Ive actually beaten brock with a regular pikachu, took me about 3 tries to get a good pikachu run past brock. It really is static luck and double team spam cheese, but every move brock has is inaccurate meaning the odds are always in your favor. Plus you figure out quickly if you farm caterpies and metapods before brock, the evs could be the difference between living an extra hit or not. The real hard part is staying underleveled enough usually i catch another pokemon and use it for switching just making the battles essentially harder but giving my one pokemon less xp.
Except the fact that his Pikachu just straight up hit Brock's Onix with a hard Thunderbolt, which shouldn't have happened cause Onix is ground type 🙃 anime logic just makes him look even worse in my eyes.
@@perchinchatot i think that would only be platinum, but then theres nearly no dragons to get even if you give yourself one as a starter. dratini, horsea and bagon are all post game only, by super rod, a battle island route only, and pokeradar all respectively, so even if he were to give himself one of those as a starter the run is nearly impossible, and honestly not very fun.

Its almost like watching a tabletop rpg unfold whenever I watch your nuzlockes
When Kilobyte fell, it took a toll on my heart. My soul was never the same. I cherished that precious Kilobyte like my life depended on it, and seeing it get exhausted like that was truly torturous. Also, my phone is practically useless now.
It's actually cool to see you use a legendary pokemon for once. I understand why people ban them, but it's nice to see legendaries getting some love every now and then!
This was a really fun-looking run. I also love the fact that the first half is just showing how bad Pikachu is, even with event-exclusive moves and held item
Honestly, I’m impressed with his dedication to the Locke. 27 failed runs and he went for a 28th and managed to clutch up and actually proceed forward? That’s awesome.
The last hit of the run was a critical hit too. Kilobyte is with your team. I was 99% sure you'd go for Explosion with Megabyte to give him some screentime
i personally am a big fan of being a bit more loose on the encounter rules! It allowed you access to at least a full team and i think using zapdos was a great way to display all the good electric types in the game and i think it added great coverage for the team overall. 10/10 challenge run!
You really have to appreciate uncle Jimtendo. Such a helpful guy! Also, loved the writing and editing in this one. Your videos are always so entertaining!
I think that Zapdos is a perfectly acceptable addition. you already had so few options and you had such an early game of hell that it makes sense. More pokemon that we dont' see alot makes it more fun for us.
Good morning Dr Flygon! Only 2 minutes in and this is already wild. Cannot wait for the end. Edit: THAT WAS WILD!! RIP Kilobyte 28.0 you will never be forgotten
Flygon you made me so interested in nuzlockes that I started a hc nuzlocke in pokemon sacred gold with some friends and I'm loving it. Your content is top tier, thank you for your work❤
ROM hack idea: Curate a copy of FlygonHG's favorite game in the series, but replace all wild Pokémon with a Hall of Fame of his best performing, most memorable, or otherwise noteworthy Pokémon across all runs, and make every boss team a recreation of iconic NPC battles including run enders and any other hype or funny battles in the past I genuinely wish I had the skills to do this for you, Flygon, But since I don't I'm just going to drop the idea here and hope somebody else sees it
Kanto monolockes are so punishing. Lol. There is just so little type/move diversity in those games. I would really love to see Flygon tackle a Colosseum/XD (Or Grand Colosseum/XG: Next Gen) nuzlocke. Those games are punishing but also have so much character and charm!
Never expected FlygonHG to be using THAT lol I respect the development xP GG's on this dramatic run! Is this the most attempts done on a single challenge? 😂
The AI did its best to stop Kilobyte, but with literally over a thousand of them waiting in the wings, eventually one broke through. From there the AI's fate was sealed. Even destroying the breakout kilobyte could do nothing to stop its mightier forms. edit: Also Electrode was there... to steal an item.
I just finished my first hardcore nuzlocke of Platinum after watching your videos! It was tons of fun, though I have decided to ban setup and possibly gyarados entirely, as my strategy for the entire elite 4 was either a gyrados dragon dance sweep or gliscor swords dance sweep
Usually I wait until the end of the video to like, but the surprise Wizard’s of Waverly Place right after a masterful artist’s rendering of your family reunion earned an instant thumbs up from me.
