Steinhart GMT owner here. Really like the watch. The only downside - I think the movement is an unknown (at least to me) and I'm not sure about repairability here in the States.
That said, I have the Cronos No Time To Die homage and it's a very very nice watch, so I know what Maxi is capable of. I have no doubt the case and bezel are well finished, and I appreciate the details like the properly bidirectional GMT bezel. You don't see that too often.
Looks like a winner to me.

I was under the impression that both Pepsi and Coke bezels were difficult to do. It's the red part that makes it hard. That's why Pepsi and Coke bezels on most AliExpress watches tend to be aluminium.

I spent $406.00 on the version with the full lume bezel. It came yesterday and I am totally blown away. Your vid is spot on with regard to this watch's quality. It's just stunning. I'm about to pop off that annoying and utterly useless cyclops, so I don't think the framed date window will bother me that much. Other than that, this is the perfect GMT for me. It's got everything.
Now, about this ceramic "Pepsi" bezel.... I asked a friend over last night and to bring his Rolex "Pepsi" GMT with him. It has the ceramic bezel that Rolex claims is the product of some complicated patented process - which, even if so, is obviously being manufactured for them in China. The two bezels are absolutely identical - even under magnification (the color split on the 6 is perfect on mine. Dead center), same exact color - at least to our eyes - identical feel and finish, we could not tell them apart.
The actual differences between the two watches are subtle enough to see that the Cronos is an exact copy. Maybe I'm biased, but my eye was drawn to the Cronos.. Holding one in each hand there is absolutely no sign that your holding something of inferior quality with the Cronos. It holds it own easily. But that Cyclops...... Nevertheless, my friend paid almost $20,000 US for his Rolex from Bob's. If you can find an AD to sell you one, you'll pay about $10,500 US. And good luck finding one. And, when you think that Rolex is Spending $327 Miil on it's global partnership with Formula 1, that $10 - $20,000 difference between the Cronos and the Rolex becomes more logical. It's certainly not the difference in notable quality between the two.

Thanks Gary. The bezel movement is great, The watch works not a travel GMT you can change the 12 hour hand and date to whilst running, but at least the GMT hand is slaved to the hours and minutes, unlike the PD and Phylida ones. The jubilee is GUTTEN GUT. finish and comfort. The framed date window is terrible but also future proofing if you ever remove the cyclops. The clasp very poorly finished, as sharp as a blade, had to file it down.

I bought one of these straightaway after your earlier video introducing the Cronos and San Martin GMT's. I completely agree with your assessment- this is certainly the best watch I have ever encountered from a Chinese manufacturer. Interestingly, the red to blue transition in mine is bang in the middle of the six, so there must be a bit of unit-to-unit variation. The only other thing I would change is the end links of the very comfy J-style bracelet. It would be better if they were fully articulated. I have almost convinced myself that i like the framed date window.

Great video as always. Don't neglect the black-green with Green dial version, it is a gorgeous version as well, although a less habitual color combination. The ceramic is a very light green, and the dial is a deep forest green under laquer finish. No need for a sunburst effect for this beautiful color. Got mine in Canada QC in under a week, that's in consecutive days!

Hi Gary your the first person to review this watch, I have been checking daily for a review, and finally here it is!!! I am waiting on mine to arrive, it looks fantastic!!! I am by no means a watch snob, and I can't afford the original if there was one even available, but this one hit the spot for me!!! I have a couple other brands with the red blue insert, but the shinyness looks to metallic, and I was hoping for something very close to the original, and this watch is it wow! I did use your link , and I bought this watch because of your video about the manufacturing of this bezel, and how this and the San Martin were quality watches!!! I really like the look of the watch, as a steinhart owner I’m probably biased 😂 but I suppose you pay more for the Swiss made name, and the actual Swiss ETA or sellita movement over the Chinese version - which on it’s own probably accounts for a good chunk of the price difference between itself and this.

First experience of using jubilee bracelet, I really like it but clasp is not good for that price. Also I like customer service. I asked them to dial without date frame and they removed it. 14:10 ... and that's why I still think you should be reviewing both the Steinhart 39 Vintage GMT and their new-ish, more modern looking ceramic Pepsi GMT. What I really prefer about these two (and it's a very personal preference, I guess) is the fact that they aren't as close to the "real thing" as these Chinese homages are. The Vintage more so than the newer model, but even that one won't be easily mistaken for a GMT Master II.

