While I, as a japanese, also don't know if people really canceled pre-oder by playing the demo, I am the one who decided not to buy the game because of the demo even though I really liked Majin Tensei 1 and 2. (Majin 1's gameplay isn't good, though.) Glad it came with the demo (iirc it was just a trailer?) of Soul Hackers that made me decide to buy it and became one of my favorite rpgs. I finally played Ronde thoroughly a few years ago and glad again that I made the right choice. That said, it was interesting to play it.
the funny thing is that the game was made by the same dev who made The Last Bible series Multimedia Intelligence Transfer the whole reason that happened because Atlus was so busy making Soul Hackers at the time so they outsource that dev to do the game instead unlike previous 2 Majin Tensei games where Atlus made it themselves
The title thing reminds me of Castlevania Rondo of Blood. The title in Japanese was supposed to be Akumajo Dracula X Chi no Rinne, where rinne means reincarnation. However, because of how Japanese works, it became Akumajo Dracula X Chi no Rondo, where rondo kinda still meant reincarnation, but could have meant the musical term as well. Than in English, it became Castlevania Rondo of blood, which only can refer to the musical term.
It was worth insisting you do this just to see this, to be honest. At least Majin Tensei 2 is still proving to be a gem among duds. Considering how Ronde recycles it's battle theme in different forms for every new area, I'd say the song definition is the right one. Now when you're done with this, I'd suggest checking out Giten Megami Tensei. It isn't as bad as Majin 1 or Ronde but it has a LOT of just naked ladies on screen so you'd want to be careful how much you show of that.
Giten might get a completed fan translation sooner rather than later. There's an older WIP patch for it and translator said that 80% of text boxes have been translated.

see, the "rondo" pronunciation would make sense if it were a subtle "o". if i recall correctly, that's just how converting foreign words into japanese syllables work. what makes it confusing is that on the box they clearly write the pronunciation as "rondou". the "ou" implies a prolonged "o" sound. it seems that maybe they just mistakenly thought the terms "ronde" and "rondo" are pronounced the same way.