I bought a used copy of japanese leafgreen that actually came with that event pikachu on it! as well as ho-oh, lugia, and deoxys events on it, with no signs of gameshark use! I decided to save that save file since it felt like such a piece of history
00:10 I Know you just recently did a (great) video mocking the notion of forgoing Species Clause, but in a monotype run that is not Water Type, it would not be nearly as broken as your previous team of a Swampert and infinite Gyarados. In a FRLG Electric Monolocke, forgoing Species Clause only gives you 1 extra Pikachu, 1 extra Magneton, and 2 extra Electrode.
I think legendaries are fine as long as they don’t oversimplify the run. For example in Gen 5 the swords of justice all come pre installed with swords dance with a lot of bulk and high speed and attack, Terrakion especially. But with Zapdos here I don’t think he adds enough to count as too good of a mon, I feel like it’s functionally similar to jolteon, with the addition of drill peck. And sometimes seeing a legendary that you have to work hard to get perform in a run is pretty enjoyable to watch as well. But maybe I’m wrong or an outlier
Just wanted to say I really appreciated the little "fuck" text added in when you bumped into the wall in the final gym. God-tier subtle edit right there.
"And we're here with FlygonHG, the new champion! Flygon, there's been some questions about your amazing team, and you clearly have an affinity for Electric types. Any reason you didn't include a Pikachu or Raichu?" **cut to Flygon throwing a tarp over a pile of 28 zap rat corpses**
I loved this. As someone who monotyped every type in Kanto, the only thing I didn’t like about this was that I was able to use Struggle to get through Brock (in several dozen attempts so I don’t blame you there), meaning Pikachu relies more on physical moves like Dig and Brick Break, being the strongest physical attacker of the electric types. Either way, your run was fun to watch.
This run brought me back to the times i faced brock with my pikachu and a pidgey on my gameboy. I wouldn't get past the grandpa that doesn't let you through without a pokedex most of the time, since i didn't know how to read. I didn't know i could save until i entered school.
I was really excited to see Zapdos in the line up at the beginning. I love seeing legendaries used, even if they're op. Maybe failed runs could run it back with any "banned" mons or play styles (legendaries, psuedos, gyarados, set up) as a one last shot redemption?
I would describe my laugh at your ad segue as more of a bark I gotta say. And man you were hyping up Kilobyte and leaving the camera on Nidoqueen for so long that when she died I yelled "I KNEW IT" out loud. One of my fave youtubers, definitely my fave poketuber, you keep me so invested!
As soon as I saw the damage the first body slam did and that Flygon wasn't switching, I knew what was about to happen. And it still hurt. R.I.P. Kilobyte
I did a water type run of FR which was honestly very difficult, for about the same reasons this run was. Squirtle is great, and you get a Magikarp which can turn into a Gyarados for Misty, but Surge is very rough (Dig on Wartortle helps, but only a bit), and the Old Rod can only catch more Magikarps, so you can't get another Water type till the free Eevee (soon to be a Vaporeon) in Celadon. Once you hit Fuschia and can pick up a Good Rod and Surf the run is pretty much totally free, but I burned through a good couple of attempts making it there.
This run reminds me of one of my favourite Pokémon I have ever caught. I caught a Pikachu in Sun and named him Kilowatt. Little did I know that my team had been joined by a god in small squishable form... Becoming a Raichu later on, He singlehandedly took out at least 2 of the elite four in that game. I would later find out in the post game that the little rascal had perfect IV’s...
I greatly enjoyed the script. You definitely caught me off guard with that one pikachu, and I think one other time too. Your long monologue part made me kinda laugh. Sorry if I'm not conveying anything. Trying to avoid spoiling and trying not to sleep

I am very very curious wbout how you will handle Giovanni ? Hidden Power ? Can't wait. Lmao. Makes sense. And that gets more interesting. What a roller coaster l

I played a monolocke of Pokemon Blue (sans Electabuzz) with only Electric types. Electrode is garbage because it doesn't learn any electric moves by level up. Magneton was an all star. Raichu and Jolteon were great and Zapdos is totally overpowered. Lots of fun. Thanks for posting as always, FlygonHG! You're the best!
