Mexico has been given a bad rap which prevented me when I was a young man from visiting that beautiful country with such humble and kind people. I spent a month there when I turned 50. Loved it. It has probably changed quite a lot since then. WOw it has changed so much! for the better! Would love to go back

Back in 2017 I considered living in PM, sight unseen. It does look really nice. I never got there but traveled around and then settled in CDMX, which I loved, for two years.

Hey Guys, Jim and I met you in Valladolid, last March while we were all waiting for a non-existent Video to play! Sorry you are moving but happy for you both! Loved seeing your take on Puerto Morelos, because I actually bought a condo there in May ( not built, quite yet!) I'll be living there part time and the rest of the time in my home in DC. I'm very excited. I will be around the corner from Layla's , which has awesome empanadas! There is also a great English book store in the town and a locals market on Wednesday. I considered Merida and also Valladolid, both awesome places. Decided to grow old in PM because of it's beach vibe and ease of getting there. Wish me luck!
Happy to see you made it to our sleepy fishing town. We love it here, not into the busy crowded towns like cancun and playa del Carmen. Only 20 minutes from cancun Airport. We love love it. We live in the colonial area, gated community Selva Escondida where you can find rentals for 400 usd and up with great amenities and workable WiFi. Next time you are in town you need to try the vegan lasagna at MEM AL MARE right behind Chedurai 😋

I just got back from Puerto Morelos and watched your video several times before arriving. It's so nice to re-watch and reminisce on this adorable town! To the right of the juice bar (10:32 point in this video), there is lovely abuelita that sells tacos from a basket, cannot recommend enough!

If you haven’t already you should visit Akumal next time you head to PdC or Tulum. My partner and I also recently stayed in Espita for a couple days at the beautiful Casona Los Cedros and highly recommend it for an amazing weekend away. Love watching your videos.

I loved Puerto Morelos and the restaurant strip. I was there about four years ago, looks like it has changed a lot since but looks like for the better. You can pronounce Chedraui, WAHOO!! 😅 Chedwowie, good one! I'm quite sure that coaster at 11:48 was made of sisal, I have four and love them. I think it's great that you left the puerto and visited the puebla. PM has changed a LOT since I was there! I have a funny story about my transportation to PM from Tulum, remind me to tell you at our next meet-up - Anne

On a different note, I'm currently in Madrid but want to be able to spend winter months freely in Mexico, and today the Mexican Consulate in Madrid approved me for Temporary Residency. Part Two of the process will continue once I arrive into Querétaro at the end of March. I'm so psyched!

Puerto Morelos looks amazing. I hope to see it in person someday. I first became aware of it on another Mexican travel channel. The couple was based there during 2020 with very limited travel due to the pandemic, of course. They generally seemed to love it there, but said they would not stay there again year round due to the heat and humidity in the summer. On a different note, I've been snorkeling at Garrafon on Isla Mujeres years ago and remember copious amounts of beautiful, colorful fish. So, I would expect along with reefs, you might see some similarly stunning fish when you finally get a chance to snorkel in PM.
Hi David & Travis!! just grabbed my membership. I have been following your channel for over a year now and I love your adventures. I lived in Playa Del Carmen 4 years ago and now arriving in Merida to live on May 8th, 2022. I did however just get a house/pet sitting invitation there in Puerto Morelos that will be from late May until August. The owner is going back to Canada to help a friend out with a hotel opening. We have been in Puerto Morelos since 3/2/2021 and call it home just finished our temporary residency visa in USA need to finish the 2nd part at the INM Cancun this month
Summer here is 85-90 degrees humidity in the 80s but you have the beach and AC beach clubs where you pay 1200 pesos for a bed and 800 pesos of the 1200 is credited back to use for food and drinks
I just subscribed and see you settled in Merida. Can you do a comparison video sometime of the two? Curious if you could you see yourselves settling down in this smaller town? My heart is with Mayan Riviera bc of the bounty of green + rainforest. It’s too dry, less green in other coastal areas of Mexico for me, i just loove the trees everywhere on the coast here 💜

