I like how Kab's "How to VTuber" series is slowly just turning into "How to Adult." :)

Funnily enough I just got off of a lecture from school by a singer/songwriter that has worked with like Eminem and other huge creators and she basically said the same things, like there's a time and a place for like the swapping business cards networking hustle but just showing up and genuinely being interested in your peers and connecting as people first is by far always the best way to move in the entertainment industry lol

The internet is such a funny thing. A purple clad caffeinated cultist just gave me some of the best and most motivating advice I've ever heard. I appreciate you Kabhaal and I know I'm not the only one. Thanks for all you do (and thank you Szycrotic for editing).

It’s fun to just vibe with people and let that grow into a friendship on its own.

I saw this via your Twitter post ironically I've often fantasized about making a video like this if I ever got it together to make content. Its a thousand times more cathartic seeing you do it and I've enjoyed it greatly. I hope this reaches as many people as possible

yep. this is how i am doing it; having fun with other streamers. sure it sounds sleazy, but its better then begging for attention. i have been playing games with streamers because its more fun playing games with others who have a love of some of the same things as you. i also work to respect the rules they set up.

I feel like I've been hearing this from the wrong people for so long. Hearing "Appriciate yourself" now feels like being dunked in cold water.
Easily the best pep talk I've ever had. Mostly because it actually got through to me.

This rings so true for me. Some of the pals I've made I made in a single person's chat, or from venturing into some of their pals' streams. Or the people they raided. Funnily, a friend raided someone when I was in the chat, and it turns out he and the person we raided lived in the same region. The world is such a funny place sometimes.

I've only discovered yourself a week ago and i suspect this comment is rather unlikely to be seen by anyone but, i recently thought about content creating and streaming and in looking for inspiration i discovered yourself.

To me, "networking" is a term for finding people to *hire.* Twitter, for exmaple, is good for networking in that nearly every artist or editor I know about who takes comms, I learned about through twitter. As far as people I collab with etc... yeah that mostly came from just talking and finding that we had some of the same dependencies on the same games, or talking shop etc

  • @tempestashusky

...you mean I have to TALK TO PEOPLE? 😵‍💫 I kid of course, but I think a lot of people needed this reminder

  • @noctisvt

I think if I were to say one thing... It'd be that sometimes you feel like you haven't found your passion, even if you have. It takes time (sometimes a lot if you've got a health situation and can't keep a schedule) to be found. You can be the best you are at what you do, honestly love it, and just not have the eyes yet. No matter what anyone says, though, you keep at it because otherwise - what - you give up and then someone else who maybe isn't as passionate about a thing gets it because YOU aren't there. Not to say they wouldn't have the eyes anyway, but just that they would get that recognition after they found you otherwise.
Another thing is you CANNOT hate yourself for your mistakes. I have MS, painful hand spasms and of all the shit I chose to do it was Gunpla. That takes massive skill evcen when you DON'T have that, much less when you're dealing with that. As such, yes, I make mistakes. My recent Moon Gundam model, for example. I feel it'd be SO much better if I just (hadn't dropped it, hadn't shaken, hadn't ____). But it happened. So the best thing you can do is make your inadequacies look like its SUPPOSED to be that way. It's genuine and people can identify with that. They CANNOT identify with 'perfection'. That's to say... your mistakes are uniquely you. In accepting them, you accept yourself, and people seeing you do that maybe accept THEMSELVES.
Finally, I often see streamers with disabilities like a few I have say they don't want to be an inspiration. You chose the wrong field. Once you build yourself, your audience, your friend group; You're going to be whether you like it or not because all successful streamers become inspirational. If you can make it in this field with health issues, becoming inspirational is an absolute. Every successful streamer, whether their audience knows they're disabled or not, is one. Period. Even when they fail, because they even attempted. So, it's best to accept you will be one and use that influence and inspiration for good and to build them up as people instead of for harm, to tear others down, or whatever just to get ahead because THEN you're just using others and that's just ethically inept.
