer has a GVWR of 14,500 and weights 5,360lbs you only have 9,140 lbs of payload weight you an put on that trailer. Just because you can "shift" some of the weight to the truck does NOT count. You will be under CDL and DOT weights, but you WILL get a ticket for an over loaded trailer. They will look at the GVWR on the trailer and then how much each item weighs on the trailer. Just a friendly heads up that there might have been some miscommunication with the DOT officer. We haul and drive this equipment daily. Good Luck!!
Nope. They weigh the tandem axles of the trailer, and they weigh the truck axles separately.
Add a winch! That would make that nice trailer even more versatile! You never know when you need to haul a broke down (knock on wood) piece of equipment.
Your business sure has come a long way since I first subscribed.
Yes. It has. Thanks for sticking with us!
Yeah, at first I thought it was a Hobby thing, but now this is great!!! Can’t wait for the future
I was thinking the same thing. I can't remember how long I've been here, but there was only Johnny at that point. It's been fun to watch the journey.
Yeah, if my memory is correct I came along around the 15k mark.
i said to them they was Hollywood bound from the very first video, they are getting closer. lol. great trailer and video. thanks-TTWT
What you should look into is wiring the aux power into the trl battery so you get a little bit of juice while driving to the sights you working at
The aux power isn’t working on our F350. Not sure if it is a fuse or something else. Haven’t investigated!
@@TractorTimewithTim did you check it with key on or off. I think new vechicles have them set up for key on so you cant drain battery otherwise its a fuse under the hood since the trk is new
Your handheld trailer controller needs a magnet on the back so it doesn't fall of all the time lol..
Come to think of it, it might have one!
@@TractorTimewithTim Hey Tim...how about a wireless remote with a couple of key fobs? I'll send one out tomorrow. Thanks for sharing our BWise Trailers deck over and hydraulic dove with your followers!
Thanks Dave! Received the wireless remote today! We'll have to find some time to install it!
Super glue a magnet on the back of the controller. That way it'll stay wherever you put it.
These BWise trailers are awesome. I have a BriMar dump trailer that I purchased in 2003 because I was seeing that if I was going to continue heating my house with wood I needed to get some hydraulics involved as my son was going to be off to college in a few years besides the fact that unloading wood from a non dumping trailer is as much work as loading. I have been using a carryall 3pt attachment on my Kubota BX2200 to load logs into my trailer (unfortunately at the time I purchased my tractor I didn't get a bucket mainly due to having nowhere to store it when not being used). But as I'm getting order I think I'm going to need some hydraulics for both the front jack & tail gate. Thanks for showing these products. The guidance for tie downs has been valuable.
Very nice trailer!
What u gotta remember is that these guys look at every notification they get and respond to every comment and like every comment, on new and even year old videos, and with how many people are subscribed it must be a hard job, thanks ttwt
Thanks for the kind words!
Really nice trailer. I love that beaver tail. I get tired of flipping my heavy ramps over. Those twin hydraulic jacks are nice too!
A powered dovetail is so nice! It will save your health in the long run. I wore my back out manhandling those heavy ramps for years. Now I’m bolted together with titanium rods and screws. Your back salutes you sir!
TimRun your chain through the stack pocket and back to the top of the stack pocket. It will not come loose if you hit bumps or load shifting. I've been pulling equipment for years and this little detail will save you in the long run. Also make sure you grease the pivot pins in your dovetail, also make sure your electrical wiring stays protected as your trailer gets some miles on it.
Lots of luck guys! Looks awesome! Why wouldn’t you need another trailer ??? That’s the question.
I love how your able to stay right under cdl . Our equipment is just over the threshold and it's a pain .
I dont have to worry for my rig as im solely private. But im over as how tim says since my trk is 11k gvwr and trl is 18k gvwr but i only wiegh 22k
Farm tag it. Noone would give a crap then..
Congratulations on the new trailer, It looks like a fine piece of equipment. It's nice to see all your hard work is allowing you to expand your equipment which will in turn give you the ability to do more projects for folks which will result in more videos, more views, and more growth for the channel which of course will allow for more equipment to be added which will enable more projects... Its a wonderful vicious cycle.
Seeing the way you two love each other is a great early birthday present from y'all to me
Wow. Happy Birthday, John!
Thank y'all for taking the time to make great videos and sharing your experience with us
Glad to get a trailer like this! Love your family's good humor and your honoring God! Thanks for super-fun videos.
Thanks for the encouragement, Allen!
If you drop the hook through the pocket, go down, pull it up the outside of the pocket between the rub-rail and frame and hook it in the top of the pocket it will stay hooked.
