My Mom taught me to turn the pillow case inside out, put my hands inside and grab the corners and then grab the corners of the pillows and turn the pillow case right side out over the pillow. This ensures that the pillow is in the right place and on straight.
For my hospital corner, i tuck the foot end in, then diagonally lift the side up onto the bed, tuck the tail in, then fold the edge back down over the long side and tuck in the sides. Hard to explain but the sides help keep the corner nice because they’re tucked in after. ❤
Have you ever tried the rolling technique on the duvet? Very quick and easy to do! Inside out duvet cover on the bed first, duvet insert on top, duvet cover opening at the top of the bed, start rolling from the bottom (or I fold twice instead of rolling), grab corner and flip it inside out.
@@gocleanco Making the bed is definitely easier when you are 2 people. However I do the rolling by myself all the time and it works well. I do get my steps in. I wish more duvet makers would put in the ties. That is helpful for keeping the duvet more even. Thanks for this video.
I’ll be 45, you have no idea how much I needed this video , I always wondered about the flat sheet what side , and I agree with you on the pillow shams . They should teach this as a HS graduation requirement
Those hospital corners seem to be one of those things some people seem to have strong opinions on, but I am not one of them! Happy to have a decent looking bed regardless of which direction the corners go!
My mother was an Army nurse in WW2 - always tucked the lowest part first and then made the tuck towards the front of the bed - 45 degrees - never tucked in the sides.
Wow! Thank you so much! You've just solved my duvet in the cover issue!. I've also picked up a few other tips. Can't wait to try them and my bed will now look gorgeous!
I like to put my Edging of the Pillows on the inside ...especially the one that faces the door and you see it first !! The Hotel pillow cases have that piece of extra fabric that you can tuck in.
I learned to make a bed many many years ago from Martha Stewart and I stick to it today. I think she would probably approve of your approach!! Just started watching your channel and I find it very interesting!!
Hello Sarah. Just wondering if you could please make a video sometime on how to put the pillows in the pillow cases?? I have heard of people who hold the pillow under their chin and put the case on the pillow but have not seen that yet. Also just wondering where you got your pillows from. They look so comfortable to sleep on. I live in Burlington Ontario Canada. I just find it very fascinating to watch videos of people changing their bed sheets, don’t ask why it’s something that I live with.
Lol that's how my mother does them(the chin or in her mouth and shake shake shake) when I moved out and had a BF over at 19 years old he witnessed me doing this and was appalled! He proceeded to teach me by putting the pillow case inside out grabbing the corners and then grabbing the pillow corners and just flip it around the pillow sounds more complicated wish I could show you but it's simple
Seemingly you’re supposed to put the tagged corner on first ! Im not really sure if it works or im just getting stronger at putting on the bottom sheet !😅
For the duvet cover I usually turn to duvet cover inside out then put the duvet on top and roll it like a sausage then unroll from the bottom and ta! Da!
Why would you put pattren side of your sheet down? cause pattern side was printed for a reason otherwise should have been like lightly printed on both sides... isnt it?
It's pattern side down so when you fold the sheet over your duvet or comforter the pattern shows. But TBH printing on both sides makes so much more sense lol.
I leave the sides of the top sheet out because the quilt hides them and I don’t have to worry about it come bed time… I just tuck the corners at the foot. I also tossed out decorative pillows as a waste of time that takes up space. Just the regular pillows and two smaller decorative pillows, one hand sewn by my grandmother. I know how to “do it properly,” but I don’t care. I prefer comfortable and easy while still being appealing. I have a bed blanket-a knitted one that stays on top sometimes when sleeping, but the purpose of it was originally to nap if you weren’t ready for bed.
You are making the hospital corners wrong... The fold is supposed to be underneath not on top... I learned from my stepmother who was a nurse in the army
