    Great video, many thanks. I have been looking at this camera but one of my key concerns is how easy is to see the ZV-E1 screen in bright light?

    Great video man. I’m on the fence of upgrading and buying the bullet. I have an a7iii that has been amazing but I want that next step up for B-Roll and food cinematography.

      Glad you enjoyed; yeah I don't think you'll be disappointed. The a7iii is still a solid camera though!

    Appreciate the review! I've been debating on investing in this camera for some time now. Everyone keeps talking about the overheating issue and I get it, but I feel for me it wouldn't be too much of an issue since I do 80% run and gun shooting. But I do want a camera I can depend on. I just love that you can get the same picture as the FX3, but for a much smaller price.

    • @NickKendall
      @NickKendall  5 месяцев назад

      I think for run and gun I think you'd be fine unless you live in a really hot climate. I've never had a single issue with overheating while shooting B roll even for extended sessions of like 2+ hours.

      Are you invest in your main camera. In My opnion you already spend over $2000, better just spend more to get the most reliable one as your main camera. For B or C camera, it is fine.

    Just got the zv-e10 to go alongside my A7iv and couldn’t be happier. Beware of Sonys new firmware updates now I get constant warnings when using a 3rd party camera batteries.

      @@NickKendall Yeah it’s great for video my only issue so far is the terrible rolling shutter but everything else has been incredible! Yeah I’d just check with each camera before updating. There are a lot of people that are angry with Sony that have the A7iv at the moment

    For narrative or interviews or anything you can repeat, this camera is amazing. If you can’t miss your take, better an FX30 (for that budget in Sony).

    Do you recommend the ZV-E1 or the Lumix S5II ?

    • @samimqazi4270
      @samimqazi4270 2 месяца назад

      i got both and i would say if u r not into HIGH ISO and Super Slow Mo ... then Go for Lumix S5II ....Lumix can still give u ISO 4000 for 2nd Clean ISO and it gives 4K 60fps and its not bad ...no over heating ... and its solid ...dynamic range is amazing on Lumix S5

    the sony ZV-E1 also seem to suffer from thermal noise as well. Even though it has the same sensor as the A7S 3, after using it for an extended period of time the sensor becomes noisy due to heating.

    Worst thing is hot pixels that form, seen in very dark light, high ISO. Seems to be heat induced. Goes away on pixel mapping but they do regularly crop up.

    I don’t understand the love for flip out screens. I use the strap on my neck for stabilization and the flip out on the side of the camera is absurd while tilting screen works perfectly for most cases when I hold my camera lower and the screen pops upwards.

    • @NickKendall
      @NickKendall  5 месяцев назад

      I guess it depend on use case :) It's very handy for me when shooting with a multi camera setup and I need to see my preview while attending to another camera. Great point though about using the strap for stabilisation! I should do that more!!

    Sony ZV-E1
    Hello can you please answer my 3 question I would be grateful.
    1: at 4k 120 FPS or FHD 240 FPS which stabilizer can you activate? E.g. you can activate the speech stabilizer.
    2: Does focus training work at 120 FPS and 240 FPS?
    3: at low light is the same as FX3 and A7siii?

    • @NickKendall
      @NickKendall  Месяц назад

      Hi there,
      1: There is a footage stabiliser to reduce camera shake which can be activated in any video mode.
      2: I'm not sure what you mean by focus training? Do you mean auto focus? If so, yes it still works at those frame rates.
      3. Yes, it's the same in low light as the FX3 and A7siii :)

    Thanks for sharing. I plan to buy an E1 and use it for my Southeast Asia trip with an average temperature of 30-35C (86-95F). Max video duration at 20 minutes. Should I buy E1 or FX30?

    • @NickKendall
      @NickKendall  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hmm great question. I'd say there is a chance it might overheat in those temperatures. Have you found any other videos talking about how it performs in that kind of heat? The FX30 has a fan so yeah, might be the more reliable choice. I suppose it comes to do how much you're willing to work with with the camera. I think for shorter clips you might be alright.

    Awesome review! Does your ZVE1 have a loose micro hdmi port? I’m not sure if this is normal because on some of Sony’s camera they have Floating structure hdmi port design to relieve stress/froce. My ZVE1 has a pretty loose port moving back/forth. Just wanted to ask if other owers have similar port.

    • @NickKendall
      @NickKendall  4 месяца назад

    Wow, the hot-shoe threw me. However, this camera truly looks great and seems like you've used it well to take quality videos. I really appreciate you showing the strengths and weaknesses of the camera. I am not sure when I may be in the market for a new camera, but I'm still rocking a DSLR which is an older model and past its prime. It wouldn't be useful for modern videos in my opinion. Of course, I don't really use it for videos anyway. I will have to take a look at this camera and the sensor it uses. I think most people are pretty familiar with Sony's often stellar sensors, but I am going to go look and check out some more details on the camera and how I could use it for casual hobby photography and videography or even potentially leverage it for something more. Awesome job with the video.

    • @NickKendall
      @NickKendall  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks! Yeah the hot shoe is an odd one!
      Could be worth checking out a second hand copy of an APSC Sony camera like an a6600. They are still incredible cameras and I'm sure you could get one for a decent price :)