Yeah I adhere to an almost 100% Carnivore way of life but seriously I love you guys (and I'm as straight as an arrow!) and your top-notch presentation here on my town (yeah it's mine!); which I will be visiting for a 4th time in under 2 years come June. Correction to your video--10 peso is the collectivo inside Puerto Morelos. They have route 1 and route 2 and both make a circle on the beach area and then a larger one in La Colonia. Collectivo to Playa Del Carmen is 30 peso, but for those that do not know collectivos are for a small place to sit. Many are bench seating for short distance, some seats, but NO ROOM for baggage , or large purchases. You can carry a daypack is about all. PDC taxi is usually 600 peso now which you can bring baggage of course as you have the whole cab. If your coming FROM Cancun airport direct book a shuttle company online. Prices vary depending on time, season, and how many people. Just google cancun to Puerto Morelos transfers. There are 15-20 companies. Going back any cab will take you for 500 peso for the whole cab, or many know who will do it for 400 but they only can drop there, never pick up. Have to use an airport approved for leaving the airport.
And the "Playa Express" goes from Cancun beside the ADO to PDC. I have taken it many times between PM and Cancun. 30 pesos per person from Cancun to PM. There is a good size baggage compartment in the back which can handle full-size suitcases.
Depends what you’re looking for! Bigger like PV, or super touristy like Playa or smaller like Puerto Morelos or Sayulita. And there’s a ton we haven’t been to yet like Mazatlán 🤷♂️ Our favorite (so far) was Puerto Morelos, but that’s just us!

Hey Tai - thanks so much for the support! As for Airbnb vs. Hotel, it just depends on what you’re looking for, how long you’ll be in Merida, your budget, etc. We mostly opt for airbnbs when we travel because we cook at lot (when we’re not filming places to eat) and that saves us $$, but there are some super cute and charming hotels in Merida, so if you’re not wanting to have a whole house/apt to yourself, then there are some great options. Hope that helps and you have a great trip!

For us, it’s Puerto Morelos hands down. Totally different vibe than Tulum (which we also loved) but this place stole our hearts

Correction to your video--10 peso is the collectivo inside Puerto Morelos. They have route 1 and route 2 and both make a circle on the beach area and then a larger one in La Colonia. Collectivo to Playa Del Carmen is 30 peso, but for those that do not know collectivos are for a small place to sit. Many are bench seating for short distance, some seats, but NO ROOM for baggage , or large purchases. You can carry a daypack is about all. PDC taxi is usually 600 peso now which you can bring baggage of course as you have the whole cab. If your coming FROM Cancun airport direct book a shuttle company online. Prices vary depending on time, season, and how many people. Just google cancun to Puerto Morelos transfers. There are 15-20 companies. Going back any cab will take you for 500 peso for the whole cab, or many know who will do it for 400 but they only can drop there, never pick up. Have to use an airport approved for leaving the airport.

And the "Playa Express" goes from Cancun beside the ADO to PDC. I have taken it many times between PM and Cancun. 30 pesos per person from Cancun to PM. There is a good size baggage compartment in the back which can handle full-size suitcases.

I recommend San Pancho, on the Pacific side of Mexico. Way better than this place.

Depends what you’re looking for! Bigger like PV, or super touristy like Playa or smaller like Puerto Morelos or Sayulita. And there’s a ton we haven’t been to yet like Mazatlán 🤷♂️ Our favorite (so far) was Puerto Morelos, but that’s just us!

Hi David and Travis we’ve been subscribed to your channel for a while, in fact we went to Playa Del Carmen for Dental bc of you two. We’re planning a trip to Meredia in April and would like to know do you think a hotel or an air bnb is the way to?
Hey Tai - thanks so much for the support! As for Airbnb vs. Hotel, it just depends on what you’re looking for, how long you’ll be in Merida, your budget, etc. We mostly opt for airbnbs when we travel because we cook at lot (when we’re not filming places to eat) and that saves us $$, but there are some super cute and charming hotels in Merida, so if you’re not wanting to have a whole house/apt to yourself, then there are some great options. Hope that helps and you have a great trip!