Exactly what I've seen done and have found to be very effective. It is convenient and a nice safety feature because the hook simply doesn't unhook on it's own even if the chain goes slack. The killjoy would be if the throat of his hooks are not big enough to slip over the stake pocket steel.
Very nice trailer Tim & Christi. Looks very useful.
Those BWise trailers are very appealing. They look great and seem to have all the best features.
The finish on the new trailer is extremely nice! Great looking unit👍
Forgot to mention the paint. It is called ‘Hammertone Gray’. That provides the nice textured finish
It’s a great looking finish. Is it paint or powder coat?
Congratulations Tim, you did great buying it! You might consider changing your name to Equipment Time with Tim. Thanks Christy for the new trailer! 😀
Trailer gvwr minus trailer empty weight equals payload capacity.
14500-5300 (approx) =9200 pounds of cargo.
Ah, but by moving the load forward on the trailer, much weight is transferred to the truck axles
Having hydro or electric jacks are so awesome
Beauty trailer.
Hi Tim
I purchased 4 stake bed inserts for My trailer from a local trailer/trailer supply company called Champion Trailers on Adamo dr in Tampa Florida.
They were about $30 each, and they can be moved to any trailer pocket and have a really heavy duty large ring.
Ken
Fantastic presentation of a great product. I didn't really know what I was looking for when I bought my car hauler. It suits me pretty well, but I have found a few shortcomings. Your new deck-over checks ALL the boxes. Looks like a purchase you will not regret. Like they say, buy once, cry once...
The weight rating is for straight line pull any angle will reduce the capacity. As a loadmaster on c-130 we would use 75% so a 10k chain was only counted as 7500lbs
DOT allows ‘half’. However, they say that you only need straps sufficient to hold half the load. So, to simplify, you can simply add WLL together and that becomes the max load you can carry.
Now that is one nice looking trailer. I agree that you need to stay under 26 000 lbs. Having to have a D.O.T. number is a real pain in the butt. I had one and I would get bills from states that I never traveled to. Annual fees. Ya right more like "Hey where is our cut of your action" fee. Good luck with the trailer guys. It will make life so much easier loading and unloading equipment.
Farm tag it. No DOT required in Texas if you do that. Other states should be similar.
Tim, have you consider dropping the chain hook through the stake pocket, then attaching the hook to the top of the stake pocket? I find the hook is less likely to bounce loose rather than when the hook is attached to the chain. Gravity helps hold the chain hook in place. Nice looking trailer. I'm envious!
I have seen stake Pockets Bend or get the weld ripped from them when using only one side of the pocket as an anchor plus that puts a lot of strain on the link of chain that is right on the bottom wrapping around so what I do is go down the outside of the stake pocket underneath and up the other side of the stake pocket all on the outside that provides strength by utilizing both sides of the pocket and the welds and reduces the stress on the chain by not having such a tight corner to make.
Nice trailer! The power dovetail is a great feature! The cargo buckles are handy!
I love my 36' diamond c 12 ton with hyd dovetail and Jack's along with wireless remote. Best money I've spent
Hope you have CDL and your truck is USDOT registered.
@@TractorTimewithTim farm tags. Makes me exempt here in nc. I've crossed scales weighing up to 47500 with no issues
It’s always a very pleasant and relaxing experience watching your videos
Nice trailer. Love the channel. I just purchased a 25' goose trailer. 20' deck, 5' dovetail with flip over monster ramps. I loaded by 4052r with an MX6 mower and it takes the entire trailer.
I bought a Load Trail trailer with the hydraulic tail on it. I love it! Also, if you have the wiring set up correctly to the truck, it will charge the system on the trailer automatically when you plug it into the truck while traveling down the road. At least mine is that way...
I think there is a problem in the truck. Not sure...tester does not indicate power on that ‘aux’ line.
Tractor Time with Tim on my f250 I had to add a relay in the fuse box and a fuse to have aux power to my trailers. It’s all factory wired. Just had to plug in a relay and fuse. I think the owners manual describes it.
You should wrap chain around the entire stake pocket instead of through the hole. It gives you twice the weld to hold load and distributes weight to all four corners of the pocket instead of two on one side. I used to drive for TMC flatbed and our security requirements was 1.5 times what DOT required.
Tim my 32 foot (in total length) trailer with a five foot beaver tail has round rods to wrap chains around in between every stake pocket, those rods are welded to the rub rail and the trailer at either end
Just order my isotunes will be getting them in 2 days can't wait to use them with the tractor!