I'm assuming that in your country you use duvet covers (?!)... They aren't big and rarely even known of is bc of the stores etc. A big part of that reason where most people in the US buy their bedding pre Amazon in big department stores like BBB &Macy's , malls, they typically show a fully designed bed (what comforter with what throw blanket and pillows etc) and those beds are made with comforters.. Can't really show a duvet in plain white etc as a style to add etc in a sense. Comforters are basically a duvet insert but with the cover .. design (usually with thick piping on the edges) already attached/ sewn on it. It's a big, thicker, sometimes even heavy fabric like cross stitching with fill I. E. Cotton, etc NOT down. They also have what's called "bed in a bag " which were well liked and purchased during a particular decade and that has stuck with some I e my mother. It included the sheets, pillow cases, pillow shams, bed skirt and if you were lucky sometimes a throw pillow decorative pillow. No thinking, everything matched and at a good price. Many are also cheaper (vs buying a quality, down duvet that is literally an investment in the hundreds of dollars vs comforter) people that aren't aware of the duvet cover think, "I don't want white..."... "I want this pattern" .. ".. matching my sheets/ bedroom..." etc etc not knowing how much better and versatile a duvet cover is and there's a bunch of different ones to choose from! So with that in mind 😂: A comforter (that doesn't use a duvet cover) doesn't need to be washed as often. I've known people that have gone years without 🤮 even your average 2x a year is horrible for people like me with pets that sleep in bed. Also, most washers aren't big enough so you must go to the dry cleaners and use an industrial machine or (and some say you must) get it dry cleaned. To protect your comforter YOU USE A TOP SHEET! which is basically one size of a duvet cover lol! As a matter of fact, over the years, I've been noticing that hotels are not using duvet covers (imagine the time) they use 2 top sheets. One on the bottom and the other on top and then the duvet is sandwiched in between the two. Also, besides time saving it's perfect for hygiene and they just have to buy more top sheets lol trying to think if I missed anything hehe
You're probably wondering why she's using a upper / top sheet even though she's using a duvet cover? I can't tell you personally why she does but, i literally did that and once in a while still do because, I'm so used to having a comforter (as described btw our household would have a linen closet full of them.. One time there were 9! Now thinking about that hmmm i also thought usually in Europe vs the US there are a lack of closets and/or smaller living homes etc.People usually use armoires and closet space is such a luxury! I was struggling so bad with making my bed I watch the like 40 seconds video but you're helping so much I used one of my unicorn and I use my unicorn glow in the dark Street well blanket and a girl from the dark I put it on for a bed sheet like over the real sea get yourself a lot I love that you're really good at making beds because I could have done nothing without you because you're the best little little little little little girl I've ever had help me with a bed and my whole life I love that your hair my friends and I are here so I got to go my friend tenaya is here so I got to hurry up so I love you I'm going to hurry up your show quick❤
Pretty complicate. I put on the fitted sheet, the top sheet and the blanket. I fold the top of the sheet over the blanket. Then I do my tucking at the foot of the bed and the hospital corners. I do not tuck in the sides, that's not comfortable. Next is the quilt bedspread and then pillow in the sham and placed on the bed.
The top sheet is what you sleep under, this way you only need to wash your sheets 1-2 weeks. You blanket, or duvet , comforter etc sits on the sheet when you sleep, this way it doesn't touch your skin, hence get dirty. You only need to wash your entire bedding, plus mattress etc...every 2-3 months.
Never heard of a duvet? but show an old single guy how in the world to fold a fitted sheet by yourself! rolling into a ball and stuffing in the closet really wrinkles them up.
I cannot look away; a more engrossing domestic duty has never before been filmed. Content watched: Check! Techniques utilized at my home: TBD. #shelikestowatch Hello from SK.

Wow. I was so into this. Beautiful bed. When i was 8 my dad taught me army corners on my sheets. Nickel had to bounce on top. Thanks Sarah. 🎉
Same here! Haha
Yes I was 8 years old myself when I learned how to do hospital corners
This is exactly how my wonderful born in 1920s grandmother taught me. She only did the single roll of the sheets but everything else is the same. 👏🏼👏🏼

You tube has done great videos for folding fitted sheets
The audio isn't good. something isn't right. figure it out. sounds out of phase. and far away. try using a lapel mic.
Totally too long to make the bed…
No pillow protectors? tsk…tsk…tsk
You made a beautiful bed but that's way too much work just to hop in it and go to sleep. No disrespect honey.✌️❤️
Why do Arab women don't want to watch this video 😢😢
I hate duvet covers
Who doesn’t know how to make a bed?!
Wrong vibe dude.

Someone recently asked me what hospital corners were😮
Are they cotton or bamboo? I bought Cozy Earth bamboo and they wrinkle and look terrible. I’m returning the whole set.