I'd have preferred either keeping it and losing the cyclops, or vice versa. I've seen cheaper Pepsi bezels where the red portion was painted. Don't like it. I’m quite impressed by the build quality . However mine is running around 17 seconds fast so I’m not convinced by the movement. If the accuracy isn’t there then they have problems . You compare to steinhart remember they are using an ETA ..Time you add tax this is nearly 500 dollars which is relatively expensive . If you are going to charge this price then you probably have to bring a little more , accuracy, a little more premium packaging , better warranty, incidentally they charge the same price for the coke as they do the Pepsi . Look what Zelos are offering for 500 and this is the benchmark so a they have to up their game a fair bit ..

that looks awesome! I really love the red color of the bezel insert. Compared to the Steinhart, the red is really dark, which I like. Steinhart's red ceramic is a bit too bright. For that much money, I am already at an original Glycine Combat GMT, which is similar, but NOT a Rolex homage, or just about a wee over $100 away from an Airman, which was the genuine FIRST world time watch with multi time-zone capability!
For an homage, the Pagani, or a Tandorio, are just fine and come in at under 100 bucks, with a well proven and reliable Seiko/TMI NH34A calibre, that is possible to regulate fairly easily! They ALSO have red and blue ceramic bezels! Think about it: Do the high temp baking first, then add the low temp colour, done. No big deal at all, and the price tag proves it! Easy peasy!

No, it's not a Rolex will drive me crazy. Whether the watch is good value or not it is getting pricey, not sure about the movement to get it serviced and get parts in future. I'd have preferred a Swiss movement, instead of that ceramic bezel. In fact I would have go and get the inspiration from the 1675 from the 60's, add some fauxtina for full effect and a proper aluminium bezel that will fade with salt water... And is that simple to get a new one if so you wish. Great review as usual.

Why ohh why ohh why can manufacturers put the regular hour hand on the first click.
That’s how you use a GMT watch while traveling. You leave the GMT hand to GMT and then change the local hour hand as you travel across. That way you only have to pull the crown one position, without messing up your hack and change the local time hour.
The way it’s implemented on this watch you have to mess up tour hack to change the local time, then reset where GMT time is and fix the date if needed. If the two hour hands were switched in selection function, all you have to do is change the local time hour, maybe the date but that’s still in the same crown position AND it doesn’t mess up your hack.

My Steinhart is even more expensive than the one you had, but you also get a lot more. I feel the case fits the vintage look much better than the modern sub or GMT. The finishing is nicer as well, with a display caseback and bevelled lugs. The movement decoration is very impressive. It also has a lumed ceramic pepsi bezel and a dial that has a kind of bronze reflection to it, imitating a tropical dial. The lumed bezel flows very nicely into a double domed sapphire crystal with lots of AR coating. It's probably the closest I'll ever get to a 6542 GMT Master and it's the watch I wear most by far, even though it's not the most expensive one I own.

I was impressed by the macro shots of the ceramic bezel insert In particular. But when a watch costs nearly $400 USD I believe you can expect higher standards. That's why I am a bit disappointed by this watch. Why did Cronos apply a mineral crystal cyclops? Failed on the home stretch, I'd call this. The cyclops is the most exposed part of the entire crystal. I mean, you're getting sapphire crystal cyclopses on 60 $ Pagani Design watches, I tested it. The frame on the date window obviously is there in case someone removes the cyclops. I believe that is a nice thought by them, because i really despise unframed date windows that look like someone cut a hole in the dial. What bugs me a bit is that the indices and the handset are a bit too creme in comparison with the bezel numbers that are clear white. They should have made them the same color one way or the other. I also, still, don't particularly like the cronos branding and font (even thought it is much better than before). And since i am not a fan of sterile dials, it kinda is an issue to some degree for me. Despite the above, in general lines, the watch looks great and i will consider buying it in the future. San Martin really shot themselves in the foot by making their version with that awful, out of place, tiny unframed window. If they had put a cyclops on it, it would have been better, but they managed to completely mess with the date. I am sure many people bought it nevertheless...

I have 6.25 inch wrists, so probably I should go with the San Martin. Hello, I was excited waiting for this Cronos gmt to add to my collection and received it today. I will say that it is an extremely attractive watch and very comfortable on my 7 1/2 " . Unfortunately there are a few flaws that I wasn't expecting at this price. 1, the bezel movement is by far the worst of my 7 other watches with bezels. It is very bad, even worse then my inexpensive Vostocs. Plus the bezel has side to side movement, alot of movement. Plus there is a speck of dust on the underside of the crystal. My Seiko divers and even my Heimdalrs are better quality. I will just live with it. Disappointed!!!

    Hey All.
    I'm liking this.
I bought a Parnis GMT copy a while back with the intention of modding it into the famous bezel-less GMT Capt. Kurtz wore in Apocalypse Now! Google 'Marlon Brandos Rolex GMT' if you aren't familiar with the watch.
Anyway. Long story short it was a disaster! The lume disintegrated when it was being aged and the pinion broke when the second hand was being replaced!
So, the question is: do I buy another, more expensive watch and repeat the exercise?, or let dead dogs die?
    🙄
