They're coincidental not coaxial. being point source they should have amazing time/phase alignment, far better than a tweet up in the a pillars. less processing needed. Those Uni-Q drivers are really good.

Yes I’m home hifi it works very very well. Not at all in car audio

@@CambridgeCarAudio Is the after running of an aftermarket DSP amp? If so, I would have loved to hear what can be done using the OE kef speakers and the aftermarket amp.

@chriscuthbertson Yes, it would improve it but it has fundamental flaws that even a decent tune and DSp wouldn’t be able to fix.

This is very nice work with all the printed adapters and all

There is a reason for that Kef coaxial driver and it is one of the greatest designs in the industry.
It seems you don't know anything about Kef and the importance of a coherent sound from a point source system, since you didn't mention a word about that.
Also you didn't mention id the Kef drivers have the MAT absortion plates that their home audio speakers have.
Playing the same frequency from a small driver gets a wider dispersion and less directional sound than with a larger driver, but at the expense of a reduced output.
If it doesn't work in the Lotus, that's another story.
For hme audio, Kef is the most natural and neutral sounding brand with apeakera that are very trnsparent, but not fatiguing to the ears.
BTW, I really enjoy my Kef LS50 Meta moved by a Hegel H190 and my Kef KC62 sub.

Plenty of benefits to coaxial or full range drivers, but not in this application. You don't want high frequency playing at your feet, especially where you've got a more optimal location right there in the pillar. You want an HF driver capable of crossing over as low as possible (because even mids in the door panel is not optimal).

That is correct, it does work in home hifi very well, but it just does't work in car audio. with that placement, maybe in another location it would have done :)

      Correct :)

How hard is it to take door panels apart? And how much sound dampening did you do?

That question, is subject to the skill of the individual doing the work. 40 Sheets were used

I don't know why I'm surprised a high end home audio company made a below par sounding car system. From what I've heard even naim did a bad job in the new Bentleys

Correct, they get beaten down on price too much

I think the tweeter grills are there so customers think they are getting tweeters not knowing the tweeter is in the speakers itself

Yeah, manufacturers do it all the time

I think the tweeter grills are for the tweeters that will be fitted their in the (non Kef) base sound system.

@@CambridgeCarAudio I don't think Lotus is pulling a fast one here, it's just a single pillar design for different systems. When KEF came along they probably insisted on using the Uni-Q driver which frankly is not appropriate for the application, they should have designed for the car not fit the car to their brand's tech.