Just had a ‘photo shoot’ with isotunes yesterday. We’ll see what comes of that. Worst case, you’ll know if my ears are clean!!!
Tractor Time with Tim have you used them on a plane? I’m curious how they do on a plane.
nice set up Tim that's the way to go
I'm so happy for you two
congrats on finding bwise, welcome to the good stuff that comes out of pa
You're not short Christy, just vertically challenged like Kat! Run for the shade Christy! I would too. Over 90 degrees and I say; "stick a fork in me, I'm done!"
Exceptional trailer. I believe with the expansion of TTWT you will keep the green dump. Good luck
Yes, the green dump stays.
In the past couple weeks, the PA State Police DOT cop has had dually pickups pulled over that were carrying custom food trailers over for inspection. The trailers are enclosed and with a stainless steel ventilator on top, so I assume they are food prep trailers that might go around to local fairs and what not. They are really cracking down on commercial trucking here in PA. So, many wrecks on the Interstate recently. Be safe out there on the highway. BTW, your trailer ramp reminds me of the USAF C-5 Galaxy cargo plane that I road in while in the Air Force. It looks very well engineered.
adding pipe spools in between stake pockets also add more securement places
They make d-rings that slide into the stake pockets, look them up!
they are phenomenal, partner with etrailer, maybe they’ll hook ya up!
Nice trailer. I would like to suggest that you wrap your chain around the stake pocket and back to the chain. Doing it that way you will have the full support of the welded pocket not just one side.
"Eat less cheeseburgers" says the finance committee... probably some very wise words, but heresy I tell ya, heresy !! - in all seriousness, love your videos and love how the Lord is leading, guiding and blessing you !!
Thanks! Yes, God has blessed. We hope we are using his resources in the way he wants!
Christy, try a tiltbed deckover. The first time is a little nerve wracking. But after several times it gets easy.
Hey thanks for the breakdown on the truck and trailer weights (best on youtube)! I had to go back and watch your series with trooper hoover to confirm a few things as I'm planning to buy some new equipment soon. Thank you for all the quality content ! Strong work!
Thinking ya's have a very nice trailer for your operations... thumbs up!
Put a solar panel on it to keep the battery charged. I put a magnet on the back of my remote so I can just stick it to the side of my trailer when needed.
You could fabricate a short metal stake with a shackle on one end as anchor points for the strap.
That’s a very nice trailer!
Nice trailer tim and kristie and now you can move everything ,good choice 👍👍
I loved all yhe trooper Hoover videos and learned quite a bit. 👍🏽🙂
Beautiful new 'lil red wagon' Tim and Christy!
something for you to look into. Does B-Wise have a rating for their stake pockets> you also need to take that into the factor when securing to them. I know Utility, Mac, Retenar and Transcraft state that stake pockets are not to be used for securment, instead they have spools in their rub rail for securment.
Makes it look with the black wood on yhe ramp. Also if 5f it gets stolen it may be an extra identifier for the trailer
Nice Trailer Tim now you can definitely get some work done
Look up Mansfield bumper. It's named after Jane Mansfield and the wreck that killed her. Her daughter who was in the wreck is the actress on suv special victims TV show. Scare on her chin is from the wreck.. It regulates the DOT height. Fyi
Great video guys
Great video and trailer. Would love to see a video on how you tie down all your loads and what to use for each application.
Jason, we have several truck and trailer Tuesday episodes showing the various tie downs that we use.
Really nice trailer, Christy and Tim. I like the dovetail ramps that wider. Have a fine week. Enjoyed a full watch.
Nice
I bought some "knock-off" version of the cargo buckles at Rural King. Small ones did great, but the larger ones like Tim is displaying in the video are absolute garbage. They won't tighten up without slipping. They came lose when hauling my 8n Ford tractor. Just a warning to everyone that the Rural King versions are junk.
Interesting. I was wondering about trying the knock offs. However, the cargobuckles work so well that we have decided to stay with them!
Congratulations on the new trailer, that was an awesome purchase. As other have stated your you tube page has come a long ways, certainly enjoyed all of them and great work.
Thanks for the encouraging words, Chris!
That rear bumper is called an ICC bumper, required after the accident that took the life of Jayne Mansfield.
Have you thought about replacing pick up box with flat bed? Maybe sell smaller trailer?
Yes. Seriously considered. ...but it would be heavier, and we cannot afford the extra weight
Nice trailer!!! Hope to see it in action soon. You keep buying equipment your sheds not going to be big enough LOL
Very nice looking trailer. Looks like a wise investment for you guys with all the work you do.
