Excel: How to Stop Columns Automatically Resizing in a Pivot Table

  • One of the annoyances with Excel pivot tables is that if you’ve manually set the widths of the columns within the pivot table, when you refresh or sort or filter the pivot table, the column widths are automatically resized.

    many thanks, that helps a lot!
    Through "File -> Options -> Data -> Edit Default Layout" and then following the steps in the video you can disable the autoresize option for all pivot tables.

    doesnt work in my excel pivot for PC. is there another setting I need to update?

      @christinabirmingham2087 No other setting needed. Are you using Excel on Windows? What steps are you taking to do this? Where is it failing?