Mount a solar powered battery charger/maintainer to the trailer.
That load of plywood is worth more than the truck and trailer now days
The trailer appears to be high quality. I would love to own one myself.
Hi Tim and Christy that is a very nice trailer i wish you the best of luck with it
Time to hire a staff to run all that equipment! :)
💥 That's a great trailer Tim but I'll tell you what's even better. The support you have from your WONDERFUL WIFE CHRISTY. She's got to be just an amazing person to support your passion for tractors, she's an awesome videographer, she keep the finance committee in order and has the patience of a saint standing beside you in all your crazy tractor adventures. The fact that she's also embraced it and takes part in all the fun is really amazing! You're a blessed man Tim!
Keep on tractoring and God bless.
Thanks Jon. You are absolutely correct.
Tim the stake pockets gives you the ability to haul logs if you need to
He He I was thinking about cheeseburger then you say something about cheeseburgers 😀😀that made me laugh. Tim you should show this this trailer to trooper Hover and show the video to us
Nice trailer, don't know if it would work. But you might get ya a little solar panel and mount on the tongue to keep your battery up.
I like this idea.
I'm watching this a year after you posted it. Just think of what that OSB is worth today, probably near triple the price.
That is a NICE trailer Tim! Congratulations!
Really nice trailer i like the design of all gooseneck trailers
It's a nice trailer and your right trailers are high priced
Tim I love b-wise there nice
Darn it. I bought my b wise gooseneck dump after you video at the show, was actually hoping to see mine being built while you were on the factory tour. I love it but have ran into the same issue with space. It's a pain to take my bobcat, grapple, bucket and anything else. Even my bx24 with loader and brush hog is longer than 18'. I've been looking for a 14k gooseneck because of the gvw on my truck too, guess I have to put in another order with b wise too! Thanks for the review!
Great video. I appreciate all the thought and detail you provide.
nice gooseneck. fun fact the longer and bigger the trailer is the easier they are to back up and tow.its way easier to back a 53-foot trailer than a 4x8. the D.O.T bar came about cause too many ppl rear-ending trailers and removing their head. The D.O.T. bar does need to be a certain distance from the ground to hit regular vehicles in the grill area, instead of going under the trailer or even your big trucks like dumpsters trucks we call roll-off trucks need them too. if you will a rear bumper for vehicles who don't have them. one reason vehicle manufacturers needed to include the rear bumper in the sale of a pick-up truck I've been alive for 46 years and I know three ppl who got decapitated. and one was our math teachers husband p.s. I hope that ford has enough to pull that trailer. lol
Great video
Tim can give me the website for the new grease gun. thank you
Lube-shuttle.us/store
Another awesome video .. Thanks Tim and Christy ...
Wow glad to see y’all doing well. This channel sure has grown since I first started flowing y’all congratulations on the new trailer maybe in five years we will be seeing a semi trailer flatbed 😆 👍👍👍👍👍
Oh my! Not sure we want to get into the larger equipment.
Lol 😆
That is a pretty sweet trailer!!
we run a power line from the truck ..no weak trailor batterys
Beautiful Trailer!
Your a blessed man...not sure what my “Finance” partner would say🤔😎
I’ve been looking at trailers lately. Looked at everything from “landscape” trailers with a gate, to tip trailers, and flat bed trailers with ramps. Everything at least 16’ with two axles. Thinking a tip trailer or landscape trailer with a gate but haven’t bought anything yet.
Had one salesman tell me it would be ok to go with a single axle trailer 14’ long to haul my 1025R. I didn’t like the thought of 14’ or single axle. He claimed they hauled their Kubota BX tractor on it all the time no problem.
We did an episode describing the diffeeent trailer types. I don’t like the landscape trailers because of the permanent sides.
Fined the closest truck stop with a cat scale
It will also help in showing you were to distribute the load weight
You have awesome tools/toys
If those ramps ever hit you when they are swinging, there goes you knee.
Ifs and buts...
Here I am worried about you, thought I was pointing out a potential danger and you are just sarcastic. Good Luck , God Bless
So, I have a name suggestion. "Leave it to Beaver" or "The Beav" for short. Because with that beaver tail and other capacity, that trailer can get you into all sorts of mischief. :)
Oh my! I like it!
Once again a superb and informative video. Having been watching your videos from the beginning, I must say that you have definitely come a long way!!
Thanks for sticking with us, Tim! Appreciate your encouraging comments!
It is hard to believe that it has been ten years!!
Another good video Tim, Congratulations on the new trailer.
